1.) Senior End User Support Analyst

 

About This Role:

  • Lead and provide reliable technology support for users at Newmont regional or site operations. This includes support of technology applications and infrastructure available via the desktop, on a mobile device or elsewhere at the site and includes supporting outsourced technology services and technology vendors.

In This Role You Will:

Site Technology Support Team Management

  • Manage user request and provision approved service in a timely manner.
  • Plan and manage technology inventory and asset.
  • Manage a queue of work via electronic ticketing system, performing tasks in support of daily technology operations, aligned with response time, quality and customer satisfaction performance measures.
  • Perform technology defect diagnosis on hardware, network and software systems, on mobile or fixed devices, provides input to the resolution and documents solutions for future reference.
  • Contribute to the smooth running of technology facilities at site, including but not limited to, printers, scanners, audio visual equipment, on site video systems, electronic displays and meeting room equipment.
  • Work with other technology teams as directed, such as regional/ global Network/Infrastructure teams to ensure the regional voice & data network, server, storage and end-user environments at site are effectively maintained and supported (this is key for remote mining site locations).
  • Communicate effectively with customers, stakeholders and service providers to deliver on technology requirements.
  • Support vendors to maintain site stability.
  • Provide appropriate identification, tracking, escalation, and communication for regional or site issues they are responsible for in service delivery.
  • Support troubleshooting in areas of server, storage, server room/data center support, networking and telephony support after business hours.
  • Contribute to the record keeping of site technology related assets.

  • Support site personnel to document and understand operating procedures when new initiatives and projects are introduced on site.

2.) Underground Mine Manager

In This Role You Will:

Operations 

  • Lead Subika Underground operations to achieve safe schedule, cost and production objectives.
  • Engage with the Construction Manager and support Project Director to achieve business objectives.
  • Govern the underground mine through management of the underground Management Operating System (MOS).
  • Identify and implement operational controls to manage business risk.
  • Manage technical and geological services to enable the delivery of the mine plan.

3.) Senior Site Finance Manager

Join the Finance Team as the Senior Site Finance Manager overseeing financial analysis, cost controls, financial modelling and budgeting with an emphasis on processing, analysing and reporting financial transactions associated with business activity within designated, operational or support area(s).

In This Role You Will:

Financial Lead

  • Build financial models or other driver-based planning functionality for various departments including but not limited to support areas, Finance and Treasury schedules during annual budgeting and quarterly forecasting.
  • Deliver insights, analysis and solutions to contribute in meeting site targets.
  • Anticipate needs and find opportunities for finance to support site leadership.
  • Engage regional and site leadership and other key stakeholders on priorities and challenges of the finance function and their support in addressing these.
  • Represent finance function at site and regional meetings and make relevant presentations.

 

Planning and Forecasting 

  • Update and maintain forecast and strategic scenario schedules including but not limited to Finance and Treasury based on business changes.
  • Coordinate and review inputs by Cost Center Managers for the preparation of yearly business plans and budgets for the site operation ensuring the integrity of submissions and compliance with regional assumptions and guidance.
  • Lead site interactions with and presentation to the Africa Regional Leadership in finalising input for inclusion into the regional business plans and budgets.
  • Coordinate and review the preparation of quarterly and other forecasts for the site, leading interaction with regional leadership team in finalisation of numbers and tracking performance against plans.
  • Liaise with regional planning team on user training need on systems and tools (for planning and forecasting) and on opportunities for process improvements.

 

Accounting and Reporting

  • Review and analyse monthly financial reports to identify potential cost control issues.
  • Oversee management of costs by responsibility, activity, cost center, element and other performance indicators, and engage departmental heads in review of cost center summaries.
  • Guarantee the integrity of period accounting close outcomes – statistics, costs, income statement, balance sheet, cash flow – and that activities and deliverables meet agreed timelines.
  • Manage the compilation of monthly variance analysis, compare budget versus forecasts and previous plan, etc. and opportunity for improved performance.
  • Lead the preparation of other relevant reports and the performance calls with Regional Leadership and other key stakeholders.
  • Coordinate and prepare stakeholder reporting including corporate Data Acquisition Workbook, Minerals Commission (MINCOM) quarterly and annual reporting, Bank of Ghana monthly and quarterly reporting, etc.

 

Talent Management and Team Leadership

  • Support in building site finance leadership pipeline, identifying talent and capabilities required.
  • Carry out the day to day leadership and development of site finance team.
  • Prepare and execute development plans for subordinates.

Additional Responsibilities:

Investment Systems and Capital Accounting 

  • Support in the Authorisation for Expenditure (AFE) and Project Design Document (PDD) preparation for capital expenditures.
  • Manage overall capital expenditure processes.
  • Coordinate site investment system processes, AFE, Integrated Resource Plan (IRP) and support economic metrics, liaising with regional planning team in verifying that documentation of an appropriate standard is submitted for value assurance and to the Site / Regional Investment Council (IC).
  • Provide assurance around spend of under USD$100,000 which is under Regional Investment Council (RIC) limit.
  • Liaise as required with major projects team, based at Ahafo North.
  • Accountable for site capital spend coordination, discipline and reporting.

 

Liaison 

  • Serve as a liaison between Accounting, Business Planning and the assigned Operating group.
  • Interact and coordinate purchasing issues with Supply Chain Management.
  • Interact and coordinate purchasing issues with mine Information Technology Team Supply Chain Management.

 

Taxation and Cost Management

  • Identify onsite tax exposures and liaise with the Regional Tax Manager in verifying they are appropriately managed.
  • Facilitate the performance of onsite tax audits, reviews and investigations and that any evidence requested is provided.
  • Verify and sign off on Financial Planning (FP) benefits submitted by departments.
  • Compare FP actual benefits with budget targets and analyse variances and plans for remediation.
  • Represent the Regional Chief Financial Officer (RCFO) on all mine cost and Business Intelligence (BI) initiatives, providing finance input.

 

Compliance / Other 

  • Coordinate compliance with requirements of the Newmont Investment Standard at site.
  • Certify the site compliance with Sarbanes–Oxley Act (SOX), internal audit, external audit and accounting standards, guidance and procedures.
  • Continually assess the mine site internal control framework to identity control weaknesses, inefficiencies and opportunities to improve the control environment.
  • Support internal and external Auditors with all requests for mine site testing and documentation.
  • Support site Newmont Ahafo Development Foundation (NADEF) and Newmont Akyem Development Foundation (NAKDEF), crop compensation outcomes, Partnering Against Corruption Initiative (PACI), etc.
  • Support the coordination of gold shipments with the Processing Group, Corporate Treasury and local government agencies.

Your Training, Skills & Experience Checklist:

Formal Qualification (including Professional Registrations):

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (Professional accounting certification is a plus).
  • A post graduate business qualification – CA, ACCA, MBA, MSc in Business or Accounting.

 

Additional Knowledge:

  • Demonstrate detailed knowledge of mine site operations and systems.
  • Knowledge of U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (USGAAP).

4.) Heavy Mobile Equipment and Plant Operator

 

About This Role:

  • To operate the underground mine infrastructure plant and mobile equipment with the aim of delivering optimum mine productivity whilst maintaining the highest standards regarding safety, efficiency and good housekeeping.

In This Role You Will:

Underground Mine Infrastructure General Duties

  • Operate the mine dewatering system, mobile equipment and other underground mine infrastructure to ensure they are working safely and efficiently to meet the needs of the business.
  • Operate mobile equipment for waste pass operation, ore loading and spreading at stockpile areas and removal of mine dewatering system waste.
  • Ensure adherence to operating parameters, follow instructions from the supervisor and make the required decisions on operating conditions/parameters and take necessary corrective action to minimize operational variations.
  • Report sectional deviations to the supervisor for corrective actions to be put in place; requirement for spares, materials and consumables and assist with maintaining such items in an orderly manner.
  • Coordinate production shutdowns and start-ups of the underground mine infrastructure to minimize delays.
  • Maintain a high housekeeping standard in the areas of underground mine infrastructure.
  • Provide input into daily operational issues regarding areas affected to the operations supervisor/General Foreman.
  • Operate Loader machinery according to Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) and Sewage Treatment Plant (STP).
  • Operate both the CAT992K and CAT992G safety and competent.
  • Conduct post-shift inspections regarding hazards and defects identified and communicate to Control room/Supervisor and the incoming operators for the smooth running of operations.
  • Monitor the condition of loader ground Engaging Tools and report any deficiencies.
  • Participate in continuous improvement programs which will assist in enhancing the performance of the underground mine operation.
  • Assist with the coordination and execution of procedural and operational projects and changes within the underground mine infrastructure areas by following the change management procedure.
  • Complete all tasks identified in the underground mine infrastructure operations MOS elements to the specified quality and timeliness as assigned to this role.
  • Provide input into the development and review of the underground mine infrastructure operations Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), management plans and operating procedures and guidelines.
  • Work in conjunction with the maintenance and planning teams to assist with the efficient planning and execution of maintenance activities and plant shutdowns.
  • Ensure the proper use and storage of mobile equipment.
  • Perform other tasks or duties within the individual’s skill set as directed by the Supervisor, General foreman or senior mine officials.

Additional Responsibility:

Underground Mine Infrastructure Operations

  • Act in the position of operations supervisor as and when required to do so to provide consistent and continuous plant operation.
  • Oversee the plant operation during each shift and monitor results and quality at each operation stage.
  • Conduct plant and equipment inspections as required.
  • Provide hands-on assistance during operational and maintenance activities and ensure that safe work practices are followed.
  • Provide on-the-job training as required.
  • Participate in training programs as required.

Follow shift and team instructions and safe work practices and conduct workplace inspections on a regular basis.

  • Conform to all HSLP, Environment and Social Responsibility requirements under Newmont’s Integrated Management System.

  • Prepare shift production and operating reports, complete work requests, and prepare employee time sheets and attendance reports.
  • Complete reports accurately detailing production variances, restrictions, hazards, maintenance requirements and corrective actions.
  • Produce a daily shift report and submit the report to the operations supervisor.
  • Liaise with the compilation of incident / accident reports, where required.
  • Enhance communication through regular feedback, contact, meetings, and briefings, etc.

Plant and Equipment Maintenance

  • Ensure operations and maintenance personnel with troubleshooting plant and equipment defects/malfunctions.
  • Perform equipment isolations if authorized, as and when required to do so in accordance to established procedures.
  • Work with the operations and maintenance teams to achieve efficient plant and equipment performance and availability.
  • Work with operations and maintenance personnel to efficiently rectify plant and equipment breakdowns.
  • Liaise with the maintenance personnel in the performance of maintenance activities as and when required.

Your Training, Skills and Experience Checklist:

Formal Qualification (including Professional Registrations):

  • A trade qualification in a Mining Operation, Mechanical, Electrical or related field is highly desirable.
  • Completion of WASSCE or equivalent is essential.
  • A valid Ghanaian driver’s license to operate earth moving machinery is essential.
  • MINCOM certification for front end loader is added advantage.

Experience: 

  • Minimum of 4 – 6 years’ experience with the operation of industrial process equipment is essential.
  • Experience operating mobile earth moving machinery is essential with code E vehicle in a mining environment.
  • Experience in metalliferous mining is highly desirable.
  • Previous process operating experience, particularly with crushing plants is highly desirable.
