1.) Assistant CLO Coordinator

Job Title: Assistant CLO Coordinator

Job Summary

  • The U.S. Embassy in Abuja is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the Assistant CLO Coordinator position in the Community Liaison Office.

Duties

  • The Assistant Community Liaison Office Coordinator (Assistant CLO, A/CLO) supports the CLO Coordinator in fulfilling all Eight Areas of CLO Responsibility (family member employment; crisis management and security; education; communications and outreach; guidance and referral; welcoming, orientation, and departures; community liaison; and events planning), and in developing and managing post programs to enhance community morale.
  • The Assistant CLO works with the CLO Coordinator to identify needs within the diverse post community and responds with effective programming, information and resources, and referrals.
  • The incumbent works under the supervision of the CLO Coordinator and is expected to interact independently with CLO clients to develop CLO materials and programs, to formulate advocacy plans, and to generate ideas for community events. In the absence of a CLO Coordinator, the Assistant CLO will serve as back-up to fulfill all responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Completion of at least two (2) years of college or university studies is required.
  • Experience: A minimum of three (3) years of professional experience, including but not limited to administration, office management, customer service, program management, or public policy is required.

Language:

  • Good working knowledge; of speaking, reading & writing of English is required.

Job Knowledge:

  • A good understanding of the Foreign Service community and the structure of the federal government is required.
  • Knowledge of general principles of program management and program monitoring is required. Standard knowledge of Microsoft Office is required.
  • Knowledge of the Department of State's programs and policies pertaining to the CLO Coordinator's Eight Areas of Responsibility (community liaison, crisis management, employment, education, guidance and referral, communications and outreach, welcoming/orientation/departures, and events planning) is required.

2.) Architect

Job Title: Architect

  • We are seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the Architect position in the Facility Management Section.

Duties

  • Under the supervision of the Deputy Facility Manager, the Architect is the technical lead for the Facility Management (FM) section.
  • Working with a team of skilled tradespersons, they are responsible for maintaining the Embassy building systems, including component assemblies and finishes, both interior and exterior.
  • Oversees the design and project management of sustainment, modernization, repairs, building improvements, alterations, extensions, or restoration projects; reviews Statements of Work (SOW) and building documents to ensure designs are code-compliant, functional and within budgetary restraints; acts as Contract Officer’s Representative (COR), Government Technical Monitor (GTM) or the equivalent on post facility contracts; implements all safety regulations on post facilities and residential properties.

Requirements
Education:

  • A Bachelor of Science Degree or equivalent, in Architecture or Architectural Engineering or a similar architecture degree is required.
  • The degree curriculum must: (1) be in a school of architecture with at least one curriculum accredited or equivalent by the National Architecture Accreditation Board (NAAB) or Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET), or equivalent host-country architecture or Engineering Board, as a professional architecture curriculum.

Experience:

  • Must have a minimum of five (5) years experience working as a project architect at a major resort, hospital, office complex, large university/school system, or similar building complex managing a preventative maintenance program that uses a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to track maintenance requests and their expenses is required. One year of Supervisory experience is required.
  • The job holder must demonstrate a progression of increased responsibility including developing scopes of work, construction documents (plans and specifications) and cost estimates for new construction projects, building repairs, equipment overhauls, and equipment replacement schedules.

Job Knowledge:

  • Must know principles of developing planning specific objectives, milestones, and phases for simple to complex projects, and make needed innovations and modifications.
  • Must have the ability to guide and evaluate Architectural/Engineering (A/E) contractor and construction efforts and assess technical and project progress in relation to the established schedule and resources allotted.
  • Must have knowledge of various types of local construction contractors and supply stores that can provide materials and/or service support. Must have detailed technical knowledge to lead a multi-disciplinary team performing Facility Condition Assessment inspections.
  • Must have knowledge in design and construction practices with U.S. building codes and specifications; thorough professional knowledge in architectural design calculations and criteria; preparation of construction drawings and specifications.
  • Must be able to prepare Statements of Work (SOW), and cost estimates, and draft and design computer-aided designs in AutoCAD.

Salary

3.) Economic Specialist

  • The incumbent is the Senior Locally Employed Staff of the Economic Affairs Section.
  • The position conducts economic analysis, builds and maintains contacts with economic leaders in the public and private sectors, writes analytical cables, prepares economic reports, supports USG visitors, sets up meetings for Executive and Economic Section staff and coordinates the activities of the economic LE Staff.

Requirements
Education:

  • A Master’s Degree in Economics, Business or a related field is required.

Experience:

  • A minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience, including private and/or public sector economic analysis is required

Job Knowledge:

  • Thorough knowledge of Nigeria’s political and economic structure, both formal and informal is required. Advanced knowledge and use of economic concepts and methods, particularly macroeconomics is required. Must be familiar with both the USG and GoN structure and methods of good governance.
  • Must be knowledgeable on regional (ECOWAS) issues as well including macroeconomic and budgetary issues, banking, finance, investment climate, and anti-money laundering/counter-terrorism financing and some agriculture, energy, industry, and infrastructure.

Duties

  • The CDC Nigeria Senior Information Management Specialist is the information technology (IT) Team Lead and has responsibility for day-to-day IT service management at the CDC Office in Nigeria. In this capacity, the incumbent manages and coordinates all information and communications technology (ICT) related matters including cloud systems, data storage, wireless communications, mobile technology, telephony, video conferencing, IT security, and computer hardware and software, ensuring that all ICT systems and services necessary for the country program office are always operational.
  • Job holder reviews core infrastructure performance optimally efficiently, ensures effective support services by service contractors and assists in the formulation of IT operating budgets. This position provides instructional training to all CDC Nigeria staff on the proper use and security of IT equipment and advanced instruction to CDC and external partner staff on office productivity software and public health software programs.
  • Incumbent serves as the liaison between CDC Nigeria and counterparts from the CDC HQ IT Services Organization. This position reports to the USDH Associate Director for Partner Management & IT, supervises two IT Assistants and provides IT support and customer service for over 100 CDC Nigeria employees.

Requirements
Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems Management, Information Technology, or host country equivalent is required.

Experience:

  • The job holder must possess a minimum of five (5) years experience in a mid to senior role with Windows operating systems and platforms, with installation, management and optimal usage and configuration of hardware and software and with managing and maintaining a LAN is required.
  • Of these 5 years, the incumbent must have at least 2 years' experience with Cisco network switches and routers.
