1.) Funded Traineeships for Young Graduates

Title: Funded Traineeships for Young Graduates

Location: Nigeria
Employment Type: Internship
Duration: 6 Months

Description

  • Are you a young graduate interested in international relations? Are you curious to learn more about work of a diplomatic mission and how the EU Delegation represents EU interests and values in Nigeria?

We offer:

  • A traineeship of 6 months within the Green and Digital Economy Section of the EU Delegation in Nigeria, starting by end of May the latest.
  • The Green and Digital Economy Section of the EU Delegation is in charge of managing projects and programmes spanning the sectors of: agriculture, climate, renewable energy and energy efficiency, circular economy, innovation and digitalisation, youth employment, MSMEs and investment.

Main tasks

  • Conduct research and analysis on key sustainable economic development issues in Nigeria
  • Review trends, as well as programmes and activities undertaken by other development partners
  • Contribute to the programming, identification and appraisal of programmes and projects in close cooperation with the beneficiary institutions
  • Draft reports on events and meetings
  • Contribute in the follow-up of the implementation of projects
  • Media monitoring of developments of relevance in Nigeria, in the public and private sector.

Qualifications or Special Requirements

  • Citizens of Nigeria
  • Young graduates with at least a Bachelor Diploma (or equivalent)
  • Maximum one year of professional experience
  • No previous experience of more than six weeks in the EU Institutions.

2.) IT Assistant - Administration

Job Title: IT Assistant - Administration

Location: Abuja

We Offer

  • The post of IT Assistant (Local Agent Group 2) in the Delegation’s Administration Section. The team consists of 21 people and there are occasional atypical working hours.
  • Under this post, the recruited person will be attributed functions depending on the needs of the Delegation, and on the changes of these needs.
  • The successful candidate will serve under the supervision and responsibility of the Head of Administration Section, providing IT support and technical assistance to the staff of the Delegation as well as perform other IT administrative tasks.
  • The initial duration of the post is 1 year with the possibility of extension.
  • Following main tasks and duties are currently required:

Technical Assistance:

  • Collect and analyse data relating to the efficiency and security of the IT system and prepare reports and recommendations on this issue;
  • Install laptops, printers, scanners and network devices according to the reference configuration and perform the troubleshooting of problems related to these equipment;
  • Contribute to the implementation and maintenance of the IT system (e.g. organisation of the users’ workstations, management of shared resources, backups, check-ups, management of users’ domains, installation and upgrading of hardware and software, etc.);
  • Supervise and control the update of patches, anti-virus and tools on all laptops
  • Follow-up the hardware problems with IT material delivered from Headquarters (laptops, servers and videoconference material) – opening – follow-up and closure of incidents with the helpdesk delegations;
  • Establish and maintain contact with IT equipment suppliers;
  • Perform the disk wiping for all declassified laptops and manage the local PABX and telephones;
  • Perform the patching of the computer and the telephone network;
  • Provide IT support to users, carry out troubleshooting, and perform necessary repairs and replacements of the equipment;
  • Contribute to the optimization of the IT system;
  • Identify the cause of problems, organise and implement the anti-virus strategy of the Delegation;
  • Assist the Press & Information Section in the maintenance of the Delegation’s website;
  • Monitor the power infrastructure and advise about power supply solutions and provide technical advice concerning management of the Internet and Intranet Website of the Delegation;
  • Assist with inventory and stock staking exercises yearly;
  • Ensure the IT environment is safe by ensuring best IT practices always;
  • Assist the Regional IT Officers with information regarding the IT environment;
  • Assist the Head of Administration with the inventory of the IT equipment, the draft of the technical requirements and for the technical evaluation of Call for tender for purchase of printers, backup tapes, new cabling infrastructure based on specifications received by Central Helpdesk;
  • Assist the Head of Admin regarding procurement and tenders of all IT related services;

End-User Support:

  • Assist the end-users for office automation tools (Word, Excel, Outlook etc) ;
  • Prepare and setup the user environment when staff comes/goes from Delegation;
  • Organize the training or coaching of end-users on IT matter;
  • Manage the stock of laptops for staff members;
  • Communicate user incidents to the RITO or to the central helpdesk of Delegations for all IT related issues (E-mail problems, access rights, problems with central applications, network connectivity problems, restoration of deleted files), ensure follow-up and implement solutions;
  • Assist the end-users for the installation of presentation equipment (projectors, beamers) and videoconference;
  • Advise and assist users on making their IT environment safe by paying attention to hacking and phishing attacks;
  • Provide 1st-Level support but escalate appropriately when issues cannot be solved locally;
  • When required, undertake IT administrative related tasks as may be assigned by the Head of Administration in view of the efficient functioning of the Delegation.

Minimum Requirements / Eligibility Criteria

  • A Bachelor Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information
  • At least five years of work experience in a similar position, providing IT support, technical assistance and other IT administrative tasks such as ICT helpdesk services, ICT system administration, programming, Network Engineering etc.;
  • Assets / selection criteria.
  • Technology, Information Security or Higher National Diploma in the field of IT;
  • Professional experience in handling IT related issues :
  • Medically fit to perform the required duties;
  • Enjoys civil rights and permits for employment under the Nigerian labour law;
  • Excellent knowledge of English, fluency in spoken and written (C2 Level);

The following will be considered an asset:

  • Knowledge of French language at working level;
  • Master Degree and/or further certification in IT;
  • Experience in working with IT Applications such as: SOLARWING, SNOW, EPFAM Server Administration;
  • Previous experience in a diplomatic mission or other regional organisations.
