1.) Junior Finance Officer

 

Project Brief

• The Market-Oriented Value Chains for Jobs and Growth in the ECOWAS region (MOVE) project focuses on building resilient cashew and rice value chains to contribute to the creation of jobs and income in West Africa, with ECOWAS as its main political partner.
• The project is mainly funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), with co-funding from the European Union and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and implemented jointly with numerous private and public partners.

Scope of the Role

• Identifying relevant problems and issues and assisting in formulating implementation-oriented solutions.
• Coordination of REACH activities in Accra. MOVE intervention countries include Burkina Faso, Côte d'Ivoire, Ghana, Sierra Leone, and Nigeria.

Tasks

• Coordination of transport arrangements for REACH staff and goods/services in Accra.
• Cross-checking of vouchers before submission to the Country Office.
• Facilitates procurement's and contracts at Country Office level.
• Supports preparation and setting up Accra Based recruitment interviews.
• Reports without delay to the finance and administration manager on all problems in financial administration and compliance with rules.
• Ensures that all operational reporting requirements are fully met for the office; in collaboration with the Finance/Administration Manager.
• Monitors status of contract implementation and submission of reports for subsequent payments.
• Reviews all financial reports and vouchers of Contracts (CC, FA, LSC and grant agreement).

Qualification Required & Experience

• Qualification in business administration, Finance, Economics, or other related areas.
• Not less than 1-year experience in Finance and Administration set-up.
• Support build ICT infrastructure for virtual training and other meetings across borders.
• Basic knowledge of accounting software/ICT.
• Very good working knowledge of ICT technologies (related software, phone, fax, email, the internet) and computer applications (e.g. MS Office).
• Very good knowledge in English, French and/ or German knowledge is of advantage.
• Willingness to update skills as required by the tasks to be performed – corresponding measures are agreed with management.
• Strong command of MS office tools such as Word, Excel, and Teams.
• Team player with experience in hosting of meetings and moderation.

2.) Junior Communication Officer

 

Project Brief

• AgriBiz, through its EU co-funded component in Ghana’s northwest, works to improve on quality production in the agricultural sector. This is achieved through the value chain development, for seven commodities (cashew, groundnuts, vegetables, mango, rice, soybean and sorghum).

Scope of the Role

• As a junior communication officer, you will be responsible for providing support in implementing the programme’s communication and visibility strategy. • The project works with both public and private-sector partners to scale up innovations and jointly transform the sector, with agribusiness-related
interventions and promotion of inclusive business models

Tasks

• Supports the implementation of the programme’s communication and visibility strategy.
• Development and revision of information, education and communication materials e.g. articles, success stories, press releases, factsheets, leaflets, flyers, infographics, and other relevant news items.
• Assists the preparation of quarterly and annual reports, as well as operational plans and team events.
• Supervision of the display of communication material in offices, and on items procured by the project internally and for partners.
• Supports the development of presentations for technical and steering committee meetings, as well as other meetings.
• Ensure strong relations with EU-REACH on joint communication activities, including updating the EUGAP webpage, providing content and working with the media consultancy firm, etc.
• Assists with the necessary coordination processes to produce publications and materials in accordance with GIZ and EU guidelines.
• Supports technical teams in preparing media contributions.
• Performs other duties and tasks at the request of management.

Qualification Required & Experience

• University degree in Communication, journalism or comparable degree.
• A minimum of 2 years post-qualification in the same or similar role with national or international organizations.
• Good communication and excellent writing and management skills.
• Excellent working knowledge of ICT, related software and computer applications (e.g. MS Office)
• Strong interpersonal skills with ability to work in a multicultural environment with the ability to quickly grasp complex issues.
• Ability to multitask and work under pressure.
• Motivated team player with an organized, independent, systematic, proactive, detail- and results-oriented work approach Strong command of English language (both written and oral) is required.
• Proactive attitude towards personal growth and institutional changes Willingness to upskill as required by the tasks to be performed – corresponding measures are agreed with management.

3.) Procurement Officer

 

Project Brief

• GIZ is a public-benefit federal enterprise. We work on behalf of the German Government and support many public and private sector clients in a wide variety of areas, including economic development and employment, energy and the environment, and peace and security.
• Our activities cover three priority areas: Energy and Climate, which deals with renewable energy and energy efficiency; Training and Sustainable Growth for Decent Jobs; and Peaceful and Inclusive Societies, which focuses on good governance.

Scope of the Role

• The incumbent provides procurement services in accordance with GIZ policy and standards; administering logistics and contract management services; providing guidance, advice, and support to ensure procurement processes are effective, efficient, transparent and provide the best overall value to GIZ, all while ensuring excellent client service internally.
• The procurement Officer supports the Manager in the discharge of responsibilities, develops new tools and training sessions, applies procurement best practices.

Tasks

Purchasing, procurement:

• In accordance with GIZ regulations and in consultation with Head Office, executes local procurement of materials, equipment, and services, invitations to tender and order processing
• Maintains data relevant for procurement and tenders in ProSoft,
• checks invoices for goods, vouchers, payment instructions and complaints
• Organizes the safe transport of goods to destination Customs declarations:
• Processes customs declaration procedures (duty-free import of goods, entering information in customs declaration database, producing statistics)
• Monitors and processes clearing of goods Vehicle registration:
• Participates in the entire process of vehicle registration (initial registration and documentation of both private and official vehicles, tax and insurance issues with project vehicles), new registration and insurance.
• Assists with processing accident insurance claims against local and German insurance companies, in cooperation with GIZ Head Office

Qualification Required & Experience

The ideal candidate for this role should possess a high work ethic, excellent communication skills, knowledge of procurement regulations, and excellent interpersonal skills.

• MA/MBA/master’s degree
• At least 5 years’ professional experience in a comparable position
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Solution-driven mindset
• Ability to organize workload, and deliver under the pressure of deadline
• Detail oriented
• Knowledge of procurement laws and regulations
• Excellent knowledge of the English language; French and German are advantageous

4.) Junior Technical Advisor M&E (Sustainable Employment – Agribusiness (AgriBiz)

 

Project Brief

Scope of the Role

• The Junior Technical Advisor is primarily responsible for providing support in planning and implementing the monitoring and evaluation activities.
• The main objective is to support the M&E Unit to implement a results-based monitoring system to track progress of activities implemented and inform the management of the programme.

Tasks

• Assists in implementing M&E activities, with emphasis on resultsbased monitoring and reporting.
• Responsible for data collection, analysis and reporting according to the programme indicators
• Supports in developing relevant feedback mechanisms from monitoring and surveys to the team.
• Assists development of survey instruments, maintaining beneficiary databases and conducting spot checks.
• Assists with research activities and studies on issues which benefit joint programmes and establishes a project database.
• Assists with planning, coordinating and documenting meetings, workshops, seminars and other project activities with a focus on technical aspects.
• Supports in developing presentations for technical and steering committee meetings, as well as other meetings.
• Organises and updates programme documentation, the filing systems and the programme library.
• Performs other duties and tasks at the request of management.

• University degree in Development Studies, Statistics, Agribusiness, Economics or other relevant fields.
• A minimum of 2 years post-qualification experience in the same or similar role with national or international organizations.
• Experience of data collection, cleaning, analysis and reporting, as well as research experience.
• Strong interpersonal skills with ability to work in a multicultural environment with the ability to quickly grasp complex issues.
• Experience in the agriculture and/or agribusiness sector, working with public and private sector partners
• Motivated team player with an organized, independent, systematic, proactive, detail- and results-oriented work approach
• Very good working knowledge of computer applications (e.g., MS Office) and data collection/analytic tools (e.g., Kobo Toolbox, PowerBI, SPSS)
• Strong command of English language (both written and oral) is required.
• Willingness to upskill as required by the tasks to be performed – corresponding measures are agreed with management
