Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Designing, developing, delivering and maintaining best-in-class Compliance, programs, policies and practices for ICRM.
  • Translating ICRM strategy and goals across Citi’s clients, products and geographies in a succinct and clear manner; provide direction and guidance on the programs. Serves as a subject matter expert on Citi’s Compliance programs.

Additional duties as assigned, including:

  • Acting as the West Africa Data Protection Officer with lead responsibility for advising and monitoring data protection requirements, and escalating matters as appropriate to the EMEA Chief Privacy Officer, the West Africa Compliance Head and relevant governance forums.
  • Facilitating compliance with and advising on local data protection, privacy and banking confidentiality laws to Citi branches and subsidiaries across West Africa.
  • Assisting with the design and delivery of the global privacy program, including policies, standards and procedures, tools, monitoring, metrics and reporting and sharing leading practices with other DPOs and business stakeholders.
  • Acting as a point of contact between Citi Legal Entities in West Africa and the local privacy regulators and co-operating with the regulators and any other relevant authority on matters relating to privacy including local regulatory reporting as required by country privacy laws and joining forums organized by external bodies, where appropriate.
  • Reviewing and advising on West Africa data protection impact assessments, where necessary; developing an understanding of local data processing activities, data flows and associated privacy risks.

Education level and relevant experience
Required:

  • A minimum of First Degree or its equivalent in any discipline plus a relevant higher degree or professional qualification.
  • Candidates must also have a minimum of 15 years postgraduation experience, out of which at least 10 must have been in the banking industry and at least 2 as Assistant General Manager.
  • Evidence of experience in at least three (3) major areas of banking operations.
  • Experience in compliance, legal or other control-related function preferably in a financial services firm, regulatory organization, or legal/consulting firm, or a combination thereof.
  • Knowledge of the local privacy laws and regulations in the West Africa presence and hub managed countries.
  • Experience in advising on and implementing practical solutions for privacy/compliance issues.

Preferred:

  • Advanced degree (e.g. JD, MBA) a plus.

  • The KYC Operations Analyst is an intermediate-level position responsible for Anti-Money Laundering (AML) monitoring, governance, oversight and regulatory reporting activities in coordination with the Compliance and Control team.
  • The overall objective of this role is to develop and manage a dedicated internal KYC (Know Your Client) program at Citi, as well as to serve as Subject Matter Expert within the KDG area, proving necessary oversight and training to other KDG colleagues as well as taking an active participation in current KDG projects and activities.

Job Description

  • Citi continues to enhance its business control and governance framework by building out Institutional Credit Management (ICM), a new function in the 1st Line of Defense, to house and consistently manage credit risk activities performed across its Institutional Client Group (ICG) organization.ICM’s objective is to provide integrated “end-to-end” credit underwriting, identification, measurement, management, and monitoring for wholesale credit risk across the ICG.
  • Within ICM, the Credit Underwriting function (ICM-UW) provides analysis, greenlight, underwriting, 1st Line of Defense credit approval and subsequent credit monitoring across all ICG wholesale credit businesses including Banking Capital Markets & Advisory (BCMA), Global Structured Products, Financings & Securitizations (GSP-F&S), Treasury & Trade Solutions (TTS), and Markets & Securities Services (MSS).
  • Each West and Central Africa Corporate Credit Underwriter covers large and complex relationships with corporates, financial institutions and public sector clients within West and Central Africa including Nigeria and Ghana, being responsible for all underwriting activities, in partnership with BCMA and Risk (2nd Line of Defense).
  • This role reports directly to the Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA) ICM Corporate Credit Underwriting Cluster Head.

Key Responsibilities
Executes, aligned with global and regional strategies, all responsibilities regarding underwriting, including, but not limited to:

  • Adoption of leading practices in credit analysis, underwriting, and monitoring, including the end-to-end underwriting process, from early origination discussions, to development of credit approval memos, and senior approval forums
  • Ensure Credit Approval Memo (CAM) packages are complete and accurate
  • Detailed reviews of financial data, projection modeling, stress testing, and other in-depth analysis performed by junior resources in IRAU (the ICG Risk Analysis Unit)
  • Balance business opportunities within Citi’s Risk appetite framework
