1.) Finance Officer

 

Project Brief

• The Market-Oriented Value Chains for Jobs and Growth in the ECOWAS region (MOVE) project focuses on building resilient cashew and rice value
chains to contribute to the creation of jobs and income in West Africa, with ECOWAS as its main political partner. The project is mainly funded
by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), with co-funding from the European Union and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and implemented jointly with numerous private and public partners. MOVE intervention countries include Burkina Faso, Côte d'Ivoire, Ghana, Sierra Leone, and Nigeria.







Scope of the role

• The Finance Officer is primarily responsible for providing support within the department in dealing with all questions arising in this area.

Tasks

• Ensuring that financial administration functions well in accordance with GIZ standard procedures.
• Monitors the real accounts (payables, receivables) and reports regularly to the officer responsible for the contract and cooperation and the accounting manager.
• Submits the end-of-month accounts from the project accounting, cash books and account balance vouchers (through or from WINPACCS) to the officer responsible for the contract and cooperation and forwards them to GIZ Country Office
• Ensures full compliance to internal control/ auditing rules.
• Carries out accounting procedures using WINPACCS bankbook and cashbook software, balancing both books periodically, always prepared for both regular and unannounced dash counts and bank reconciliation statements.
• Calculates travel advances and travel claims, proper checking of invoices for accuracy.
• Trains partners and advisors on accounting and financing procedures in accordance with GIZ requirements.
• Reports all problems with financial administration and compliance without delay

Qualification Required & Experience

• MBA/BSc/BA in accounting, finance, auditing, or similar area
• At least 3 years of work experience with a focus on accounting / administration in a comparable position
• Must have a good working knowledge in formal events planning with good management skills
• Good working knowledge of modern telecommunication systems, (related software, phone, fax, email, the internet) and computer applications most especially excel
• Proactive attitude towards personal growth and institutional changes
• Strong command of English language (both written and oral) is required; knowledge of German language is an asset
• Experience with working in multicultural environment, with good interpersonal relationship and negotiation skills.
• Rendering result orientated performance; willingness to take up responsibility

2.) Junior Logistics (Fleet) Officer

 

Project Brief

• A key element of national development agenda of Ghana is creating new and better jobs for a growing young generation. The intervention
of areas of the Sustainable Economic Development in Ghana (PSED) program: Support to the reform in the Technical Vocational Training sector (TVET), Financial System Development (FSD), implementation of Migration and Employment Promotion (MEP) and support for digitization (DIGIT) contribute to this endeavor by improving the conditions for creation of decent and productive employment.

Scope of the role

• The Junior Logistic (Fleet) Officer provides support in ensuring that Fleet and Logistic regulations are complied with GIZ PuR and local legislation of Ghana.

Tasks

• Regularly checks emails/MS Teams or other IT Software tools for fleet coordination and updates the schedule of drivers accordingly.
• Takes digital records on the schedule of the leave and absence of drivers.
• Monitors and requests road worthiness (TUV) and files the digital version of it.
• Digitally monitors and requests for updates and renewal of drivers’ licenses and drivers medical screening certificates.
• Ensures logbooks are provided to the Finance team.
• Takes digital records and monitors car regular maintenance in support of fleet coordinator
• Defines the needs on improvement in the fleet management pool and reports to his/her superior in a written report.
• Ensures that the fleet coordination software or other tools are working and serviced according to the software licences and warranty services

Qualification Required & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Administration, Event, Communication, IT, Management, or similar area
• 1 – 3 years professional work experience in comparable position or in administration
• Very good working knowledge of ITC technologies (related software, phone, fax, email, the internet) and applications (e.g. MS Office)
• Good customer service oriented
• Outstanding management and communication skills
• Confidential handling of information on staff data and finances
• Very good knowledge of English language, a basic knowledge of German is an advantage
• Willingness to upskill as required by the tasks to be performed – corresponding measures are agreed with management

3.) Driver

 

Project Brief

• The project is supporting the Ministry of Energy in Ghana in improving the financial sustainability of the energy sector and the framework conditions for promoting investments in renewable energies and energy efficiency and aims at strengthening the Ghanaian climate goals and sustainable and inclusive economic development.

Scope of the role

• As a Driver will be safely and responsibly performing all official travel using official vehicles, regularly service and take care of official vehicles, take account of all available information on road conditions, accessible routes and locations and assist with other office work, when not driving.

Tasks

• Provide passenger transport in an official car for office, project, official visitors and guests as well as consultants.
• Run errands for the project, e.g. sending letters and messages, paying bills and buying smaller quantities of office supplies.
• Help with transporting goods and complete the vehicle log correctly and conscientiously in accordance with GIZ standards as well as clean the interior and exterior of the vehicle(s) regularly, ensure the vehicle is always clean and check the car regularly.
• Responsible for the project vehicle documents and their good condition, keeping a vehicle log and recording monthly maintenance
• Calculate monthly petrol, oil and lubricant consumption for the daily cash fund and report need for service and carry out minor repairs.
• Assist other colleagues as needed in the project, programme or office if there is no travel or chauffeur service pending, carries out other office work on request

Qualification Required & Experience

• Secondary school education
• Holds a valid driver’s licence D
• At least 1-3 years’ work experience as a driver with references
• No major accidents in the past 3 years
• Good knowledge of the English language in wirtten and oral language.
• Disciplined and punctual, resilient and patient
• Familiarity with Ghana and the districts and regional capitals
• Appropriate appearance and attire
• Willingness to upskill as required by the tasks to be performed – corresponding measures are agreed with management

4.) Technical Advisor

 

Project Brief

• Under the German Government’s public-private-partnership program develoPPP, GIZ is joining forces with an international apparel company to further enable auspicious producers of Ghana’s emerging apparel industry to enter business relationships with new international customers by
meeting international production, quality and compliance standards.

Scope of the role

• The technical advisor is responsible for both the development and implementation of production-related capacity building in selected garment factories in line with international production, quality and compliance requirements and thus for the operational implementation of GIZ’s contribution to the PPP.

Tasks

• Develop and implement production-related, hands-on capacity building and support measures for selected apparel factories in line with international production, quality and compliance requirements.
• Ensure that factories understand the client’s specific production requirements and supports with supervising orders from new international clients.
• Responsible for the overall management of the project in close coordination with the company partner (an international apparel company) and the develoPPP Team Leader.
• Develop detailed training and improvement plans for all factories and adapts them flexibly and based on current needs.
• Monitor progress in achieving project indicators and objectives.
• Support the develoPPP Team Leader with the financial and contractual management of the project.
• Develop and maintain contact with all important stakeholders from the Ghanaian apparel industry (incl. other donors).
• Provide relevant information for the project's public relations work.

Qualification Required & Experience

• University degree in an area that is related to the project objectives, e.g. MSc in Garment Manufacturing (Technology), MSc in Management of Textile Trade and Technology or Diploma of a recognized Training Institute for Garment Industry Management in areas such as Quality control, work study, pattern making combined with at least 10 years of relevant working experience in apparel manufacturing in a factory setting.
• At least 2 years of experience in conducting training, ideally with the experience in the design and implementation of trainings for
professionals.
• Working experience in Ghana’s apparel sector is an advantage.
• Proven application of lean manufacturing concepts is an asset.
• Able to demonstrate experience of working independently.
• Passion for transferring skills locally and developing capacity.
• Capability of prioritizing tasks and activities to achieve project objectives.
• Strong cross-cultural communication and presentation skills.
• Good working knowledge of ITC technologies (related software, email, the internet) and computer applications (e.g. MS Office).
• Willingness to spend a large portion of working time in factory settings.
