Green Africa Youth Organization (GAYO), is a youth-led gender-balanced advocacy group which focuses largely on environmental sustainability and community development.

Founded in the year 2014, we are dedicated to developing the human interest to observe basic natural laws and adopt the behaviour of living in harmony with nature. Our goal is to create a balanced relationship between humans and the various natural systems on which they depend in such a way that all the components are accorded a proper degree of sustainability. Over the years our work has been in diverse fields including climate change, disaster risk reduction, sustainable agriculture, and renewable energy activism.

1.) Research Officer
GAYO has identified the need for an organizational research function to spearhead our research needs and improve our research capacity. Under the supervision of the Executive Director, the Research Officer will conduct high-quality, sector-relevant applied research, focusing on climate change and adaptation-related themes.  S/he will be in charge of providing technical guidance related to planning research projects for the organization and will ensure effective linkage of our research with international sector-related conventions and frameworks (Sendai Framework, SDGs, Paris Agreement, Biodiversity convention, UNCCD, IPEN,  SAICM). As part of the role functions, the Research Officer will lead the writing of research papers, reports, briefs and policy recommendations. 2.) Finance Officer
The Finance Officer will support the flow of financial resources to Project Managers for the execution of various projects, monitor budgets and expenditures, preparation and revision of budgets, and ensure compliance with relevant financial standards. The ideal candidate is someone with a strong interest in managing accounting activities, including bank reconciliations, accounts payable and accounts receivable. The person is highly organized and able to handle time-sensitive tasks. Ultimately, she or he is responsible for the day-to-day management of GAYO’s financial transactions and procedures. 3.) Program Assistant
Over the past two years, GAYO has been developing community-based circular economy models through a flagship project tagged Sustainable Community Project (SCP). The project works with communities and local government districts to improve waste management practices while delivering green jobs to the most vulnerable in society- women and youth. Under the supervision of the SCP Project Manager, the Program Assistant will coordinate GAYOs’ Sustainable Community Project in Kumasi and support the GAYO SCP Project Managers on activities pertaining to project replication, external engagement, documenting best practices; and ensure the coherence of the SCP with other thematic areas of GAYO – climate change and disaster risk reduction. GAYO is seeking an early career professional to manage and carry out GAYOs’ activities pertaining to administration, human resources management and procurement functions.
