Slovakia Scholarships 2027: 225 Fully Funded Bachelor’s and Master’s Scholarships for International Students

The Slovakia Scholarships for Talented Students 2027 will award 225 scholarships to outstanding international students enrolling in eligible bachelor’s and master’s degree programmes at public universities across Slovakia. Successful applicants can receive financial support worth up to €15,000, making it easier to cover living expenses while studying in one of Central Europe’s fastest-growing education destinations.
Applications are now open for the 2026/2027 academic session, with submissions closing on 31 July 2026 at 23:59 CEST.

- €500 every month
- Funding for 10 months each academic year
- Support for up to three academic years
- Maximum scholarship value of €15,000
Master’s Degree Funding
Successful master’s students may receive:
- €500 per month
- Funding for 10 months annually
- Financial support for two academic years
- Maximum scholarship value of €10,000
The scholarship is intended to help cover accommodation, food, transportation, and other study-related living expenses while studying in Slovakia.
Although tuition fees are not automatically included, some Slovak public universities may waive tuition for eligible international scholarship recipients depending on institutional policies and the programme selected.
Number of Scholarships Available
For the 2027 intake, Slovakia plans to award 225 scholarships, distributed as follows:
- 170 scholarships for bachelor’s and integrated bachelor’s-master’s programmes
- 55 scholarships for master’s degree programmes
The awards are spread across universities located both inside and outside the Bratislava region.
Eligible Degree Programmes
The scholarship supports full-time, on-campus study only.
Eligible programmes include:
- Bachelor’s degrees
- Integrated bachelor’s and master’s degrees
- Master’s degrees
Doctoral (PhD) programmes, distance learning, and part-time courses are not covered.

Applicants must choose a programme that aligns with Slovakia’s Smart Specialisation Strategy (SK RIS3 2021+), which focuses on developing skills in sectors considered essential to the country’s future economic growth.

Who Can Apply?
The competition is open to international students worldwide.
To qualify, applicants should generally meet the following requirements:
- Hold citizenship other than Slovak citizenship (with limited exceptions for eligible Slovaks living abroad)
- Have not held permanent residence in Slovakia between 1 January 2021 and the application date
- Apply for admission to an eligible Slovak public university
- Study full-time within Slovakia
- Submit an English-language CV
- Provide a motivation letter
- Meet all admission requirements of the selected university
- Upload valid SAT or SCIO examination results
Bachelor’s Applicants
Students applying for undergraduate programmes should:
- Have completed secondary school outside Slovakia
- Not previously have studied at a Slovak higher education institution, except through recognized academic exchange programmes
Master’s Applicants
Applicants should normally:
- Hold a bachelor’s degree earned outside Slovakia; or
- Progress directly from a Slovak bachelor’s programme into an eligible master’s programme under the scholarship rules
There is no maximum age limit for applicants.
Applicants below 18 years of age must submit written consent from a parent or legal guardian.
SAT or SCIO Test Is the Main Selection Criterion
One feature that makes this scholarship different is its emphasis on standardized testing.
Instead of ranking candidates primarily through academic grades or personal achievements, selection is based mainly on aptitude test performance.
Applicants must submit one of the following:
- SAT score of at least 1,100
- Average percentile of 63 or higher in the SCIO Mathematics and General Academic Prerequisites examinations
Candidates who fail to reach the required score will not qualify for consideration.
Only one testing option may be submitted, and the official result must be uploaded before the application deadline.
