NESSACTION, also known as the Nigerian Election Sensitization Scheme (NESS), is a non-governmental and non-partisan organisation dedicated to enhancing the political and economic participation of youth and women in Nigeria.

   

We are recruiting to fill the following positions below:

2.) Finance Officer
3.) Technical Assistant (IT - Power BI, Tableau)

1.) Admin Officer

Job Title: Admin Officer

Location: Abuja
Job type: Contract

Background

  • The Admin Officer will assist the Admin, Finance & HR Departments in adhering to the compliance procedures for all operational and program-related activities and NESSACTION’s financial implementation, and ensure adequate internal controls are in place and in compliance with laws, regulations, donor requirements and NESSACTION’s policies and procedures.

  • The position is for a short term, subject to renewal based on performance and funding availability. The post holder would be expected to work 40 hours a week. The position has a competitive salary as obtainable in the industry.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist in receiving guests, responding on official correspondence via mail and phone calls, filing of documents and general office management
  • Assist in inventory management and reporting, handling the petty cash register and ensuring availability of office supplies
  • Assist in conducting facility assessments, raising requisitions, analysing vendor bids and securing approvals for hiring of vendors in accordance with NESSACTION procurement policy.
  • Assist in preparing travel itinerary, training checklists and provision of logistics in accordance with NESSACTION’s travel policy.
  • Assist in sorting and reviewing timesheets for coding, leave, holidays, etc.
  • Assist with managing Procurement archiving and ensure monthly updates.
  • Support audits (donor, internal, external, statutory) by retrieving and refilling documents.
  • Assist in coordinating with all Program Officers to collect necessary documents and ensure proper documentation after return from field activities.
  • Assist in ensuring all income taxes, withholding taxes, VAT, and other taxes are withheld and paid accordingly.
  • Work closely with the Admin, Finance & HR and Program departments to ensure the Standard Operating Procedures for voucher redemption are followed properly.
  • Assist with the monitoring of expenditures to ensure they remain within authorized levels.
  • Assist in examining the validity of requests for increases in imprest levels; preparing disbursement vouchers to replenish imprest accounts.
  • Assist in investigating erroneous charges and take appropriate corrective accounting actions.
  • Assist in scrutinize source documents for completeness, accuracy, and validity of charges.
  • Assist in financial management, tracking, preparing payment letters, drafting financial statements to donors, and recording them accordingly.
  • Conduct herself/himself both professionally and personally in such a manner as to bring credit to NESSACTION and not jeopardize its humanitarian mission.
  • Other Responsibilities as Assigned.

2.) Finance Officer

Job Title: Finance Officer

Background

  • The Finance Officer under the supervision of the Chief Finance Officer will assist the Finance & HR Department in adhering to the compliance procedures for all operational and program-related activities and NESSACTION’s financial implementation, and ensure adequate internal controls are in place and in compliance with laws, regulations, donor requirements and NESSACTION’s policies and procedures.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist the Chief Finance Officer in enhancing the efficiency of the existing control system and ensure any identified compliance gaps are corrected.
  • Enter transactions into the accounting software accurately.
  • Assist with preparing Monthly Payroll related statutory remittances (PAYE, Pensions, NHF, NSITF)
  • Assist the team in the preparation of Monthly Balance Sheet Reconciliations.
  • Sorting and reviewing timesheets for coding, leave, holidays, etc.
  • Assist with managing Finance archiving and ensure monthly updates of the finance archiving index.
  • Support audits (donor, internal, external, statutory) by retrieving and refilling documents.
  • Make payments on the bank platforms, print off all payment vouchers, and match them with the document to be filled.
  • Coordinate with all Program Officers to collect necessary documents and ensure proper documentation after return from field activities.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Degree in Accounting, Finance, or any related field
  • At least five (5) years or more experience in an international NGO’s finance/compliance department is preferred.
  • Familiarity with office machines (e.g. scanners, printers, etc.)
  • Knowledge of office management and basic bookkeeping
  • Proficient in English (oral and written)
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office packages (especially Excel and Word)
  • Strong communication and people skills
  • Good organizational and multi-tasking abilities
  • Problem-solving skills.

3.) Technical Assistant (IT - Power BI, Tableau)

Job Title: Technical Assistant (IT - Power BI, Tableau)

Job Description

  • The Technical Assistant (IT – Power BI, Tableau) under the supervision of the IT Officer will assist the IT Department to develop, maintain and manage advanced reporting, analytics, dashboards in Tableau and/or PowerBI. Ability to identify right data Visualization based on Business requirement. Perform and document data analysis, data validation and data mapping design.

  • The position requires service delivery meeting procurement requirements and web portal management for a short term, subject to renewal based on performance and funding availability. The post holder would be expected to work remotely and in person when required.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Study, analyze and understand business requirements in context to business intelligence.
  • Design and map data models to shift raw data into meaningful insights.
  • Utilize Power BI to build interactive and visually appealing dashboards and reports.
  • Spot key performance indicators with apt objectives
  • Analyze previous and present data for better decision making

  • Develop strong data documentation about algorithms, parameters, models
  • Perform detailed analysis on tested and deployed Power BI scripts
  • Run DAX queries and functions in Power BI
  • Define and design new systems
  • Take care of data warehouse development
  • Make essential technical and strategic changes to improvise present business intelligence systems
  • Identify the requirements and develop custom charts accordingly
  • SQL querying for better results
  • Coordinate with all Program Officers to collect necessary documents and ensure proper documentation after return from field activities.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Experience with BI tools
  • Experience of working with BI tools and BI systems. Ability to build rich dashboards, write DAX expressions, and implement security.
  • Scripting and programming language such as Python is an added advantage.
  • Experience in data specific roles
  • Minimum 2-3 years of experience of working with BI tools.
  • Showcase knowledge of database management, SQL querying, data modeling, Online Analytical Processing.
  • Well-informed about Microsoft BI Stack
  • It will be an added advantage if the applicant has in depth knowledge of Microsoft Business Intelligence stack like Power Pivot, SSRS, SSIS, and SSAS.
