1.) Regional Advisor (Governance for Inclusive Development)

 

Project Brief

• Governance for Inclusive Development (GovID) operating at the national and sub-national seeks to contribute to the development of governance by improving transparency, internal accountability, participation, and delivery of public services

Scope of the Role

• The Regional Advisor supports the achievement of results and implementation of activities of GovID components in partner MMDAs in Oti Region by providing technical assistance.
• The Regional Advisor is integrated into the Regional Coordinating Council of Oti Region and initiates, implements and coordinates capacity-building measures to ensure achievement of programme objectives.







Tasks

• Implements the activities in districts under his/her region in close collaboration with the Regional Coordinating Council (RCC) Supports partners in organising activities and facilitating trainings in the districts.
• Ensure that the implemented activities are in line with the GIZ quality standards.
• Contributes to the programme’s short and long-term organizational planning and strategy as well as contribute to the programmes Monitoring, reporting and knowledge management.
• Communicating local interests and efforts and encourages sharing ideas and information for the benefit of the programme.
• Ensures knowledge transfer in the programme.
• Develops ready-to-use strategies and technical concepts, including guidelines, manuals and procedures.
• Assists in coordinating and prioritising relevant project activities at technical level (in the regions) in cooperation with the partners, both as regards the organisational preparation and implementation of the activities.

Qualification Required & Experience

• Masters/MSc Degree and technical expertise in Planning, Public Administration, Social Sciences, Development Studies or other relevant
discipline
• At least 5 years professional experience with at least 2 years professional experience in a similar position working on related topics.
• Relevant experience acquired through experience in working with NGOs, development organizations and the public sector
• Knowledge and understanding of local governance, decentralization, and workings of the governance system in Ghana.
• Practical knowledge of ICT technologies (related financial software, data base and data management systems);
• Fluent written and oral mastery of the English language.
• Proven analytical, organizational, problem solving and change management skills;
• Excellent communication skills to establish and maintain effective working relationships within a diverse stakeholder landscape.
• Highly developed client orientation, ability to exercise significant discretion and sensitivity.

2.) Technical Advisor (Sustainable Cocoa Initiative Program)

 

Project Brief

• The program is supporting the EU in implementing the Sustainable Cocoa Initiative. The objective of sustainable cocoa production shall be reached through measures on living income, reduction of child labor, reduction of deforestation, and the support for reaching compliance with the EU
regulations on the respective issues.

Scope of the Role

• The Technical Advisor is responsible for technical inputs and follow-up on all aspects of the Cocoa Supply Chain.
• He will be dedicated to improving all aspects of the cocoa supply chain which strengthen traceability, eliminate child labor and environmental abuses, help all actors to comply with new diligence regulation from EU and German side.
• The advisor will seek for cooperation with state actors, donors, NGOs, and the private sector.

Tasks

• Assist and monitor the development and implementation of programme plans and activities in close consultation with counterparts.
• Contribute to preparing and implementing the coordination process, joint programme activities and work at the regional level.
• Responsible for the design, preparation and implementation of workshops, seminars and other events on issues connected with the programme’s area of activity.
• Support cooperation, regular contact and dialogue with partners, assists with PR work and cooperates with local communities, relevant organizations, private sector, non-governmental agencies and individuals in the programme environment and with other projects to improve and maintain good working relationships.
• Prepare reports and presentation documents, including monitoring & evaluation, success stories and best practice examples.
• Prepare appropriate input for various programme reports including annual reports and contributes to the other reports required by the HoU, the programme manager and GIZ Head Office.
• Coordinate relevant project activities/interventions at local level in consultation with the manager and in cooperation with the partners regarding implementation and organizational aspects.
• Handle other task on behalf of GIZ.






Qualification Required & Experience

• University degree in an area that is related to the project/programme objectives, with a focus on a relevant field (equivalent to BA or MBA)
• At least 3 years’ professional experience in a comparable position
• Professional experience in planning, implementation, monitoring, evaluation and reporting
• Very good working knowledge of ICT technologies (related software, phone, fax, email, the internet) and computer applications (e.g. MS Office)
• Diligent, goal oriented, open minded and innovative, team player and ability to perform task without supervision.
• Proficient in spoken and written English; a working knowledge of German is an asset.
• Strong interpersonal skills, work experience in an intercultural environment is an asset.
• Strong managerial, organisational, and social competence
• Very strong communication skills and ability to engage stakeholders and facilitate networking.

3.) Technical Advisor (Make-IT in Africa)

 

Project Brief

• "Make-IT in Africa" promotes digital innovations in Africa for sustainable and inclusive development. The main focus of the project is to support national and Pan-African entrepreneurial ecosystem to become resilient and sustainable. In close cooperation with business and financing partners, social enterprises, hubs and networks, Make-IT creates an environment for young businesses to gain better access to finance, markets and skills

Scope of the Role

• The Technical Advisor will manage activities with a focus on digital entrepreneurship in Ghana. This includes supporting an enabling policy framework, strengthening intermediaries and quality support for tech startups, and contribute to the overall goal of creating an environment for tech start-ups to gain better access to finance, markets, and skills.

Tasks

• Technical advice in the field of start-up support and digital innovation.
• Development and technical management of measures to promote a strong digital innovation ecosystem in Ghana.
• Development and implementation of strategic and innovative approaches and formats for co-operation with local and international investors.
• Represent Make-IT in the tech ecosystem and bring together likeminded startups who understand the value of collaboration and are able to positively contribute to each other’s development.
• Building, managing, strengthening and expansion of the Make-IT in Africa network in Ghana; collaboration with stakeholders from government, academia and private sector.
• Contribute to the growth and development of entrepreneurial support organizations in the country to increase program delivery and expansion
• Liaise with the Make-IT Teams in HQ, West Africa and East Africa on a regular basis.






Qualification Required & Experience

• Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in entrepreneurship, innovation, communications, economics, political science, social science, business informatics or a similar subject.
• A minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience in the promotion of entrepreneurship and digital innovation ecosystems.
• Strong understanding of policy processes and multistakeholder approaches, ideally with proven work experiences in the field.
• Work experience and knowledge in one or more of the following areas (start-up financing, corporate venturing, founding or working in a technology start-up or company builder or innovation hubs)
• Self-motivated and proven networking skills and an established network of Ghanaian stakeholders in the innovation ecosystem.
• Enjoy working in intercultural teams.
• Knowledge in design thinking and other agile methods, ideally certified.
• Fluent in English; French is a plus.

4.) Intern, DRM

 

Project Brief

• The Domestic Revenue Mobilisation Component supports reforms to strengthen institutional processes and human resource capacities for revenue management at the national level. Other institutions supported are Ministry of Finance and the Ghana Revenue Authority.

Scope of the Role

• The intern will be part of the Domestic Revenue Mobilization (DRM) Component of the Governance for Inclusive Development (GovID) Programme. • The job will entail working with national institutions like the Ministry of Finance and the Ghana Revenue Authority with the objective of supporting these national institutions to raise sustainable levels of revenues to strengthen public financial management that is geared towards inclusive development.

Tasks

• Support the design and implementation of capacity building projects with partner institutions to strengthen budget implementation at the national and sub-national levels
• Contribute to the timely implementation of workplans
• Assist in the monitoring of activities
• Contribute to the reporting and knowledge management of the GovID Programme
• Support the design and preparation of workshops, seminars and other events
• Support regular engagements with partner institutions and other relevant stakeholders
• Perform other duties and tasks at the request of management

Qualification Required & Experience

• Students currently enrolled in a Master’s Programme or having finished their Bachelor’s degree in the field of Public Administration, Economics, Development Studies or related fields less than six months ago by the start of the internship may apply.
• Foundational knowledge and strong interest in Public Financial Management, Budgeting, Decentralisation, Public Service Delivery
• Strong interpersonal skills with ability to work in a multicultural environment
• Motivated team player with an organized, systematic, proactive, detail- and goal-oriented work approach
• Excellent command of the English language (written & spoken)
• Ideally, you have already gained some practical experience in international cooperation.

5.) Technical Advisor (E-Waste)

 

Project Brief

• The project " Environmentally Sound Disposal and Recycling of E-Waste in Ghana " (in short E-Waste Programme) supports the Ministry of environment, Science, Technology, and Innovation (MESTI) of the Republic of Ghana in introducing sustainable e-waste management.

Scope of the Role

• The Technical Advisor is responsible for business support to the private e-waste recycling sector, to the repair sector regarding e-waste collection, the organizational support to the recyclers’ umbrella organizations, the cooperation between the GIZ E-waste program and national agencies in regards of auditing and counselling services for recycling companies and for networking with all relevant public and private stakeholders.

Tasks

• Support to the technical and business development of the private ewaste recycling sector, needs assessment, gap analysis, interface
management of formal and informal e-waste recyclers, technical solutions and brokering funds
• Technical and business support to the repair sector, support to theumbrella organisation, initiate stakeholder dialogues
• Organizational support to establishment of an umbrella organisation for the recycling industry, needs assessment, support formulation of
funding proposals, support to the definition of the role as umbrella organisation
• Cooperate with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in regards of auditing and counselling services for recycling companies, advice on rules and regulations to private e-waste sector companies
• Support cooperation and dialogue with partners and relevant stakeholders, promote the exchange of ideas between different stakeholder groups






Qualification Required & Experience

• University degree in Environmental Sciences, Policy and Management and/or Urban Planning and/or Environmental Sanitation and Waste
Management (equivalent MSc)
• 5-10 years professional experience in private and public sector in Ghana, mainly focusing on environmental management
• Very good knowledge of e-waste related international conventions, national laws and regulations
• Good working knowledge of ICT technologies
• Willingness to upskill as required by the tasks to be performed – corresponding measures are agreed with management
• Excellent knowledge of the English language
Strong communication skills and ability to engage stakeholders and
facilitate networking
• Diligent, goal oriented, open minded and innovative, team player and ability to perform task without supervision
• Strong interpersonal skills, work experience in an intercultural environment is an asset

6.) Technical Advisor (FAIR Forward – Artificial Intelligence for All)

 

Project Brief

“FAIR Forward – Artificial Intelligence for All” strives for a more open, inclusive and sustainable approach to AI. To enhance key conditions for local AI, the initiative is pursuing the goals of removing entry barriers to AI by supporting the development of quality and open datasets, strengthening local technical know-how on AI and developing policy frameworks that promote ethical AI and innovative local AI solutions.

Scope of the Role

The Technical Advisor will manage activities with a focus on establishing and managing collaboration between FAIR Forward and stakeholders in Ghana, contribute to strengthening local technical know-how on AI, contribute to removing entry barriers to AI and providing professional
advisory services on the development of policy frameworks that promote ethical and innovative AI solutions.







Tasks

• Manage the development and implementation of project initiatives including setting up and steering of innovative pilots on AI, e.g. on
“Access to Training Data and AI Technologies for Local Innovation” to boost AI’s role in supporting sustainable agriculture, energy and in
combatting climate change.
• Cooperate with stakeholders on AI, mainly government institutions, the private sector and civil society organizations in Ghana including high-level negotiations with international and national institutions and comanagement of joint initiatives.
• Provide advice on “Ethical AI Policy Frameworks” to government partner institutions and manage cooperation on this goal with international partners such as “Smart Africa” and United Nations Global Pulse.
• Support the coordination and scaling up of activities with other digital projects of GIZ in Ghana, mainly the Digital Transformation Center.
Support the management of subcontractors and supervision of events, consultancies and studies on AI in Ghana.
• Ensure knowledge transfer within the global implementing team of FAIR Forward and provide inputs for various project reports including annual
reports.

Qualification Required & Experience

• Minimum requirement MA/MSc/MPA in economics, political sciences, computer sciences, technology policy, international relations, studies related to sustainable human development with a focus on digital topics, or other fields in an area related to the project objectives
• At least 2-5 years of professional experience in a comparable position
• Several years of professional experience in the area of Artificial Intelligence or data science or related fields such as data application
for development (data4development)
• Professional experience in project management, preferably in a development cooperation context and in international contexts
• Professional experience in advisory services and in innovative event and project management
• Preferably, work experience in policy advice on digital development / digital transformation with governmental partners
• Ability to take responsibility and work on own initiative while having a tight time schedule
• Team oriented, analytical and communicative skills, also in crosscountry, cross-cultural teams

7.) Junior Human Resource Officer

 

Reports to: Head of Human Resources
Assignment Period: 1 year with a possibility of an extension
Location: Country Office, Airport Residential Area - Accra

Scope of Work

The Junior HR Officer is primarily responsible for providing support to the HR-team in dealing with all tasks and responsibilities assigned such as employee relations, onboarding, recruitment / employment, affirmative action and employment law compliance

The Junior Human Resource Officer provides support in

• day to day HR administration assistance and operational activities
• providing support to the entire HR Team
• assisting to identify relevant HR related problems and issues and assisting in formulating corrective implementation-oriented solutions in support
• assist with handling HR requests from staff and managers and assisting to resolve them
• Assisting with HR data management, filing, updating files, contract management, exit management and knowledge management by disseminating and documenting know-how, experience and information in the HR department.

Qualification Required & Experience

Required qualifications, competences and experience

• Outstanding university degree; preferably HR qualification, Business administration, law or
sociology (if possible with a focus on HR administration or management) or comparable degree







Professional experience:

• initial experience (internship or similar) in this area
• practical or basic knowledge of HRIS Software (SAP) or any other software comparable

Other Knowledge, additional competencies required:

• very good communication skills (written and oral)
• very good working knowledge of Microsoft application suite (e.g. MS office suite such as word, PowerPoint, excel etc.)
• basic knowledge and understanding of national labour law
• basic knowledge and understanding of HR principles, practices, procedures and contract management
• very good command of English language (both written and oral) is required; knowledge of German language is an asset
