IJM Ghana partners with Ghanaian law enforcement officials to identify and rescue children who have been enslaved in Ghana’s fishing industry on Lake Volta. We create customized care plans for each survivor, and we work with government social service agencies and private aftercare providers to ensure children have a safe place to grow in freedom.

1.) Coordinator, Information Systems

 

The Need

After almost 25 years of continued growth and operational success in pioneering the work of protecting those who are experiencing poverty from violence, IJM has become a $100+ million organization. International Justice Mission, Ghana is seeking for applications for Coordinator, Information Systems to provide technical support and monitor compliance with IJM’s Information Systems security policies.

The position will be based in Accra. The position holder will work closely with the Senior GTS Lead, West Africa and report to the Associate Director, Administration.

Responsibilities

• Maintain staff workstations and network equipment to IJM’s standards.
• Assist with troubleshooting, networking, hardware and software issues.
• Monitor helpdesk tickets and manage technology cases within the Ghana offices (Accra and Tamale).
• Provide technical support on audio/video interview related activities.
• Monitor compliance with IJM’s Information Systems security policies and protocols.
• Carry out additional assignments as directed by the Senior GTS Lead, West Africa, Director of Administration, Country Director, or his/her designee.

Qualification Required & Experience

• A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or any closely related program.
• Technical troubleshooting and problem solving skills.
• A working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365.
• Experience managing online helpdesk ticketing systems such as ServiceNow.

2.) Attorney (Tamale)

 

The Need

International Justice Mission, Ghana is seeking for a talented Lawyer who will assist in representing victims of child trafficking in investigations and seeking criminal accountability for perpetrators of labor trafficking crimes within the project area.

This position will be based in Tamale, Northern Region, Ghana and will report to the Director, Tamale Projects.

Responsibilities

• Support Ghana Police and Prosecutors in the investigation and prosecution of child/forced labor trafficking perpetrators.
• Conduct research, brief writing and oral advocacy on behalf of IJM clients.
• Track case related data on paper and electronic case tracking management systems.
• Attend and/or participate in all legal proceedings relevant to assigned cases.
• Maintain accurate and updated documentation of legal proceedings in assigned cases.
• Perform legal research and draft pleadings as necessary in assigned cases.
• Ensure legal custody of rescued children for partner shelters and compliance with child protection laws and policies.
• Identify, develop and implement capacity building programs to strengthen the Public Justice System.
• Monitor legal policy information and developments which are or may be applicable to IJM.
• Advise management on internal legal documents, proceedings and organizational risk.
• Carry out additional assignments as directed by the Justice Sector Manager, Country Director, or his/her designee.

Qualification Required & Experience

Skills and Experience

• Professional Certificate in Law and a member of the Ghana Bar Association in good standing.
• A degree in Law.
• Two (2) years of experience as a practicing attorney.
• Strong critical thinking, legal analysis and oral and written advocacy skills.
• Computer literate and proficient in Microsoft applications.
• Experience in criminal litigation preferred.
• Strong cross-cultural abilities to work in an international environment.
• Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English.
• Driver’s License preferred.
• Strong legal research and writing skills

Travel Requirements

• This position requires travel to various regions across Ghana.
• Willingness to work under potentially hazardous conditions.

3.) Social Worker

 

The Need

IJM Ghana, is seeking for a talented Social Worker to serve within the Aftercare Team, to facilitate psycho-social services for survivors of trafficking and their primary caregivers.

This position is based in Accra, with frequent travel to other regions in Ghana, and reports to the Manager, Aftercare.

Responsibilities

Crisis Care and Case Management Services

• Work with government partners to provide immediate crisis care, advocacy and assessments for victims coming out of trafficking situations and ensure all victims receive legally mandated government protections.
• Facilitate comprehensive assessments, treatment planning and service implementation towards the safe reunification and restoration of the survivor, in line with best practice standards.
• Engage, prepare and support victims and witnesses throughout judicial proceedings in partnership with multidisciplinary teams of advocates and care providers.
• Provide mentoring and support to social welfare officers and other stakeholders to empower survivors of trafficking to restoration by conducting holistic assessments, developing individualized care plans, coordinating psychosocial services for survivors, monitoring and reporting survivor progress towards defined psychosocial goals and assessing sustainable safety at the time of case closure.

Partnership Development

• Build effective, trusting partnership relationships with justice system officials, social welfare officers, and other stakeholders on a regional and national level.
• Develop a network of collaborative partnerships within key program areas that are equipped to serve the holistic needs of IJM aftercare participants, including service providers in the areas of health, education, income generation, protective services, mental health, basic needs (i.e. food, housing) and other relevant needs.

Training and Development

• Develop and deliver high-quality, professional training curriculum to multi-disciplinary stakeholders on best practices in trauma informed case management and service provision.
• Support joint training programs with police, judiciary, and social welfare on survivor-friendly and trauma-informed interventions, for survivors of trafficking.
• Provide mentoring and support to social welfare officers and justice officials to ensure that survivors of trafficking are provided trauma-informed protection and support towards restoration.

Documentation

• Thoroughly document and monitor service provision and progress of survivors within IJM’s internal electronic database, and other reports as required.
• Effectively record and analyze cases of trafficking to contribute to effective Justice System reform processes and capacity building efforts.
• Carry out additional assignments as required by the Director of Justice Projects.

Qualification Required & Experience

Skills and Experience

• Master’s Degree in psychology, or social work preferred.
• Minimum of two years relevant experience in provision of case management services, implementing psychosocial assessments and interventions.
• Significant experience in working with vulnerable groups or survivors of trauma and providing psychosocial services.
• Ability to provide service interventions in a trauma-informed manner.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, partners and client groups receiving services.
• Experience in building collaborative partnerships with other social service providers.
• Computer literate with proficiency in MS Word, Outlook and Excel.
• Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English.
• Fluency in Ewe and Twi preferred.
• Driver’s License preferred.
