1.) Director of Flight Operations

Job Title: Director of Flight Operations

Job Summary

  • A Director of Flight Operations will play a crucial role in managing and overseeing all aspects of an airline’s or aviation organization’s flight operations, including engineering and ground operations.
  • They ensure that all flight activities comply with aviation regulations, company policies, and safety standards.
  • The Director of Flight Operations will be responsible for the overall management, direction, and coordination of all flight operations activities within the organization. This includes ensuring the safe, efficient, and effective operation of the airline’s fleet, compliance with all regulatory requirements, and the management of flight crews.

Duties / Responsiblities
Operational Management:

  • Oversee day-to-day flight operations, ensuring all flights are conducted safely, on time, and within budget.
  • Develop and implement operational policies and procedures to enhance safety, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Coordinate with other departments such as engineering & maintenance, ground operations, and dispatchers to ensure seamless operations.

Safety and Compliance:

  • Ensure all flight operations comply with local and international aviation regulations like ICAO, NCAA, and other regulated local and international bodies.
  • Implement and maintain the Safety Management System (SMS), ensuring the organization meets or exceeds safety standards.
  • Conduct regular safety audits, risk assessments, and investigations to identify and mitigate potential hazards.

Crew Management:

  • Supervise the recruitment, training, and performance evaluation of pilots and other flight crew members.
  • Develop and maintain a culture of safety, professionalism, and continuous improvement among flight crews.
  • Manage crew scheduling and ensure compliance with duty time regulations.

Regulatory Liaison:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact with aviation regulatory authorities like NCAA, IATA, ICAO, etc.
  • Ensure the organization remains informed of and compliant with new or changing regulations.  Represent the company in discussions with regulatory bodies, industry groups, and other stakeholders’ meetings.

Financial Management:

  • Develop and manage the flight operations budget, ensuring cost-effective operations
  • Monitor and control operational costs, including fuel, crew expenses, and maintenance
  • Identify opportunities for cost savings without compromising safety or service quality.

Strategic Planning:

  • Contribute to the development of the organization’s strategic goals and objectives.
  • Lead initiatives to expand or improve flight operations, including fleet expansion, route development, and technology adoption
  • Analyze and report on operational performance, including key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Prepare, publish, revise, and keep up-to-date Operations Manual. Ensures that flight crew act according to the published procedures and principles in the operational manual content.

Crisis Management:

  • Develop and implement emergency response plans for flight operations.
  • Lead the organization’s response to flight-related incidents or emergencies.
  • Coordinate with other departments and external agencies during crises.

Experience & Qualification

  • Bachelor's Degree in Aviation, Aerospace Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred)
  • Airline Transport Pilot License (ATPL) or Commercial Pilot License (CPL) preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in aviation, with at least 5 years in a managerial or supervisory role in flight operations.
  • In-depth knowledge of aviation regulations, safety management systems, and flight operations procedures.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and decision-making skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities
  • Proficiency in using flight operations management software and tools.

2.) Training Manager

Job Summary

  • The Training Manager is responsible for overseeing the design, development, and delivery of all training programs in United Nigeria Airlines.
  • This role ensures that all employees, from cabin crew to ground staff, receive the necessary training to meet regulatory requirements and maintain the highest standards of safety, service, and operational efficiency.
  • The Training Manager will work closely with departmental heads, regulatory bodies, and external training providers to ensure that training programs are aligned with industry standards and the strategic goals of United Nigeria Airlines.

Duties / Responsiblities
Training Strategy & Development:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive training strategy that supports the airline’s objectives and complies with regulatory requirements
  • Identify training needs across various departments and design appropriate training programs to address these needs
  • Ensure training materials are up-to-date and reflect the latest industry standards, regulations, and best practices

Training Delivery:

  • Oversee the delivery of training programs, including onboarding, recurrent training, and specialized training for specific roles (e.g., pilots, cabin crew, ground staff).

3.) Quality & Safety Manager

Job Title: Quality & Safety Manager

Job Summary

  • The Quality and Safety Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of quality assurance and safety programs within the airline.
  • This role ensures compliance with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and internal policies.
  • The manager will develop, implement, and monitor safety management systems (SMS), quality control processes, and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and safety.
  • The QSM is responsible for the day-to-day management of safety and security risks in United Nigeria Airlines operations.

Duties / Responsiblities
Safety Management:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain the airline’s Safety Management System (SMS) in accordance with regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct safety risk assessments and hazard analyses, and ensure that mitigation strategies are effectively implemented.
  • Oversee incident and accident investigations, ensuring that root causes are identified, and corrective actions are taken.
  • Promote a safety culture throughout the organization by conducting training, workshops, and awareness programs.
  • Liaise with aviation authorities and other regulatory bodies regarding safety issues and compliance.

Quality Assurance:

  • Develop and implement the Quality Management System (QMS) to ensure compliance with industry standards (e.g., IOSA, ISO, NCAA)
  • Conduct regular audits and inspections of operational procedures, maintenance practices, and other critical functions to ensure adherence to quality standards.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the QMS and identify areas for continuous improvement.

Regulatory Compliance:

  • Ensure compliance with all relevant aviation regulations, including those set by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) and other applicable bodies.
  • Keep up-to-date with changes in aviation regulations and standards, and ensure the airline’s operations remain compliant and monitor all internal exemptions related to maintenance program and Mel
  • Prepare and submit reports to regulatory bodies as required and monitor the expiry date of the AOC and ensures it is renewed on time.

Incident Management:

  • Lead the investigation of safety incidents and quality non-conformances
  • Collaborate with relevant departments to develop and implement corrective and preventive actions
  • Maintain incident reporting systems and ensure accurate documentation of all safety and quality incidents.

Training and Development:

  • Develop and deliver training programs related to safety, quality, and compliance for staff at all levels.
  • Provide guidance and support to staff on safety and quality matters
  • Ensure that all personnel are aware of their responsibilities regarding safety and quality
  • Lead initiatives to improve safety performance, operational efficiency, and quality standards.

  • Excellent communication and leadership abilities.

  • Certified Aviation Quality Auditor (CAQA) or similar certification is preferred

4.) Chief Security Officer (CSO)

  • The Chief Security Officer (CSO) is responsible for the development, implementation, and management of the airline’s security strategy, ensuring the safety and security of passengers, employees, aircraft, and facilities.
  • The CSO oversees all aspects of security operations, including threat assessment, crisis management, regulatory compliance, and liaison with government agencies.

Security Strategy and Leadership:
