1.) Insights Planner, Marketing Insights

 

Location: Lagos

About the Job

  • The goal of the Marketing Insights team is to understand how users behave and how they use our products, how they perceive and interact with our brands, what impact our media communications and messages have on their perceptions and behaviors, and what cultural and social influences shape how they view the world around them.
  • As an Insights Planner, you'll be a research enthusiast always focused on the audience (which could be users or businesses), you'll use data and insights to craft meaningful stories, and will communicate research in a way everyone can understand - from product to marketing and sales teams.

Our job is to demonstrate how Google's products solve the world's problems--from the everyday to the epic, from the mundane to the monumental. Responsibilities

  • Drive market insights to support marketing and business strategy for the Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA) cross-functional team. Ensure that all SSA work is insight-driven, and foster this mindset across our country and cross-functional teams.
  • Consider business, marketing, sales objectives, and design insight-led processes to support successful creation of campaigns to deliver against them.
  • Initiate and leverage thought leadership pieces from the wider Market Insights team and articulate how the current economic and social climate impact upon our products and plans, in specific hubs.
  • Review relevant insight sources to extract key information to support business decision-making and annual planning process.
  • Develop recommendation on which insights to leverage to drive marketing and business strategy development.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience within marketing insights and research
  • Experience managing third-party research agencies and multi-country research studies
  • Experience working cross-functionally with multiple stakeholders within a business

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated technical expertise and knowledge of Google technology (Google Ads), the internet, and social media
  • Ability to think strategically and be a brand builder with a range of experience
  • Ability to influence and shape cross-functional strategy
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team/partnership with marketing/research
  • Ability to translate complex ideas into simple and intuitive communications; excellent project management and organizational skills

2.) Technical Director, Office of the CTO - Google Cloud

 

Locations: Accra - Ghana, Johannesburg - South Africa, Lagos - Nigeria and Nairobi - Kenya

  • The Office of the CTO (OCTO) is a diverse team of highly experienced engineers and technologists, working on behalf of the Cloud CEO, whose mission is to foster market-disrupting collaborative innovation between Google and the world's most ambitious organizations.
  • As Technical Director, Office of the CTO, Google Cloud, you will create and reinforce the human pathways between Google Engineering and our most strategic customers and partners, allowing all of us to start from loosely defined, potentially transformative market opportunities and convert them into new, technology-enabled businesses.
  • Your experience spans people, process and technology, with a heavy emphasis on engineering savvy that enables expert judgment in high stakes situations where complex decisions are made in an environment of significant uncertainty.

  • Cultivate collaborative innovation with enterprises and organizations in the Africa region.
  • Synthesize information from previous experience and new learnings into suggestions for new Google products and platforms.
  • Inspire others internally and externally to work through difficult and disruptive endeavors through sharing experiences/learnings while a member of OCTO.




Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:

  • Experience leading engineering teams and identifying marketing opportunities in Africa.
  • Professional experience in either software, hardware, or infrastructure engineering that includes technical innovation and engineering leadership.
  • Experience co-creating roadmaps for cloud platforms at the CIO, CTO, or SVP of Engineering level.
  • Ability to travel as required (up to 30-50%).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience leading collaboratively and leveraging organizational depth across functions for transformation projects with clients and/or their own company.
  • Customer facing/consulting experience.
  • Ability to lead through influence on important initiatives without authority.
  • Ability to think innovatively and solve ambiguous problems.
  • Ability and willingness to apply direct technical skills and technology to solve business problems.
  • Excellent communication skills.

3.) Head of Legal

 

Location: Lagos, Nigeria

  • As Regional Senior Counsel at Google, you work on the most exciting legal issues as disruptive technological innovations require creative and proactive legal guidance.
  • You're part of a whip-smart group of in-house lawyers and the projects and cases you take on challenge you to think big and differently. You are collaborative -- ready to partner in initiatives that influence all aspects of the business and work with Googlers from all over the company.
  • As an integrated part of the team, you proactively assess legal risks and advise on products that will not only move information into the 21st century, but move information law forward as well.
  • You are an experienced lawyer who will lead and manage a small team handling a wide range of legal matters for Sub Saharan Africa (SSA). You are a legal generalist, with experience working across several countries in SSA, and a deep understanding of corporate law, intellectual property and technology laws.
  • You also have solid experience in handling regulatory issues, negotiating with regulators, litigation and drafting agreements, with a genuine interest in technology.
  • You'll advise the business on its activities, including key legal risks and strategies, while working closely with team members to roll out new products, negotiate key agreements and manage regulatory challenges and litigation as needed.
  • You're an outstanding lawyer who thinks creatively and strategically enjoys taking initiative to address complex issues, and at the same time is eager to pitch in where needed to assist our rapidly growing businesses.
  • You will have the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a collegial, fast-paced team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide expert and strategic legal advice to the company, in particular to Management, Board of Directors, Product, Commercial, PR and Public Policy/Government Relations teams in SSA.
  • Set internal governance policies and manage the impact of external factors. Anticipate issues and estimate risks strategically identifying proactive solutions that will eliminate or mitigate such risks.
  • Deal with complex, significant matters that cut across legal and related areas.
  • Respond promptly and reliably to internal and external requests for advice, specifically with regards to litigation, regulatory inquiries, contracts, commercial regulations, IP, data protection, advertising and consumer protection as needed.
  • Assist with litigation and regulatory investigations as needed in cooperation with Google Legal colleagues and external counsel. Represent Google adeptly with regulators and other outside influencers.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:

  • Qualified Lawyer in a Sub Saharan Africa country
  • Lawyer with experience in post-qualification litigation, with commercial experience either in private practice or an in-house legal team.
  • Experience leading a team, engaging with the business, and building credibility with senior management and relationships cross-functionally.
  • Ability to travel as needed.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Qualification in the US or UK
  • Experience with a high volume caseload and the ability to distill and prioritize complex and urgent legal issues.
  • Experience in handling technology-related litigation and commercial matters, and a deep understanding of the online industry.
  • Curiosity about new legal issues and a willingness to work on a broad variety of matters.
  • Experience in managing and growing teams and complex processes international setups. Excellent communication and presentation skills with an ability to influence senior audiences.
  • Knowledge and understanding of both common law and civil law systems.
  • Fluent in or working knowledge of French.
