1.) Administrative Assistant

 

Project Brief

• Governance for Inclusive Development (GovID) operating at the national and sub-national seeks to contribute to the development of governance by improving transparency, internal accountability, participation, and delivery of public services




Scope of the Role

• As an administrative assistant you will be providing day to day administrative needs of the office.

Tasks

• Assists in ensuring all relevant information is cascaded among all staff, partners, and other institutions.
• Assists in organising administrative and logistical aspects of events such as meetings and workshops according to GIZ’s rules and regulations
• Accompanies administrative officer and/or manager to meetings where required.
• Assists with monitoring of the availability of accessories and stocks.
• Helps with procuring items in accordance with GIZ requirements.
• Assists with filing documents in reference files or in DMS in line with GIZ’s filing rules.
• Assists with management of incoming and outgoing correspondence (post, fax, email), prioritising and organising them.
• Creates and maintains an address file with important contact details.
• Reports damages/defects in office furnishings and equipment to his/her superior and support with follows up on maintenance and repair.
• Performs other duties and tasks at the request of management

Qualification Required & Experience

• Certificate/Diploma or comparable qualification from a commercial academy
• A minimum of 1-2 years’ professional experience in a comparable position
• Excellent working knowledge of ICT technologies (related software, phone, fax, email, the internet) and computer applications (e.g., MS Office)
• Highly organized and able to multitask.
• Excellent knowledge of the English language with knowledge of German as an added advantage
• Good management and organisational skills and customer and service-oriented attitude
• Excellent analytical, critical, and creative thinking, oral and written communication skills
• The ability to develop and carry out work plans and solve problems independently with a creative and pragmatic approach.
• Willingness to upskill as required by the tasks to be performed – corresponding measures are agreed with management.

2.) Finance Specialist

 

Project Brief

The project is supporting the Ministry of Energy in Ghana in improving the financial sustainability of the energy sector and the framework conditions for promoting investments in renewable energies and energy efficiency and aims at strengthening the Ghanaian climate goals and sustainable and inclusive economic development.

Scope of the Role

As a Finance Specialist for Accounting Compliance, you will strengthen the internal control procedures of the program and take on a mentoring role for Finance Officers by advising on implementing compliant business procedures and documentation as well as ensuring that financial administration functions are executed well in accordance with GIZ standard procedures and regulatory frameworks.

Tasks

• You will ensure full compliance of our processes to internal control/ auditing rules. With your follow up, records are always ready to be audited ad-hoc.
• You will support and coach other Finance Specialists in all accounting procedures, give trainings and knowledge-sharing, do work shadowing, give regular feedbacks in accounting procedures and check documentation in a 4-eye principle.
• You will closely follow up on proper execution of financial procedures (timely recording of expenditures, proper documentation, correct execution of monthly closing procedure etc.)
• You will support the Senior Finance Manager in providing annual Internal Control (IC) management by not focusing on mistakes but to provide broader compliance-oriented advice in light of GIZ Processes and Regulations (P+R).
• You will be an active part of the procurement opening committee, oversee the procurement mailbox and conduct a regular risk assessment of the program and general SustainE4Climate processes and propose mitigation measures to management.

Qualification Required & Experience

• Master’s degree in accounting or Commerce or related field from a recognized college.
• At least 5 years of experience as a finance officer or related field in Government or NGO or international organization.
• Very high proficiency in financial documentation procedures, preferably experience in accounting systems of public institutions in Ghana.
• Familiarity with contracting rules in the public sector, especially with GIZ rules and regulations.
• Very high proficiency with Microsoft Excel and IT affine personality.
• Proactive interest in improving quality of work; Excellent communication skills, both written and oral in English.
• Strong interpersonal and service skills; Strong organization and time management skills; Ability to perform efficiently in a multicultural
work environment; Ability to work under time pressure; Self-driven motivation to create knowledge and innovations.

3.) Regional Advisor AfCFTA

 

Project Brief

• With funding from EU, Germany, Sweden and France, GIZ together with Expertise France and FIAPP supports the AfCFTA negotiation process through technical support to the relevant AU organs. The project in support of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) works in close collaboration with the AfCFTA Secretariat of the African Union (AU).

Scope of the Role

• The trade advisor will be part of the new setup of the technical advisory component of the project towards the AfCFTA Secretariat.
• The advisor will support the content of free trade negotiations in the areas of trade in goods and services, trade facilitation, customs cooperation as well as phase II negotiations for protocols on IPR, Investment, Competition, Digital Trade and Women and Youth in Trade).

Tasks

• Support the establishment of the new AfCFTA Secretariat through strategic capacity development activities
• Close collaboration with AfCFTA Secretariat, the GIZ AfCFTA Support Programme (which the advisor is also part of) as well as with RECs
• Support bilateral partners in fostering their role in implementing the AfCFTA through technical advisory services on the member state level
• Manage short-term experts to undertake subject-specific research into areas of concern to Member State representatives participating in technical meetings throughout the key project component topics of trade in services, goods as well as the investment protocol.
• Technical advice and project coordination on various aspects of trade integration, including trade in goods, trade in services, trade facilitation, and stakeholder involvement and possibly also industrialization, value chain and other emerging topics
• Participate in the AfCFTA Team meetings and bilateral exchanges with AfCFTA advisors throughout the various project components and locations
• Work with other GIZ projects and be familiar with GIZ internal procurement processes

Qualification Required & Experience

• Master’s degree in Economics, Law, or equivalent
• Citizenship of one of the AU Member States
• Fluent in written and spoken English. Fluency in other AU official language is an added advantage.
• Demonstrated experience of at least 4-6 years in trade policy
• Solid understanding of regional and continental economic integration issues in Africa
• Experience in development cooperation is an asset
• Experience in working with AU or other regional organisations is an asset
• Flexibility to frequently travel

4.) Junior Advisor(GovID)

 

Project Brief

• The “Governance for Inclusive Development” (GovID) programme supports the implementation at both the local and the national level.
• To achieve this, the programme implements measures in five areas of intervention and amongst them is the strengthening of accountability mechanisms for budgetary implementation.
• Under this is the Accountability Component which focuses on internal audit processes and accountability at both national and subnational level.

Scope of the Role

• The role of the Junior Accountability Advisor will be to support the work of the Accountability Component.
• This will entail supporting institutions like Internal Audit Agency, Ghana Audit Service, Civil Society, resource governance and local authorities to enhance accountability at both the National and local level.

Tasks

• Assist with the development of concepts, and monitors the implementation of project/ programme plans and activities in close consultation with advisors, management, and partners
• Participate in formulating project actions plans and helps synchronize the planning with counterparts
Support Technical Advisors to prepare, implement and document
training events, workshops, forums, team meetings and other project
activities
• Develop and maintain contact with relevant stakeholders
• Collects, processes, and distributes relevant information
• Participate in meetings, seminars, and workshops etc.
• Performs other duties and tasks at the request of management

Qualification Required & Experience

• Masters/MSc Degree in Social Sciences, Social Work, Public
• Administration, Development Studies, or related fields.
• At least basic knowledge and a strong interest in the topics of
• Accountability, Transparency, Anti-Corruption or Public Financial Management.
• Strong interpersonal skills with ability to work in a multicultural environment.
• At least three (3) years professional experience
• Working experience with GIZ, similar development organizations and local government actors
• Ability to perform a variety of specialized tasks related to design, planning and implementation of programme, managing data, reporting;
• Motivated team player with an organized, independent, systematic, proactive, detail- and goal-oriented work approach. Ability to quickly
grasp complex issues
• Ability to express yourself well both verbally and in writing;
• Excellent knowledge of the English language; German being an advantage
