1.) Head of Digital Economy

 

Location: Nigeria

The Opportunity

  • The Head of Digital Economy will report to the Regional Head, Eastern and Southern Africa and play a critical role in leading the development of the Digital Economy Program strategy.
  • He/She will support the design of country strategies, portfolio design and programming innovation. He/She will also will advise how best to use investments in technology and digital to improve economies and societies.
  • The job holder shall be responsible for digital economy program design, program integration and innovation, institutional learning, employee innovation, and technical expertise in collaboration with colleagues and external partners with expertise in technology and targeted economic sectors (education, agriculture, healthcare, government, infrastructure, entrepreneurship etc.)
  • The successful candidate will be based in any of our listed offices in Africa (Rwanda, Ethiopia, Uganda, Kenya, South Africa, Ghana and Nigeria).

Ways You Can Contribute

  • Develop a long-term strategy for showcasing the Foundation as a thought-leader and contributor in advancing Digital Economy in Africa.
  • Cascade the strategy into country and regional program teams in collaboration with Country Heads.
  • Lead Diagnosis and expertise on digital enabling environment and policy to inform country strategy design, partnership development, and monitoring processes.
  • Championing robust implementation of the Foundation’s comprehensive programming approach on digital economy, ensuring coherence with all other programs.
  • Facilitating co-design workshops and supporting Programs teams with technical expertise in digital economy geared towards capacity building through knowledge sharing and lessons learnt.
  • Identifying new impact opportunities in digital economy, across countries and supporting Country and Regional including scholars teams in actioning them.
  • Piloting new programming ideas and collaboration models in digital economy.
  • Supporting Country, Regional and Scholars teams to regularly collect and collate learnings from program implementation on digital economy.
  • Ensuring that teams have access to leading technical expertise in digital economy. Building communities of practice internally and externally.
  • Establish and manage effective relationships with key stakeholders and networks in the public, private, and non-profit sector promoting digital economy on the continent.
  • Build and maintain effective business partnerships with other teams within the Foundation.
  • Lead a team to achieve the objectives of the digital economy including cultivating performance through coaching and professional development.




Who You Are

  • Minimum of fifteen (15) years of experience in technology sector as it applies to business, government, education, agriculture, healthcare or other economic sectors, with five (5) years of experience leading and managing a team.
  • Experience conceptualizing and implementing technology solutions/creating platforms that have influenced/unlocked opportunities in various economic sectors.
  • Previous experience working with a technology think tank, innovation hub exploring creative/innovative solutions across multiple sectors.
  • Demonstrated expertise and established networks and relationships in various economic sectors like education, agriculture, entrepreneurship, healthcare, government etc.
  • Experience with initiating new operations, preferably in complex, emerging markets context.
  • Proven experience effectively engaging and collaborating with high-level government officials, key partners, media, business leaders and other network influencers.
  • Experience with public speaking at conferences and other forums including media interaction. Formal media training would be an asset.
  • Exposure to systems thinking with an ability to understand and engage with stakeholders in an education ecosystem and design programming that addresses root causes and critical needs.
  • Substantive knowledge of key issues and emerging trends and barriers to applying technology to augment and accelerate value in sectors like entrepreneurship/business, education, agriculture, healthcare and government.
  • Exposure to the various elements and players in technology and digital space: telecom infrastructure, devices, connectivity, software and IT industry products and services, IT Industry global and regional players, cybersecurity and privacy related topics, consumer tech vs. business tech, ecommerce platforms and digital business models. Deep technical understanding of at least one of these elements.
  • Intellectually curious and flexible, is comfortable with ambiguity, receptive to new ideas and open to change, when presented with best options.
  • Are results driven and motivated by a sense of performance excellence and a sense of urgency; possesses a proactive and ‘self-starter’ mentality.
  • Possesses a global mind-set and professional maturity and demonstrates sensitivity to working within different cultures.
  • You have a commitment to Mastercard Foundation’s values and vision.
  • French language and/or local language skills are an asset.

Key Responsibilities

  • Business development and sales, working in close collaboration with International Market and vertical Solutions Sales team to secure Community Pass commercial contracts;
  • Responsible for H&D programs enablement and execution, in accordance with clients and market team defined success criteria – scale, usage, impact, commercial success, customer satisfaction, product relevance, operational efficiencies…;
  • Defining, Organizing and Coordinating internal and external stakeholder’s activities in accordance with program goals and timelines – project manager, marketing, technology, product, legal, compliance, business and operations;
  • Develop program documentation, in collaboration with other H&D verticals, core team and clients / partners: Scope, Target Operating Model, KPIs / Success Criteria, M&E framework, Organizational Structure, Risk Matrix, Cost Management;
  • Assessing program strengths, Analyzing risks, Suggesting improvement areas, Managing changes and interventions to ensure program goals achieved;
  • Managing budget to ensure program continuity and success;
  • Coordinate program monitoring and evaluation;
  • Producing and communicating accurate and timely reporting throughout program lifecycle to program team and executives / sponsors.

Qualifications

  • University Degree (or its equivalent) in IT, Project Management or related discipline
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in managing technology and/or development related programs
  • Demonstrated experience in program management
  • Versatile with experience / background in business, technology and operations
  • Proven experience in stakeholders management

The Opportunity

  • Reporting to the Head of Cybersecurity, the Security Architect will lead and be responsible for design, building, testing and implementation of cybersecurity systems within our network.
  • A successful candidate for this position must possess both a deep and wide background in information security being applied across a wide breadth of technologies spanning both solutions built on traditional platforms and modern deployments on "open" technology stacks.
  • The successful candidate will be based in Canada or any of our listed offices in Africa (Rwanda, Kenya, Ghana, Nigeria).

Ways You Can Contribute

  • Define security architecture roadmap based on business needs and threat landscape
  • Provide oversight and roadmaps for infrastructure security devices, including IPS, SIEM, malware proxies, network and systems access controls, firewalls, authentication devices, enterprise monitoring systems, and others
  • Developing project timelines for system upgrades and preparing cost estimates.
  • Carry out risk analyses of Foundation’s IT systems and key processes
  • Contribute to short and long-term IT portfolio planning
  • Initiates proof of concepts to assist in defining security technology direction and enabling Foundation’s business strategy
  • Contribute to cyber governance, risk and compliance related matters
  • Conduct periodic assurance on systems access on all key systems
  • Establishes a taxonomy of indicators of compromise (IOCs) and share this detail with other security colleagues, including the security operations center (SOC), information security managers and analysts, as well as counterparts within the network operations center (NOC)
  • Work closely with the technology team i.e. vendor management, end user support and operations

Who You Are

  • Degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or similar domain
  • 2-5+ years’ experience in a similar role , with minimum of 5 years’ experience in total as a cyber security professional
  • Security certifications such as Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) or Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) are preferred
  • Experience with public, private, and hybrid cloud services and the planning, development, migration, and integration of applications and services from on-premises infrastructure to Cloud-based SaaS, Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) and Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) environments
  • In-depth knowledge of Microsoft tech stack
  • Experience in EDR, SIEM, IPS, IDS, device management, email gateways, web application security
  • Proven experience reviewing application code for security vulnerabilities
  • Experience securing CI/CD pipelines
  • Direct, hands-on experience or a strong working knowledge of vulnerability management tools
  • Documented experience and a strong working knowledge of the methodologies to conduct threat-modeling exercises on new applications and services
  • Growth mindset who is passionate to learn and use new and emerging technologies
  • Strategic planning skills to interpret business, technology, and threat drivers, and develop practical security roadmaps to deal with these drivers
  • Strong communication skills to translate complex security-related matters into business terms that are readily understood by colleagues including presenting analyses in person and in written formats
  • Financial acumen to evaluate the financial costs of recommended technologies, quantify purchasing and licensing options, estimate labor costs for a given service or technology, and estimate the total cost of operation (TCO), the ROI, or the payback period for services or technologies replacing existing capabilities
  • Project management to draft project plans for security service and technology deployments and coordinate with stakeholders across the organization
  • Possess professional maturity, sensitivity with different cultures, and impeccable integrity that exemplify the Foundation’s values
