1.) Credit Operations and Regulatory Officer

Job Description

  • The essence of this role is to centralize all operational and regulatory responsibilities relating to the Credit function, to enhance the levels of service, compliance, timeliness, and quality of credit regulatory reporting.

Responsibilities
All regulatory Credit returns mandated by the Central Bank of Nigeria (“CBN”), including but not limited to:

  • Monthly capital adequacy and credit portfolio position reports
  • Monthly Credit Risk Management System (“CRMS”) submissions
  • Management and implementation of ongoing information updates on the CRMS

All regulatory Credit returns mandated by the CBN in respect of credit bureaus, including but not limited to:

  • Monthly credit portfolio position reports to all credit bureaus subscribed to by RMBN
  • On-going information updates on clients’ credit positions as may be required
  • All Credit regulatory returns mandated by the FirstRand Group (the “Group”) in respect of the South African Reserve
  • Bank (“SARB”) reporting requirements, including periodic credit portfolio position reports (including but not limited to BA returns)
  • All regulatory Credit returns mandated by the FirstRand Group in respect of ongoing risk Management (“ORM”) practices
  • Accurately prepare and respond to credit portfolio position requests from other departments in the bank, including
  • Compliance, Risk, Finance, Operations, and Internal Audit.

All other ad-hoc Credit information requests from shareholders/other stakeholders and regulators:

  • Provide support to the Credit team (and in some instances generate) in terms of all credit portfolio reporting to the Board and Executive Committee
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders to ensure that credit file contents are up to date as per CBN guidelines

Credit Control and Loan Disbursement:

  • Participate in Deal Conclusion Forums and the New Product Approval process
  • Review Credit Facility agreements to ensure that all conditions precedent to drawdown are in place before disbursement
  • Collateral Management
  • Thorough monitoring of conditions and covenant breaches
  • Overall monitoring and control of credit documentation and processes credit post-analyses.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Candidates should possess an Undergraduate Degree in a relevant discipline
  • Minimum of seven years of relevant working experience within a Nigerian bank or financial institution
  • Prior experience in credit (preferably regulatory reporting / Credit Admin and operations) will be an added advantage
  • Good understanding of the Nigerian Banking Industry and its regulatory requirements.

2.) Corporate Credit Analyst

Responsibilities
The successful candidate will:

  • Assess financial transactions, which include(s) an assessment of products (i.e. derivatives) and structures used.
  • Assess counterparty credit risk, which includes the following:
  • Assessment or understanding of the operating environment (i.e. country, industry, regulatory and legal risk) and how it impacts the risk profile of the counterparty.
  • Spreading and modelling of financial statements.
  • Analysing and interpreting financial statements.
  • Quantitative and qualitative assessment to identify and quantify the financial and business risks of the counterparty.
  • Assign credit ratings to counterparties by using internally approved rating methodologies and models.
  • Write credit reports and prepare credit applications and financial models to be presented to the relevant committees.
  • Present credit applications and reports to various credit committees and forums.
  • Monitor financial covenants and financial risks for credit reporting.
  • Ongoing evaluation and monitoring of counterparties and facilities.
  • Ongoing monitoring and management of portfolio, which include making recommendations and/or providing input to further develop the bank’s lending policy..
  • Liaise with various business units, divisions and subsidiaries within the FirstRand Banking Group.

Qualifications and Experience

  • A tertiary education with a financial background, with a minimum Second-Class Upper division or equivalent.
  • At least five years of credit analysis experience, preferably within a large financial institution or five year’s experience in financial markets in a consulting/auditing capacity.
  • Modelling, assessing or advising on financial and business risks should form part of this experience.
  • A sound understanding of Treasury and Financial Markets products (i.e., derivatives) is required.

Technical Skills and General Competencies:

  • General knowledge of practical economics relating to business, industry and the Nigerian macroeconomic environment.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the Companies Act, Commercial Law, legal issues relating to security, exchange control and other relevant legislation or regulatory requirements, including IFRS, Basle II and III.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the taxation of companies, financial institutions and shareholders.
  • Good understanding of financial instruments products (i.e., derivatives) and markets.
  • A good understanding of credit ratings, portfolio theory and credit pricing.

3.) Senior Corporate Credit Analyst

Job Description

  • The essence of this role is to strengthen the credit department and its processes and enhance corporate velocity.
  • The Senior Credit Analyst will be responsible for a portfolio of Corporate Clients and Trade/Commodity Finance exposures, typically across all major industries of focus for RMB Nigeria.
  • He/she will assist the HOC in the day-to-day running of the department and execution of the RMB credit philosophy, as well as take on the responsibility for the development of other Credit Analysts in the team.

Responsibilities
The successful candidate will have the following responsibilities:

  • A good understanding of RMB’s credit philosophy and processes
  • A strong understanding of the Bank’s credit risk appetite, credit grading, and credit pricing models
  • A good understanding of the respective businesses of counterparties operating in the various industries of interest to RMB Nigeria
  • Identify transaction-specific risks, including structure, credit, taxation, accounting, currency, and legal
  • Introduce risk-mitigating measures as input to structure transactions in line with the risk philosophy of FirstRand Bank
  • Keeping up to date with news and events that might affect the Bank, various industries, as well as individual counterparties and portfolios of focus for RMB Nigeria
  • Keeping up to date with trends in the lending environment, particularly as they relate to corporate lending
  • A general understanding of trends in the global lending market to provide input into the bank-wide lending policy development process
  • Assisting with credit portfolio management and monitoring, including day-to-day administration, portfolio reporting (monthly & quarterly), and implementing collection strategies as may be required
  • Review and provide input in terms of the credit reports of other Analysts before the final submission to Credit Committees
  • Assist HOC with the generation and presentation of Board and Executive Management reports

Qualifications and Experience
The ideal candidate must have:

  • An Undergraduate Degree in a relevant discipline
  • At least 10 years of relevant working experience within a core credit (lending or consulting) environment
  • Prior experience in Credit (preferably as a Financial/Credit Analyst or within a Credit Rating Agency) will be an added advantage
  • A relevant professional qualification (ICAN, ACCA, CFA, etc) or a graduate degree will be an added advantage.

  • The Head of Custody Services remains accountable and responsible for developing and implementing the organization’s strategy and end-state vision for the Custody team.

Key Roles and Responsibilities
Strategy and Financial Management:

  • Formulate a strategy for the Custody team and ensure successful implementation thereof
  • Ownership and accountability for driving the strategic plans and ensuring successful implementation thereof, with the right levels of priorities assigned to strategic tasks
  • Management of the entire suite of Global Securities Solutions (GSS), including direct custody, global custody, futures clearing solutions, funds services, prime finance, and fiduciary services
  • Insightful analysis of industry developments, market changes and competitor offerings to identify threats and opportunities, assess potential impact on clients and offer appropriate and innovative product solutions
  • Continuous review of existing products; ensures maintenance of up-to-date product documentation and high-quality collateral
