1.) Communications Officer

Job Title: Communications Officer

Location: Abuja
Employment Type: Full-time

Job Description

  • The Communications Officer will manage the development and implementation of the RoLAC II programme’s communication and visibility plan.
  • They will optimize awareness of International IDEA’s work in Nigeria and oversee the production of regional communication tools aligned with target groups, raising awareness of both public and technical audiences.
  • The incumbent will also act as the media focal point and will lead in developing and implementing social media campaigns.

Key responsibilities for this position include:

  • Provides communications and media support to all partners within the programme; Regularly holds communications meetings with the focal points of all partners to stay well-informed about planned activities, upcoming events and campaigns; Coordinates the inputs from programme partners;
  • Uploads content generated by the programme to the relevant communication forum as needed;
  • Responds to media/press inquiries and pitches Op-Eds and stories to media for placement;
  • Maintains the programme database, soliciting and including regular updates; Contributes to and regularly updates the programme’s press lists;
  • Undertakes regular media monitoring (on social and traditional media) for references to programme activities;
  • Establishes, maintains and actively manages relationships with the media to raise the profile and credibility of the programme;
  • Organizes and coordinates media and visibility events for the programme;
  • Serves as a content editor; Writes and edits web articles, tweets, social media posts, press releases and other outreach content as necessary; Quality assures audio, video and graphic materials;
  • Coordinates the timely content development of programme newsletters and manages an editorial calendar for the proposed content and themes;
  • Creates clear infographics and digital assets for use online and in presentations;
  • Implements the European Union’s communications and social media strategy for all social media channels; Reviews and updates the programme’s social media guidelines as needed.

Requirements
The Communications Officer must possess and be able to demonstrate:

  • University Degree or equivalent work experience in Communications, Journalism, International Relations or a related subject;
  • Minimum of five (5) years professional experience in a similar role, or, as a journalist or writer in communications for development, with a focus in social media and preferably in an international context;
  • Experience in communications strategy development and implementation;
  • Experience engaging with the media and preparing press releases;
  • Experience creating and maintaining social media campaigns;
  • Solid experience in preparing and writing material for social media channels and a range of traditional media and for the web;
  • Knowledge of social media tools, Google Analytics, style sheets, photoshops and content management systems including Drupal;
  • Integrates a results-based approach into their activities;
  • Understands how the assigned duties relate to others in the team and how the team integrates with others throughout the organization.

2.) Communications Assistant

Job Title: Communications Assistant

Location: Abuja
Employment Type: Full-time

Job Description

  • The Communications Assistant supports the production of content for the RoLAC Programme.
  • These tasks require interfacing with teams, gathering information, prioritize content, and stay ahead of news and events.
  • The Communications Assistant provides assistance in writing, editing and targeting dissemination for the promotion of the organization’s key issues, events and resources. Primary areas of focus are media, outreach, website and social media, as identified in International IDEA’s communications strategy.
  • The Communications Assistant provides other related support in accordance with the Programme’s needs and requirements

Key responsibilities for this position include:

  • Assists the Communication Officer in the implementation of the programmes communication and visibility plan
  • Provides communications and media support to the programme’s events;
  • Assists the Head of Programme in responding to media/press inquiries and pitching of Op-Eds and stories for media placement as required;
  • Supports the regular update of the organization’s press lists;
  • Assists in the preparation and editing of web articles, social media posts, press releases, newspaper stories, audio, video, online and other outreach content in English, as required;
  • Assists in maintaining the social media handles of the programme
  • Regularly attends programme team meetings to stay well-informed about planned activities, upcoming events and campaigns; Assists with the identification of key counterparts across programme teams to facilitate information sharing;
  • Assists with the coordination of the timely content development production and dissemination of periodical newsletters and other products (such as impact reports, case stories, how-to-guides, etc) with programme colleagues and manages an editorial calendar for the proposed content and themes.

Requirements
The Communications Assistant must possess and be able to demonstrate:

  • High School Diploma required. University Degree in Communications, Journalism, International Relations, or a related subject considered an advantage
  • Minimum of three (3) years professional experience, including substantial internships, as a journalist or writer in communications for development, with a focus in social media and preferably in an international context;
  • Experience of creating and maintaining social media campaigns is advantageous;
  • Experience of working in an international context, e.g., in an intergovernmental organization, considered an advantage.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, written and spoken;
  • Proven experience in preparing and writing material for social media channels and a range of traditional media and for the web;
  • Proficiency in using Drupal, style sheets, Microsoft Office, and photography (Photoshop) and multimedia software are assets.

3.) Associate Monitoring and Evaluation Officer

Job Title: Associate Monitoring and Evaluation Officer

Job Description

  • The Monitoring and Evaluation Assistant will support the development and implementation of the RoLAC programme results management framework.
  • The incumbent will work under the supervision of the Monitoring and Evaluation Officer and in close collaboration with the team.

Key responsibilities for this position include:

  • Supports the development of monitoring and evaluation frameworks, tools, processes, and practices for the RoLAC II programme that responds to both donor and International IDEA needs;
  • Coordinates activity and outcome reporting of all programme evaluations and the monitoring of results;
  • Supports RoLAC II planning and the compilation of partner inputs; Assists effective collaboration between the programme partners;
  • Supports effective collaboration between the RoLAC II project managers and M&E officers;
  • Supports the internal and external communication of RoLAC II results (in conjunction with the Communications team);
  • Supports the development and production of all reporting under the programme, including quarterly, yearly, and final reports;
  • Participates in the continuous development of policies, guidelines, standards and tools for planning, monitoring, evaluation, and results-based management in collaboration with International IDEA’s regional office, HQ, and the donor;
  • Supports capacity building and training for national partners on monitoring and evaluation related processes; Contributes to ongoing internal training;

Requirements
The Associate Monitoring & Evaluation Officer must possess and be able to demonstrate:

  • Undergraduate Degree in in Social Science, Political Sciences, Law, International Development, or other relevant discipline;
  • A minimum of three (3) years of professional experience in monitoring and evaluation, supporting monitoring and evaluation activities of international development projects, preferably with a focus on support to democratic institutions and civil society organizations;
  • Proven experience in designing, implementing, and operating project monitoring and evaluation systems from project initiation to closeout stages is essential;
  • Experience with EU funded projects and requirements, as well as familiarity with their processes and systems is essential;
  • Knowledge of the major evaluation methodologies (e.g., qualitative, quantitative, mixed method, and impact) and data collection and analysis methodologies is essential;
  • Experience in planning and managing surveys on the behavioral impact of programmes implemented is considered an advantage;
  • Experience of working in an international context, e.g., in an intergovernmental organization, considered an advantage.
  • Combines in-depth knowledge, acquired through academic achievements, and solid understanding and experience of monitoring, evaluation and learning systems and approaches, including outcome mapping tools and processes;
  • Contributes to assigned projects throughout the project life cycle; Supports strategic planning, results-based management and reporting;
  • Driven and motivated, can work independently and within a small team, to produce high-quality deliverables in a timely manner;
  • Adds value to team-based activities in his/her unit; collaborates with other stakeholders and partners in the projects as required; shows initiative;
  • Follows internal procedures to ensure high standards of performance and compliance with Institutional guidelines;

4.) State Associate Project Officer (x4)

Job Title: State Associate Project Officer

Job Description

  • The State Associate Project Officer will be responsible for supporting the planning, implementation, monitoring and reporting, and communication of the project in the state.
  • This is a fixed term appointment for 2 years after commencement.

Key responsibilities for this position include:

  • Supports the State Project Coordinator in the design, management, and oversight of state plans, strategies, and processes;
  • Coordinates and manages relationships with related partners and stakeholders, including efficient follow up with partners on tasks and expectations, and liaison with state focal persons on agreed actions;
  • Plans, organizes, and manages related events and activities at the state level;
  • Supports the State Project Coordinator, the Monitoring and Evaluation team, and other programme staff to develop, prepare, deliver, and monitor the activity implementation plan and records and measures progress against programme performance indicators;
  • Supports and actively monitors timely delivery against activity schedules, targets, and milestones on all relevant and associated interventions and assignments;
  • Ensures the collection, collation and analysis of participants and stakeholder feedback for all related interventions and events to ensure quality and effectiveness can be assessed and recommend improvement;
  • Manages all administrative aspects to ensure timely procurement in line with established organizational policies and guidelines. Quality assures and provides feedback to the Procurement Officer on the quality of services and items procured; Ensures appropriate branding of all capital equipment procured for the project, in accordance with organizational and EU branding and visibility guidelines;
  • Supports the State Project Coordinator, the Monitoring and Evaluation team, and the Communications team in gathering data and evidence to consolidate monthly, quarterly, annual and such other strategic programme reports;

Requirements
The State Associate Project Officer must possess and be able to demonstrate:

  • University Degree (or equivalent) in Social Science, Political Sciences, Law, International Development, or other relevant discipline;
  • A minimum of five (5) years professional experience in Rule of Law and/or any of the three thematic areas (Criminal Justice, Access to Justice, anti-corruption), within Nigeria is essential;
  • Experience of working with government agencies and civil society organizations in Nigeria is considered an asset;
  • Experience of working on EU projects, as well as familiarity with EU processes and systems considered an advantage;
  • Experience of working in an international context, e.g., in an intergovernmental organization, considered an advantage.
  • Requires good knowledge, excellent skills, and experience in atleast one of RoLAC II’s thematic areas (the Criminal Justice, Access to Justice, Anti-corruption), Democracy Development, parliamentary work, and project management;
  • Will contribute to assigned projects in different aspects of the project life cycle; will draft various documents (briefs, reports, concept notes, info-notes etc.) and will support the projects vis-à-vis all internal and external stakeholders;
  • Driven and motivated, can work independently and within a small team, to produce high-quality deliverables in a timely manner;
  • Adds value to team-based activities in his/her unit; collaborates with other stakeholders and partners in the projects as required; shows initiative.
