1.) Senior Gender Advisor / Senior Program Manager, Gender
Location: Abuja

Job Description
- The National Democratic Institute for International Affairs (NDI) seeks to hire a Senior Gender Advisor/Senior Program Manager, Gender who will be responsible for providing leadership and support to NDI’s gender programming initiatives, as well as developing strategies; delivering training; providing technical assistance; and developing resources/tools.
- This position provides support to NDI’s program and staff to mainstream and integrates standardized gender programming policies, strategies, and interventions.
- The position may also provide program-related support to other areas within NDI as required. Based in Abuja, Nigeria, this position requires regular travel to various States. The position is available immediately.
Primary Responsibilities
Program Management:
- The Gender Advisor will report to the Deputy Country Director, Programs. He/she will bear responsibility for the development and implementation of all NDI gender programming initiatives.
- Provide technical leadership across all Abuja-based programming to ensure all programs are designed and implemented to benefit men and women equally and promote gender-equitable democracy.
- Oversee women’s programming and team members working on those programs, including the Supporting Advancement of Gender Equality (SAGE) project, Stop-Violence against Women in Politics (Stop-VAWIP) campaigns, and others as developed.
- Conceptualize and implement gender programming and provide support as needed to project teams and partners and operational requirements.
- Work with program teams and external consultants as needed, to coordinate, organize, and manage gender programming and mainstreaming using existing NDI guidance and industry best practices.
Technical Leadership and Innovation/Research:
- Provide technical guidance to partners as needed on monitoring and evaluating their activities and successfully mainstream gender equality across their NDI-supported activities.
- Provide gender technical expertise and support to non-programming initiatives (research studies, assessments, consulting assignments, etc.
- Strengthen the NDI office’s ability to deliver effective gender programming through training, communication, and the management of policies and guidelines to ensure ability to accomplish performance objectives.
- Monitor and review literature, internet sites and conferences for best practices, latest thinking and concepts, research and methodology on gender issues, programming and capacity building. Disseminate resources and promote information and knowledge exchange.
Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning:
- As appropriate, coordinate and support evaluation efforts in one or more of the following four program stages: 1. Concept development, 2. Program design; 3. Program planning and 4. Program wrap up.
- Draft TORs/ work plans to provide technical expertise and support to gender related initiatives.
- Draft activity, quarterly, and technical program reports that monitor and evaluate program performance and results as well as political developments.
- Ensure programmatic objectives are achieved as well as reporting requirements are adhered to.
- Provide analysis of data to determine the quality and impact of program activities.
- Prepare monthly and support quarterly reports on program activities including background, descriptions of activities, evaluation of program performance and analysis.
Financial Management:
- Oversee program budgets; ensure activity and trip budgets are prepared accurately and within the approved program budget.
- Track program expenses to ensure that the program activities remain within budget.
- Support budget alterations and expenses when necessary and apprise relevant staff when changes are necessary in the program and activity budgets
External Relations/Communications:
- Communicate regularly with Washington based regional and functional staff.
- Participate in staff meetings and present weekly program updates.
- Represent NDI to Nigeria organizations and the donor community as delegated by the Country Director.
Other duties:
- Develop, implement and/or manage other programmatic and administrative activities as needed.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree, preferably in Social Sciences or related subject; graduate degree desired.
- Minimum of eight (8) years relevant work experience in gender issues, advocacy, political party organizational development and/or legislative affairs.
- Demonstrated work experience on women's issues, gender equity, or related areas, particularly as they apply to political party politics.
- Experience in implementing organization and development programs funded by USAID or other bi- and multilateral donors.
- Ability to communicate skills and experience to others as a trainer, advisor and consultant as well as experience in organizing and conducting trainings and workshops.
- Excellent managerial and networking skills, as well as the ability to build and maintain cordial professional political relationships.
- Excellent oral and written communications skills to effectively and persuasively present information, respond to questions and negotiate as well as share information with partners, donors and bilateral partners.
- Oral and written fluency in English required.
- Experience in program design, strategic planning and monitoring and evaluation.
- Proven analytical skills for interpreting complex program and political issues and to think innovatively and introduce new concepts.
- Working knowledge of PC-based word processing and spreadsheet applications with a seasoned budget and accounting skills.
- Experience with Google Apps suite (Gmail, Calendar, Google Drive, G+, etc.) strongly desired; Ability and willingness to travel to regional locations, which may be remote and difficult to reach.

- The senior gender advisor/senior program manager, gender works with NDI's Abuja and Washington-based regional staff. This position reports to the deputy country director with NDI's Resident Director providing overall program guidance. Salary range is commensurate with experience. Description
- The National Democratic Institute for International Affairs (NDI) seeks to hire a Program Officer, Civic Education, Youth and Vote Not Fight (VNF). The ideal candidate should have experience in implementing civic and voter education, youth-policy and electoral violence prevention campaigns.
- The successful candidate will work with NDI’s civil society partners to increase citizens’ knowledge of democratic norms and electoral processes through civic and voter education.
- The candidate will also work with NDI’s partners to influence the adoption and implementation of youth policy priorities. Since 2014, NDI has implemented an election-violence mitigation campaign targeting youth and political parties.
- The successful candidate will also support NDI’s partners on this campaign as part of his or her duties. Based in Abuja, Nigeria, this position requires regular travel to various States. The position is available immediately.
Primary Responsibilities
- Under the supervision of the Senior Program Manager, design and implement NDI’s civic and voter education, youth and VNF campaigns.
- Serve as primary point of contact for NDI’s civic and voter education, youth and VNF campaigns.
- Conceptualize and implement campaigns with the aim of increasing youth participation in Nigeria’s political and electoral processes.
- Provide technical support and guidance to NDI’s partners on civic and voter education and youth campaigns, especially the youth policy and Vote Not Fight campaigns.
- Contribute to the implementation of program activities including strategic planning, technical expertise, administrative, accounting/financial, monitoring and evaluation, donor communications and reporting;
- Work with colleagues in Abuja and Washington, DC to identify consultants and experts to assist with the program and oversee their work and activities;

Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree, preferably in International relations, political science, social sciences or a related field; graduate degree desired;
- Minimum of four (4) years relevant work experience in international development, youth and gender issues, political campaigns electoral processes and institutions, political party organizational development and/or legislative affairs.
- Demonstrated work experience on marginalized groups, civic and voter education, governance and youth development issues;.
- Knowledge of and experience in citizen participation legislative processes, political parties, political campaigns;
- Knowledge of Nigeria’s electoral laws, governance policies and policy analysis.
- Experience in implementing organization and development programs funded by the USAID or other bi- and multi-lateral donors;
- Ability to communicate skills and experience to others as a trainer, advisor and consultant as well as experience in organizing and conducting trainings and workshops;
- Excellent oral and written communications skills to effectively and persuasively present information, respond to questions and negotiate as well as share information with partners, donors and bilateral partners;

3.) Program Assistant- Monitoring and Evaluation / Program Coordination

Job Summary
- NDI Nigeria seeks to hire a Program Assistant – Monitoring and Evaluation who will assist the Monitoring and Evaluation Team in the Abuja office.
- The program assistant will support the monitoring and evaluation team in the day-to-day activities and in the planning, designing and implementation of all NDI Nigeria programs. This position is available immediately.
Required Responsibilities
- Under close supervision, maintain the program’s logical framework up to date with staff input;
- Draft sections of internal and external program reports, activity reports, documentcase studies, lessons learned, and success stories.
- Under close supervision contributes to writing and reporting of various documents specific to the NDI Nigeria program
- Assist in the development and management of performancemonitoringplans, including performance indicators, in cooperation with supervisor and other senior staff;
- Assist in the collection of qualitative and quantitative data using various methods (surveys, semi-structured interviews, focus groups, direct observation, or participatory methods);
- Design data collection tools and protocols and train staff and other relevant program stakeholders to contribute to the collection of quality data;
- Assist to develop and maintain a data management system;
- Compile and analyze qualitative and/or quantitative program data, including visual representations of data;
- Assist in organizing participatory sessions to assist program staff in identifying and highlighting achievements of program objectives and outcomes; and
- Under close supervision provides administrative and logistics support
- Provides administrative support for work plan formulation; takes part in work plan discussion.
- Assisting in the preparation for a Data Quality Assessment (DQA) by external evaluators.
- Attends program coordination meeting and keeps up to date on latest information on partners
- Participates in program support and conducts research on programs
- Perform other tasks assigned.
Required Skills and Abilities
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in International Relations, Political Science or a related field; graduate degree preferred.
- 2 - 5 years experience.
- Demonstrated coursework and/or internships in international development, community organizing, political campaigning, organizational development, legislative affairs or related subject.
- Good interpersonal skills to effectively interact with all levels of staff, U.S. and foreign government personnel and NGO community.
- Good oral and written communication skills to effectively present information and respond to questions.
- Capacity to work both independently and as a member of a team.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
- Working knowledge of computer software programmes including Ms Office, SPSS/MaxQDA etc.
- Working knowledge of basic budget and accounting procedures.

4.) IT & Administrative Assistant
Location: Abuja

Reports to: Security and Logistics Manager and the Communications Officer.
Job Summary
- NDI Nigeria seeks to hire an IT and Administrative Assistant who will join its Security & Logistics Team based in Abuja.
- The IT and Administrative Assistant will establish and maintain a well-functioning IT support operation for the NDI-Nigeria Office. This position is available immediately.
Primary Responsibilities
- Under close supervision, provide day-to-day IT and Administrative support to staff.
- Daily administering and maintaining the office network.
- Providing help desk support to all staff.
- Provides assistance in the use of personal computer hardware, software, and specialized mainframe technology
- Providing daily assistance on the usage of Microsoft Office Suite to all staff.
- Regularly updating staff antivirus software.
- Trouble shooting all faulty IT equipment (hardware and software) such as laptops, desktops, printers, scanners, and photocopiers.
- Ensuring that the internet connectivity is up and running at all times with little or no down time.
- Assist new staff to activate NDI gmail account.
- Keep a log of all IT problems and solutions provided.
- Replacing used/finished toner cartridges in all the printers and copiers with new ones.
- Troubleshoots, diagnoses problems, implements corrective action procedures within prescribed guidelines and/or escalates to other technical resources as appropriate
- Provides basic troubleshooting, repair and maintenance for computer equipment (e.g. microcomputers, disk drives, and laser printers) and may assist with testing personal computers and peripherals on a network to diagnose, hardware versus software problems.
- Establish and maintain a well-functioning IT support operation for the Nigeria office.
- Performs other duties as assigned
Required Skills and Abilities
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related subjects, graduate degree preferred.
- Minimum two (2) years of experience working on technology; preferably in international development.
- Excellent communications skills, verbal written and via online mediums (such as IM)

Reports to: Security and Logistics Manager
Job Summary
- NDI Nigeria seeks to hire a Driver who will join its Security & Logistics Team based in Abuja.
- The Driver will be responsible for driving NDI project vehicles in Nigeria, wherever it is safe to operate in accordance with safety standards and driving laws of the Country and NDI policies. This position is available immediately.
Primary Responsibilities
- Under close supervision, provide logistics and driving support to the entire NDI staff.
- Drive staff, consultants and guests to various destinations within and outside Abuja under the direct supervision of the Head Driver.
- Provide guidance on appropriate departure time to meetings and shortest route destinations.
- Drive guest to and fro hotels, residence and airport helping them load and unload as necessary;
- Drive safely and responsibly at all times, never drive under the influence of alcohol.
- Maintains vehicle logbook, accounting for all mileage and fuel consumption/costs.
- Maintains cleanliness of vehicles.
- Ensure vehicles are in good mechanical order and completes and submits weekly log sheets to support this.
- Perform day-to-day maintenance of the assigned vehicles; check oil, water, battery, brakes, tires, etc. and ensure that the assigned NDI vehicles are roadworthy and maintained up to the established security standards.
- Reports and arranges any repairs and replacements immediately to the Security and Logistics Manager.
- Ensure that vehicles under their care are secured from loss and damage.
- Ensure that the steps required by rules and regulations are taken in case of involvement in an accident.
- Deliver mails to partner organizations or donor agencies in Abuja.
- Perform other related duties as required.
Required Skills and Abilities
- Secondary School Education.
- 1-2 years’ work experience as a driver; safe driving record; knowledge of driving rules and regulations and skills in minor vehicle repair
- Adequate knowledge of traffic laws.
- Have a valid and clean driver's license.
- Knowledge of the Abuja/Nigerian road network.
- Language Requirements: English.
