Miro Forestry Ghana Limited is a sustainable forestry plantation developer and manufacturer of timber products. The company has its offices located at Drobonso, sekyere Afram Plains District in the Ashanti Region of Ghana, with plantations near Agogo and Mampong. We are currently seeking:

1.) Cost Accountant
2.) Human Resource Officer
3.) Workshop Supervisor
4.) Occupational Health and Safety Officer

1.) Cost Accountant

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Responsible for preparation of Sales Tax invoices to customers or clients
• Update and maintain asset register and verify physical assets
• Responsible for preparing of stamped dispatched notes for all vehicles for plywood delivery
• Responsible for keeping accurate filing system for all company customers or clients for accessibility
• Responsible for preparation of monthly statement of accounts for all company customers
• Carrying out of Debt collection for due invoices
• Assist finance manager in the preparation of monthly trial balance for plymill division for consolidation to the main trial balance of the company




• Responsible to conduct and coordinate quarterly and year end physical stock-take procedures for checking with records and verification of all stock items
• Develop and maintain the cost accounting system, documents and job costing records of the Plymill
• Analyse production costs and prepare regular reports comparing standard costs to actual production costs
• Make estimates of new and proposed product costs
• Analyse production and operating costs recommending cost savings and waste reduction
• Responsible for stock costing and control

Qualification Required & Experience

• At least a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance from a recognised university
• Qualified Chartered Accountant of Ghana and member of good standing with institute of Chartered Accountant of Ghana (ICAG)
• At least 2 years financial or cost accounting work experience most preferably in Forestry Industry or in a manufacturing entity

2.) Human Resource Officer

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Assist in compiling monthly department report
• Effective monitoring of Clocking system at all locations
• Support in completion of job application materials and documentations and preparation of employment interviews and tests
• Welcome new employees to the organisation by ensuring the necessary procedures are preformed and conducting orientation (Medicals and induction)
• Ensure the administering staff welfare, medicals, benefits, programmes and events
• Maintain and employee information by entering and updating employment and status-change data
• Maintain and develop the filing system of personnel
• Assist in liaising between labour union and management
• Continuously update disciplinary records
• Keep all leave and sick records of all employees up-to-date
• Assist in the recruitment and selection process by informing selected candidates of their interview dates and time, preparing CV summaries for various roles, preparing the interview pack for the panelists abd ensuring that the interview room is ready
• Administer staff correspondences including termination, resignation, etc
• Arrange pay out to the beneficiaries/dependents of deceased employees
• Monthly update of staff list
• Perform any other activities assigned by the Human Resource Manager

Qualification Required & Experience

• Minimum of Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources Management

Experience

• At least 3 years personnel and industrial relations experience, including 2 years administrative experience

Personal qualities and competencies

• Ability to interpret the labour Act 651 of 2003
• Maintain confidentiality at work
• Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
• Establish and maintain effective work relations with all stakeholders
• Understanding of occupational health, safety and environmental issues

3.) Workshop Supervisor

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Service and repair labour trucks
• Service and repair tractors and heavy equipment i.e dozers, graders, etc
• Service and repair of staff vehicles i.e pick-ups
• Control of work allocation and subordinates
• Workshop housekeeping
• Workshop equipment and tools control
• Report problems and incidents concerning vehicles and equipment to Technical manager/senior silviculture forester/general manager
• Safety of workshop staff and safe working conditions

Qualification Required & Experience

• Polytechnic certificate in mechanical or motor engineering or equivalent computer knowledge i.e Microsoft Office, etc

Experience

• At least 5 years experience in the repair and servicing of heavy equipment and vehicles
• Experience in workshop supervision and service scheduling and maintenance records

Personal qualities and competencies

• Ability to diagnose technical problems and rectify
• Deliver to supervise, motivate and control subordinates
• Perform records management
• Work independently in the absence of supervision
• Respond to requests and inquiries from drivers / operators and line management effectively and timeously
• Understand and follow oral and written instructions
• Understand occupational health, safety and environmental issues

4.) Occupational Health and Safety Officer

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Design and develop an occupational health & safety management plan (OHSMP)
• Actively work towards the company's achievement of FSC certification
• Health and safety management system
• Incident, accident and near Miss Management
• Road safety Management
• Actively work towards the company's full compliance with the international labour organisation (ILO) guidelines
• Engage regularly with relevant stakeholders and train employees on OHS issues
• Management and leadership

Qualification Required & Experience

• A degree in environmental science, forestry management, safety management or a related field. A Master's Degree would be an added advantage
• A minimum of 3 years post qualification work experience in a similar role and industry

Experience

• A minimum of 3 years post qualification work experience in a similar role and industry

Personal qualities and competencies

• The position requires a dynamic and responsible individual with a strong interest in international health and safety standards
• The individual must be self-motivated and team oriented, able to work independently and committed to responsible forest stewardship
• Knowledge of the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC), as well as international finance cooperation (IFC-Guidance Note/Performance Standard and all enactments relating to best OHS management practices
• Good communication skills in English and Twi
• Proficiency with MS Office is absolutely essential
• Experience with project planning software would be an added advantage
• Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written communications, sound presentation, analytical and computer skills
