1.) Engineering Supervisor (Automation)

Job Title: Engineering Supervisor (Automation)

Location: Agbara Factory, Ogun
Position type: Full-Time

Position Summary

  • Nestlé Nigeria is currently looking for an Engineering Supervisor (Automation), who will be responsible for the Supervision of the line maintenance technicians assigned to production maintenance, to ensure that proper engineering support is provided on day-to-day production operation of the factory.
  • S/he shall exercise supervision according to Nestle policies, guidelines, rules and regulations.

Responsibilities
A day in the life of the Engineering Supervisor:

  • Ensure that there exists within the process maintenance team an attitude of absolute intolerance for unsafe situations.
  • That all team members are encouraged never to implement ant change, whether directly instructed to, or under his/her own initiative, without first questioning its impact in relation to product safety/quality, people safety and the environment. No compromises should be tolerated.
  • Ensure that Good Engineering Practices are being applied at all times.
  • Ensure the implementation of all repairs/modifications resulting from gap assessments, plant audits and notifications.
  • Ensure that all technicians receive direct on the line coaching in machinery and line operation skills in respect to the requirements of Hygiene engineering.
  • Encourage close teamwork between all functions (Engineering, Production, Quality Management etc.) with effective information dissemination and documentation.
  • Review systematically all lines, processes and utilities that are critical to the business and those where failure can have an unacceptable impact on safety, environment, or compliance with the law.
  • Plan & manage the execution of routine maintenance with first time quality.
  • Ensure that continuous improvement becomes a key pillar of the M&I culture.
  • Implement consequence driven maintenance (CDM) as the multi-discipline, team-based approach to proactively maintain/improve the Asset Intensity and performance of the company's Asset and Maintenance Management (AMM) as the process to manage the lifecycle of the fixed assets.
  • Establish and manage the yearly, monthly, weekly maintenance plans to ensure essential maintenance is completed within a reasonable time in either day or shift basis.
  • Monitor plant/equipment to ensure optimal operation and reduction of planned/unplanned downtime on day or shift duty.
  • Optimize predictive maintenance technologies (condition monitoring and inspections) to minimize unplanned downtime on day or shift duty.
  • Utilize planned downtime for scheduled and condition-based maintenance with work orders with OEM, on day or shift duty.
  • Develop and implement improvements to minimize downtime for line change and cleaning, on day or shift duty.
  • Liaise with production, quality management daily to resolve technical and/or operational issues (Stoppage analysis from downtime reporting system), on day or shift duty.
  • Establish with production, shutdown and start-up work programs to minimize the risks to the product, people and production losses, on day or shift duty.
  • Supervise and coordinate Beverages/Confectioneries maintenance tasks by technicians and third parties, on day or shift duty with first time quality.
  • Carry out Continuous Improvement (CI) with LEAN prospects in Beverages & Confectioneries Electrical with the aim of achieving optimized plant performance, on day or shift duty.
  • Coordinate all Maintenance and Improvement checklist of all Electrical equipment, on day or shift duty.
  • Provide support for Beverages/Confectioneries Projects as it involves the various sections, on day or shift duty.
  • Ensure viable spare part management for all machines under coverage.

What Will Make You Successful?

  • B.Sc. or HND in Electrical/Electronics, Instrumentation/Automation Engineering.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in automation using programming languages such as: SIEMENS and ALLEN BRADLEY PLCs.
  • Minimum of 3 years post qualification experience in maintenance of process machines and equipment.
  • Must be a Team Player, Result Oriented, Adaptable/Flexible and always willing to help.
  • Must have a good Communicator, be agile, and able to work under pressure.
  • Ability to work in a complex and dynamic operations environment.

2.) Factory Sensory Specialist

Job Title: Factory Sensory Specialist

Location: Agbara, Ogun
Employment Type: Full-time

Position Summary

  • We are currently looking to hire a Factory Sensory Specialist, whose responsibilities include to manage sensory activities, staff and facilities in the factory ensuring appropriate sensory implementation in all aspects of quality management.

Implements the sensory programme for the factory:

  • Ensures that sensory evaluation for raw materials, semi-finished products and finished products in the for the factory i.e. at the sensory laboratory and inline laboratory are in alignment with the current standards or guidelines.
  • Ensure that all relevant and current product and packaging specifications for raw materials, semi-finished products and finished products are available during tasting sessions.
  • Provide a monthly report on sensory activities at the inline laboratories across the factory and share the report with QA Manager.
  • Conduct quarterly keeping quality tests for all products category and communicate the report to the QA CWAR office and other relevant parties such as AG and Packaging department when necessary.
  • Manages both consumer and trade complaints for all factory product category from reception of complaint, through investigation to providing feedback to CES.
  • Communicate the trend of complaint.
  • Organize monthly alignment meeting with CES team on total number of complaints registered.

Ensure panelists performance are monitored:

  • Frequently carrying out spike test.
  • Prepare and share the report of panelist performance to the panelists.
  • Keep the panelist motivated.

Organizes the recruitment and maintenance of the factory sensory panel(s):

  • Screening of new panelists.
  • Training of new panelist based on product category and product specifications.
  • Training of existing panelist on newly introduced products.

Provide support for other functions such as Application Group and Packaging:

  • Organize triangle and profiling test and share the report in decision making.
  • Organize test for packaging trial and provide the report to support in decision making.
  • Manage market scenario samples and share the report.

What Will Make You Successful?

  • HND / B.Sc. in Biochemistry, Microbiology, Chemistry or Food Science or related Science courses.
  • Basic scientific and statistical knowledge
  • Demonstrated competence in a similar field.
  • Working knowledge of sensory methodologies (i.e. different testing and test for QA)
  • Working knowledge of computers; ideally, knowledge of dedicated software for sensory data acquisition.
  • Minimum Relevant Work Experience: 5 years relevant experience in the field.

  • Proven track record in continuous improvement and innovation.
  • Ability to engage with stakeholders and communicate effectively.
  • Proficiency in SAP for stock management and maintenance applications.
  • Solid experience in making and interpreting mechanical and electrical drawings, using AutoCAD or related software.
  • Good Automation knowledge will be an advantage.
