1.) Head – University of Ghana Basic School
Applications are invited from suitably qualified persons for appointment as: HEAD, UNIVERSITY OF GHANA BASIC SCHOOL
The School
• Established as the University Primary School (UPS) in 1955 with an initial enrollment of 36 pupils, it moved to its present premises in 1958 as the Demonstration School. The Junior High School was later added in 1987 with an initial enrollment of 68. The University of Ghana Basic School now has over 1500 pupils in three Departments – Kindergarten, Primary and JHS.
Job Summary
• The Head will oversee the general administration, development and growth of the School as a Center of academic excellence and will be required to provide leadership and exercise initiative in the management of an establishment with a growing student population in a competitive national environment. The Head is also responsible for maintaining and promoting the efficiency and good order of the campus, as well as the general administration of the School in respect of human, financial and material resources within the general framework of University’s policies.
• As a self-financing and self-accounting unit of the University, the Head will be expected to generate income for the School’s operations and be responsible for prudent management of the its resources.
Qualification Required & Experience
• The applicant must have a very good first degree and a professional qualification in Education.
• The applicant must have a Master’s Degree (M.Ed/M.Phil) in a relevant field (preferably Educational Administration, Educational Administration and Management, Educational Leadership and Management)
• Must have a minimum of five (5) years relevant experience as Head of a School or six (6) years as an Assistant Head.
• The applicant must be on the rank of an Assistant Director II or a Deputy Director in the Ghana Education Service with at least 15 years working experience.
• Must be a visionary and must be able to establish linkages within the University system and between the school and the wider public.
• Must possess excellent inter-personal and communication skills.
• Must have the ability to establish and maintain high academic standards and discipline.

Terms of Appointment
• The appointment will take effect from 1st August 2022. This is a Senior Member appointment which will be for an initial term of four (4) years and may be renewed, subject to the terms and conditions of employment.

2.) Legal Officer/Senior Legal Officer
JOB PURPOSE
• The Office of the Legal Counsel shall, under the Vice-Chancellor, be responsible for providing legal counsel, advice and representation in all matters and proceedings of the University.
• The successful applicant will be a member of the team and will assist the Legal Counsel in the discharge of the responsibilities of the Office of the Legal Counsel.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Assist the Legal Counsel to provide legal advice on all University related matters;
• Represent or ensure that the University is appropriately represented in all dispute resolution proceedings;
• Attend Committee and other meetings;
• Review University activities to determine compliance with applicable law;
• Review, draft and revise contract/agreements, and any other documents to support commercial transactions agreements involving or concerning the University;
• Record minutes of meetings including subsidiary Companies and Appeals Board hearing proceedings;
• Review, drafts and negotiate major account agreements, consulting agreements, non-disclosure agreements amongst others;
• Drive contract lifecycle from drafting through to completion of the negotiation process, and/or contract execution. Manage contract change control process and related correspondence requiring legal input;
• Prepare contracts for internal review and approval and ensures compliance with University policies as well as applicable laws or regulations;
• Research and evaluate different risk factors regarding business decisions and operations;
• Apply effective risk management techniques and offer proactive advice on possible legal issues;
• With approval from the Legal Counsel, communicate and negotiate with external parties (regulators, external counsel, public authority etc.);
• Draft and solidify agreements, contracts and other legal documents to ensure the University’s full legal rights;
• Deal with complex matters with multiple stakeholders and forces;
• Write legal opinions as shall be requested;
• Draft legal documents as shall be requested;
• Be a team player, help build your team and maintain teamwork;
• Conduct your work with integrity and responsibility;
• Discharge any other assignments that the Legal Counsel shall deem necessary.

Qualification Required & Experience
Applicants must possess:
• A Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree
• Professional law qualification and duly enrolled at the Bar to practice Law in Ghana
• Minimum of six (6) years relevant post-qualification experience
TERMS OF APPOINTMENT
The appointment as Legal Officer/Senior Legal Officer shall normally be for six years including a probationary period. The appointment shall be reviewed before the end of the sixth year and may normally be renewed.

3.) Health Services Administrator/Hospital Administrator

POSITION: Health Services Administrator/Hospital Administrator
REPORTING TO: Director, University Health Services
JOB SUMMARY
• Responsible for the smooth running of health administration, have oversight responsibility over support services within the health facility and contribute to effective financial management in the facility.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
• Responsible for day-to-day general administration of the University Health Services Directorate.
• Ensure the provision of all support services necessary for quality healthcare delivery.
• Direct, supervise and evaluate the work activities of administrative, maintenance and other support service staff.
• Set performance objectives for administrative and support services units in the University Health Services.
• Implement and monitor policies, procedures and performance standards for administrative and other support staff for quality health service delivery.
• Coordinate the planning and budgeting process of the University Health Services Directorate in accordance with the approved guidelines.
• Monitor the efficient use of health resources and report on them.
• Monitor and report on the implementation of plans and budgets.
• Coordinate and collate annual work plans and periodic operational reports on service delivery.
• Support resource mobilization for the health facility.
• Ensure regular provision of utility services such as water, electricity, telecommunication and waste management services.
• Implement established processes, procedures and structures for disaster preparedness, health and safety, and general security of the University Health Services Directorate.
• Facilitate the orientation, appraisal and training of all personnel in the Health Services Directorate.
• Promote the implementation of the patient charter, code of ethics and disciplinary procedures, and other relevant legislation relevant to the conduct of the business of the University Health Services Directorate.
• Solicit assistance on legal matters from the appropriate unit of the University on legal matters of concern to the business of the Health Services Directorate.
• Plan, implement, manage and ensure maintenance of physical assets of the Health Services Directorate to prevent untimely breakdown of buildings, equipment, transport and other assets of the Directorate.
• Ensure maintenance of a healthy and aesthetic environment for the personnel and clients of the University Health Services Directorate.
• Put in place security measures to ensure adequate physical security and safeguarding of assets including protection of patients and staff in all facilities of the Health Services Directorate.
• Coordinate asset data management.
• Monitor and ensure the implementation of various agreements between the University and its business partners as relate to the University Health Services Directorate.
• Plan, advocate and implement programmes for the strategic development of the University Health Services Directorate.
• Make inputs into the development of policies and programmes;
• Conduct operational research within the administrative and support services and ensure its implementation.
• Train and supervise the activities of junior Health Services Administrators, interns and trainees in the facility.
• Perform any other official duty assigned by the Director of the University Health Services Directorate.
• Coordinate with relevant units of the University Health Services Directorate for recruitment, selection, induction, and retention of all cadre of staff; and
• Work with the Director to establish a quality assurance system for the University Health Services Directorate.

Qualification Required & Experience
• B.Sc. Degree in Administration (Health Services Option) and a Master’s Degree in a healthcare related field.
• Applicant must preferably be a member of a relevant recognised professional body.
Experience
• A minimum of five (5) years cumulative service at the grade of Health Services Administrator in a recognized health facility. Evidence of continuing professional development and training in management.
Tenure
• The appointment shall normally be for a six-year term and is renewable.

4.) Deputy Chief Information Technology Officer (Deputy CITO) – IT Services
The University of Ghana Computing Systems (UGCS) is responsible for all IT related services that support the University of Ghana in its teaching, learning, research, management, and administrative processes towards the fulfilment of its vision of becoming a world-class research-intensive University. UGCS is poised to support the University in the use of technology in all areas of its operations.
JOB SUMMARY
• The IT Services Division provides core Information and Communication Technology (ICT) services and support to faculty, staff and students of UG. The Deputy CITO (IT Services) ensures the successful execution of the University of Ghana’s vision and mission through the development and use of appropriate IT services.
• The Deputy CITO (IT Services) works with the UGCS team and external partners to ensure the efficient provision of IT services for academic and administrative work. The job requires envisioning the University’s service offerings- education, research, and administration – as a business model driven by IT services.
The Deputy CITO (IT Services) oversees the following units:
• Academic Computing
• Administrative Computing
• IT Services Engineering
Key responsibilities include, among others:
• Define and implement policies, standards and procedures for use of applications in teaching, learning, research and administration.
• Build and manage the application and systems development team and ensure that the team develops applications and database systems in a high-quality, maintainable, and scalable fashion.
• In conjunction with team leaders, is responsible for managing technology vendor relationships in a manner that ensures cost-effective and timely procurement of hardware, software, and services.
• Ensure the IT Services team has clear goals and direction and a culture of service excellence.
• Evaluate cost/benefit of improvement opportunities and set development priorities.
• Develop and lead project teams focused on redesigning core applications, systems, and work processes.
• Identify and evaluate new technologies and their appropriate applications and potential impact on teaching, learning, research and administration.
• Facilitate the provision of electronic library resources, institutional repository etc.
• Perform other duties as required in support of the IT functions or assigned by the CITO.
Qualification Required & Experience
• A Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, IT Management or a related field.
• 10-12 years’ experience working in the IT industry and a minimum of six (6) years progressive management experience overseeing and leading software product development teams and strategic initiatives.
• Experience in managing an IT division within a large organization in the public or private sector.
• In-depth knowledge of multiple complex business application software packages.
• Ability to develop knowledge in progressive web communication technologies.
• Experience in managing external vendor relationships.
• A broad knowledge of trends and the future directions of IT and its application in higher education.
• Excellent understanding of project management principles.
• Ability to communicate concepts and processes clearly and effectively in oral and written form.
• Demonstrate strong customer service skills.
• Ability to determine resources requirements, develop an annual financial budget sufficient to cover the cost of administration, training, technical support, supervision, procurement, system upgrades and replacements.

The person appointed as Deputy Chief Information Technology Officer (Deputy CITO) - IT Services shall hold office for a period of four years and may be eligible for re-appointment, for a further term.
