3.) Team Member, Investor Relations

Job Description

  • Participate in the formulation of UBA’s investor relations policies, objectives & initiatives.
  • Participate in the bank’s drive to attract more investments from identified target groups.
  • Contribute to the development of an active relationship with existing and potential investors and external investment analysis (both buy and sell side).
  • Manage reporting calendar, including road shows, meetings, results announcements and conference calls.
  • Organize meetings with independent shareholder associations in preparation for annual general meetings (AGM).
  • Monitor Nigerian and international press for accuracy of reporting IR issues & internal dissemination as appropriate.
  • Responsible for ensuring the timely production of quality annual reports and other internal reports (including monthly departmental reports, quarterly board report, company fact sheet etc.).
  • Liaise with UBA Registrars to ensure needs of retail shareholders are being effectively dealt with.
  • Contribute to the development and delivery of investor relations materials to existing and potential investors.
  • Act as resource within UBA to help guide effective public disclosure consistent with regulatory and best practice guidelines.
  • Assist Head, Strategy & Performance Management in shareholder targeting and analysis.
  • Work on influencing sell-side coverage towards ensuring more followers and more publishing from followers.
  • Maintain an accurate and updated database of analysts, institutional investors and other contact that are critical to IR’s core function.

4.) Team Member, Revenue Assurance

 

Location: Nigeria

Job Description

  • Perform a monthly review of interest income and fees and commission lines to ascertain the completeness and accuracy of recognized income.
  • Ensure proper mapping of all asset lines to corresponding income lines and unbundling of P&L accounts where necessary.
  • Ensure the integrity of revenue related system generated entries and GL accounts
  • Ensure the automation of all manually recognized income to reduce human errors.
  • Proactively engage process owners to identify manual processes and automate them using ACL.
  • Timely and high-quality delivery on other assignments /tasks assigned by supervisor, including support towards interim/annual audits.

5.) Legal Officer, Rest of Africa

 

Location: Nigeria

Job Objective(s)

  • Responsibility for legal oversight in the subsidiaries
  • Ensure coordination and adequate management of cases in the subsidiaries
  • Manage the litigation portfolio to ensure that the Bank is adequately protected
  • Review contracts, facility and security documentation to ensure that the Bank is adequately secured
  • Provide effective legal support and advisory services to the subsidiaries and ensure excellent customer experience.

Reporting Relationships:

  • Functionally reports to:  Head, Subsidiary Legal, UBA Africa
  • Administratively reports to:  Group Head Legal, UBA Plc.




Role and Responsibilities

  • Review legal agreements, provide opinion and quality advice in line with the local laws and generally ensure the bank’s interest is protected
  • Prompt and strategic review and assessment of litigation portfolio to ensure that the Bank is adequately protected.
  • Review and assessment of the Bank’s defence in matters in litigation and recommendation on settlement in respect of cases in which the Bank has no defence
  • Effective prosecution of fraud cases to ensure judicially logical conclusions to serve as deterrent to others.
  • Compile list of fresh actions instituted against the Bank on monthly basis to be included to the schedule pending cases.
  • Review interlocutory injunctive order and Judgments entered against the Bank in order to determine whether to submit to judgment or whether there are sufficient grounds on which to sustain an appeal
  • Represent the Bank and participate in the mediation sessions and engage in negotiating settlement in terms most favorable to the Bank
  • Review contracts, facility and security documentation to ensure that the Bank is adequately secured
  • Provide effective legal support and advisory services to the subsidiaries and ensure excellent customer experience
  • Liaise with subsidiary Heads of Legal and solicitors on matters in litigation and respond to requests from subsidiaries on such matters.
  • Ensure implementation of structured changes to initiatives affecting the subsidiaries
  • Perform other functions delegated by the Unit Head or Divisional Head

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • Litigation Claims retention: Minimize claims due lost legal cases
  • Litigation Success Rate. Ensure successful prosecution of cases instituted by the Bank through diligent follow up and provision of adequate support to external solicitors
  • Execution of judgment against the Bank leading to business disruption. Zero (0) incidences across African subsidiaries.
  • Achieve a satisfactory Board Corporate Governance rating by external auditors

  • Documentation/Reviews: Ensuring Comprehensive Legal Review of Agreements/Contracts/Facility Documents are carried out in line with stipulated TAT in the Operational Frame.
  • Providing Top-notch Advisory services through: (1) Timely delivery of legal opinion/advice to subsidiaries in line with agreed Service Level Agreement (SLA) / TAT  (2) Review/draft letters, or other documents before issuance by Subsidiary Legal Offices (3) Organizing Monthly COP meetings to share opinions and discuss key issues among legal officers. from subsidiaries

Education Requirements

  • Minimum education level - Bachelor’s Degree in Law. Must be a registered lawyer under the legal association of the country.




Experience:

  • Minimum experience - 7 years post call experience in Legal Advisory & Company Secretarial/Governance preferably in a financial institution;
  • Work experience in/with relevant regulatory bodies will be an added advantage.

Competencies:
Knowledge:

  • Good knowledge of the Civil Law / OHADA Business Law systems in African Francophone and Anglophone countries
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Corporate Governance best practice

6.) Relationship Manager - Asian Desk, Corporate Banking

 

Location: Nigeria

Job Profile

  • We are looking for Relationship Managers who have strong marketing and negotiation skills to manage our Asian clients in Corporate, Commercial, SME as well as Personal Banking.
  • The ideal candidates must have at least 3 years’ experience in corporate banking or client relationship and must be fluent in either Mandarin, Hindi, Japanese and English.

  • Delivering Liability and Asset growth targets per portfolio.
  • Grow the customer base to increase fees and commissions.
  • Contribution to the business growth targets through increased customer transaction-activity and deepening of customer share of wallet.
  • Direct responsibility for building your portfolio through disciplined calling, and strategic positioning of the bank to the customers in this segment through increased product set, appropriate pricing structures and deploying the right solutions in line with customer requirements.
  • Profit maximization through new business opportunities from new and existing clients through various marketing and networking initiatives.

  • Prospecting for new corporate and high net worth clients and meeting set targets.
  • Support other Relationship Managers handling Asian clients (Chinese, Indian, Japanese) in Corporate Banking, Commercial Banking, SME Banking as well as Personal Banking.
  • Develop and implement business growth strategies for different clients/sectors for the bank.
  • Actively manage existing clients including increasing wallet share.
  • Participate in presentations to clients and marketing drives and other relationship management activities.
  • Provide an interface between the bank, existing and prospective customers to maintain good customer relations to meet customer needs within the strategic objective of the bank.
  • Prepare and submit credit proposals in conformity with credit policy guidelines and requirements in liaison with the Corporate Relationship Managers and to maintain a high standard of credit analysis.
  • Ensure full understanding of client’s financial needs and all bank products and services.
  • Regularly visit clients, make presentations and meetings with visit reports.
  • High level negotiation to get new and additional business.
  • Prepare various reports including customized client proposals according to client need.
  • Coordinate with various departments like credit, treasury etc. for delivery of seamless service to client.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Marketing or other business-related field from a well-recognized institution.
  • At least 3 years proven working experience in a corporate banking environment with exposure to credit analysis or client relationship environment with exposure to managing corporate clients.
  • Fluency in either Mandarin, Hindi, Japanese and English.
  • Other Professional courses will be an added advantage.

  • Good working knowledge of credit analysis.
  • A sound understanding of cash - flow cycles pertaining to the industry being analysed.
  • Good knowledge of cash management solutions and trade finance practices and procedures.

  • A strong working knowledge of the terms and conditions of multiple legal entities (companies, close corporations, sole proprietorships etc.).

7.) Industry Specialist

Purpose

  • As industry specialists, the primary purpose of the role is to greenlight credits in their Industry, applying their professional knowledge in the credit assessment prior to any approval.
  • The role holder will also be expected to become Certified Senior Credit Officers following intensive Senior Credit Officer training programme which will place them in positions to grant approvals

Roles and Responsibilities
The Industry Specialists will be responsible for the following:

  • Development of Industry Studies which will include an identification of Target Market/RAAC for their specific Industries. This will highlight Key Risk Issues and appropriate Mitigants to guide marketing efforts.
  • Assessment of credits in their specific area and identifying any structural weaknesses which must be mitigated before giving approval to proceed.
  • Lead in project finance in the area of expertise to ensure all areas of ambiguity or uncertainty are addressed and adequately mitigated through structuring and other conditions.
  • Train and mentor other staff to build a reservoir of expertise for the Group.

The Specialists will be from the following industries:

Person Specification

  • At least 5 years must have been at top management level (AGM in banking sector or equivalent).
  • Must have demonstrated knowledge of the complexities of the Industry with verifiable and quantitative evidence e.g. participated in the execution of at least 5 major projects in the Industry etc.
