1.) Deputy Medical Coordinator

Job Title: Deputy Medical Coordinator

Location: Maiduguri, Borno

General Objectives

  • Under the supervision of the Medical Coordinator, the Deputy Medical Coordinator will support the Medical Coordinator in the implementation of the overall medical content, activity and resources in the mission, by assuming tasks delegated by him/her and giving personal assistance in other specific activities, in order to facilitate the proper medical management of the projects and medical follow-up of the staff in the mission.

Responsibilities and Tasks
Quality Assurance of Medical Project Activities:

  • Improve the quality of health care service provision across the whole of the mission
  • Participate actively in the supervision of health activities through checklists, observations, and reports to the medical Coordinator
  • Develop and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) in coordination with the Health Coordinator and Project Managers for quality assured health service provision.
  • Ensure that the team is following up proper medical protocols, and applying them according to international and national standards and guidelines
  • In collaboration with the Medical Coordinator, ensure tools and practices across the whole of the mission are harmonised and capitalised in relation to PUI tools and help to update them in conjunction with the Medical Coordinator
  • Ensure appropriate health service provision, usage of medications, medical consumables or equipment according to the implemented Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Develop and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) in order to ensure an appropriate health service provision, usage of medications, medical consumables or equipment across the whole mission
  • Ensure the rational use of medicines and the proper administration of treatments in line with national and international protocols.
  • In coordination with the Medical Coordinator, Pharmacy Manager and Project Managers, logistically ensure that medical requests are in line with the procurement framework and internal procurement guidelines.
  • Draw up Job descriptions as needed for health and nutrition staff, in collaboration with the Medical Coordinator.
  • Organize meetings regularly with Health Prom Managers and their deputies.

Representation of PUI with Internal and External Stakeholders:

  • Represent the association with local actors involved in the implementation of medical programs, and ensure that good relations are maintained with each of them.
  • Participate in meetings and reports on highlights to the Medical Coordinator, when necessary
  • Participate actively in the preparation and the smooth organization of donor visits
  • Collaborate with other departments (MHPSS, Nutrition, Protection, and Food Security) as needed to ensure smooth implementation and integration of services.

Ensure the Safety of Property and People:

  • Ensure that the safety plan is known by the teams under his/her responsibility, and that safety rules are respected.
  • Ensure that project/s, methodologies, or selection criteria do not place beneficiaries, PUI staff or any other persons at risk in any way.
  • Alert the Head of Mission without delay, in case of impending danger to teams or beneficiaries

Capacity Building and Technical Support Ensure the Safety of Property and People:

  • Under the supervision of the Medical Coordinator, support the Health and Nutrition Project Managers to develop and implement a training plan based on training needs assessment and project objectives.
  • Attend and support Health and Nutrition Project Managers in training given by PU in the field.

Development of the Health Strategy and New Proposals:

  • Participates in identifying health-related needs in coordination with the Medical Coordinator (and Health Program Managers)
  • Support Technically the Health/Nutrition Project and Deputy Project Managers in the preparation of project proposals for the Health and Nutrition Sectors
  • Contribute to the development of the mission’s operational health strategy in line with PUI health policy and the country’s national health policy
  • In collaboration with the Medical Coordinator, organize annual reflection and strategic development workshops with the mission’s health staff as necessary.

Archiving and reporting:

  • Ensure proper archiving of all the documents, tools and training materials.
  • Support for the reporting of health activities and the consumption of medical supplies.
  • Ensures that epidemiological data are recorded, analyzed and shared by the health team in coordination with the Medical Coordinator, Health Program Managers, among others.

4.) Sexual and Reproductive Health Supervisor

Job Title: Sexual and Reproductive Health Supervisor

Location: Katsina

General Objective

  • The Sexual Reproductive Health (SRH) Supervisor, under the direct supervision of the Deputy Project Manager (DPM) for Primary Health Care (PHC), oversees and ensures the effective implementation of Maternal and Child Health (MCH) and SRH services, including Antenatal Care (ANC), Postnatal Care (PNC), Basic Emergency Obstetric and Neonatal Care (BEmONC), family planning, and deliveries.
  • S/he is responsible for the continuous monitoring, supervision, and coordination of midwifery care, ensuring compliance with PUI, national, and international SRH protocols and guidelines while maintaining universal hygiene standards.
  • The role guarantees 24/7 efficient and high-quality reproductive health service delivery, optimizing patient care through collaboration with the Health and Nutrition DPM, Project Manager (PM), and the Ministry of Health (MOH).
  • Additionally, the SRH Supervisor plays a critical role in emergency obstetric response, sexual violence case management, drug and equipment regulation, staff training, and performance evaluation, ensuring effective team coordination and adherence to standardized clinical procedures within PUI-supported healthcare programs.

Responsibilities and Tasks 
SRH (Sexual and Reproductive Health) Activities Implementation:

  • Plan, organize, and ensure the implementation of SRH activities, including ANC, PNC, family planning, deliveries, vaccinations, and laboratory services.
  • Provide technical support to SRH staff in diagnosis and case management, assisting with emergency referrals when necessary.
  • Ensure proper consultation room setup, including availability of essential equipment and consumables.
  • Conduct routine quality evaluations of midwives and midwife assistants to maintain high standards of care.
  • Monitor protocol adherence, infection prevention, and the rational use of medicines in accordance with national and international guidelines.
  • Ensure the comprehensive monitoring of newborns, referring all pregnant women and newborns to the Expanded Programme on Immunization (EPI).

5.) Gender-Based Violence Case Worker - x2

Job Title: Gender-Based Violence Case Worker

Job Summary

  • Under the direct supervision of the Protection Supervisor, the GBV Case Worker is responsible for planning, implementing and providing quality case management to GBV survivors.
  • The position holder will work with a team of GBV volunteers together with community structures and the health sector in compliance with work plans, donor regulations and PUI policies.
  • The position holder will play a key role in providing direct survivor-centred case management services to Gender Based Violence survivors and individuals at risk of GBV.

Responsibilities and Tasks
Activities and implementation:

  • Provide direct and day-to-day survivor-centred case management services to Gender Based Violence survivors and individuals at risk of GBV.
  • Assess survivors’ needs, develop an action plan, implement the plan, follow up and close the case in line with the GBV case management standard operating procedures and guidelines on case management.
  • Document cases using the Intake and Assessment form.
  • Follow up with survivors and other partners to ensure plans are implemented.

  • Under the direct supervision of the Protection supervisor, the Protection Officer will be responsible for integrating protection principles into all sectors of PUI’s programming.
  • This role ensures that interventions are designed and implemented in a way that upholds dignity, safety, and rights of the affected populations while minimizing risks of harm and maximizing the engagement of vulnerable groups, including persons with disability.
  • S/he will be responsible for developing, implementing and monitoring protection and community outreach activities, in compliance with work plans, donor regulations and PUI policies.
  • S/he will play a key role in increasing community knowledge and access to services while strengthening PUI knowledge of and acceptance within the community.

Responsibilities and Tasks
Activities implementation:

  • Conduct capacity-building and training to COWs on thematic of protection (including CP, GBV, protection mainstreaming, confidentiality of protection data)

General Objective

  • Under the direct supervision of the Protection supervisor, the Protection Officer will be responsible for integrating protection principles into all sectors of PUI’s programming.

Job Summary

  • Under the direct supervision of the Protection Supervisor, the GBV Case Worker is responsible for planning, implementing and providing quality case management to GBV survivors.
  • The position holder will work with a team of GBV volunteers together with community structures and the health sector in compliance with work plans, donor regulations and PUI policies.
  • The position holder will play a key role in providing direct survivor-centred case management services to Gender Based Violence survivors and individuals at risk of GBV.

Responsiblities
Activities Implementation:

  • Provide direct and day-to-day survivor-centred case management services to Gender Based Violence survivors and individuals at risk of GBV.
  • Assess survivors’ needs, develop an action plan, implement the plan, follow up and close the case in line with the GBV case management standard operating procedures and guidelines on case management.
  • Document cases using the Intake and Assessment form.
  • Follow up with survivors and other partners to ensure plans are implemented.
  • Ensure case management steps are followed, referrals and documentation are happening in an appropriate and timely manner.
  • Attend GBV meetings as may be required.
  • Regularly update documentation and maintain Database for all documented cases, plan of action and follow-up visits using the GBVIMS.
