1.) Component Manager

Project: ComCashew EU-REACH
Reports To: Project Manager
Contract Duration: 31.12.2021 (Renewable)
Location: Wa (Upper West Region)

Project Brief:

• The ComCashew-EU REACH project aims to enable a sustainable and inclusive improvement in the rural economy through enhanced implementation of gender-sensitive climate change adaptation and mitigation practices in at least 200 Communities in the Joint Programme Area of the EU Ghana Agriculture Programme (EUGAP) by 2024.
• The project will increase agricultural incomes, promote inclusive and sustainable economic growth in rural communities of the Joint Programme Area by 2024. The project will directly benefit Metropolitan, Municipal and Districts Assemblies, farmers and rural communities who are the most affected and most threatened by climate change.

Scope of the Role:

• The Component Manager will be responsible for the management and overall coordination of the REACH Component 2, with its focus on Conservation Agriculture, communications, and knowledge facilitation exchange within the EU GAP, GIZ portfolio in Ghana and other projects.

Your Tasks

• Serve as principal back-stopper for staff and consultants working on Conservation Agriculture (CA) and Community Action Plan (CAP) assignments and ensure that activities are carried out according to the approved work plan and budget.
• Oversee the communication activities, including strategy development and implementation for the radio and nature club programs.
• Ensure financial and results-based monitoring of the component and unit is according to GIZ rules and regulations.
• Facilitate the knowledge exchange within the European Union Ghana Agriculture Programme (EU GAP), the GIZ portfolio in Ghana other projects.
• Manage employees in accordance with management principles and guidelines to promote a sense of corporate identity, enable employees to carry out tasks independently and create scope for developing creativity and innovation.
• Responsible for recruiting, selecting, grading, planning the assignment of and professional development of employees.
• Responsible for monitoring, managing a team and ensuring that they provide cost-effective services.

Qualification Required & Experience

Your Profile

• Masters/MSc or Doctorate in an area that is related to the programme objectives, with a focus on a relevant field.
• Several years of work experience in the context of international cooperation or a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience working in the private sector.
• Very good working knowledge of ICT (related software, phone, email, internet) and computer applications (e.g., MS Office).
• A proven track record in a managerial role.
• Willingness to upskill as required by the tasks to be performed.
• Leadership experience in intercultural teams is an asset.
• Experience in the management of administrative processes, organizational skills, ability to motivate your team across cultural boundaries to work independently and to achieve good results.
• Fluent in English, knowledge of German and French is a strong asset.

2.) Human Resource Officer

 

Job Role: Human Resource Officer
Project: Country Office
Reports To: Head, Human Resources
Contract Duration: 2 years (Renewable)
Location: Accra

Our activities cover three priority areas: Energy and Climate, which deals with renewable energy and energy efficiency; Training and Sustainable Growth for Decent Jobs; and Peaceful and Inclusive Societies, which focuses on good governance.

Scope of the Role

• The Human Resource Officer is responsible for delivering general HR services towards the achievement of the human resource strategy particularly in the areas of recruitment, learning and development, compensation and benefits, employee engagement and employee relations.
• The HR Officer deputizes for the Head of HR and supports the implementation of HR policies and procedures as required.

Your Tasks

• Responsible for the project or department vacancy planning and the effective management and delivery of the recruitment process of all levels of employees ensuring procedures are followed to fill the vacancy with the most suitable candidate in a timely and efficient manner.
• Determine the appropriate contract based on national labour law and the material and formal conditions and draw up the employment contract based on the standard GIZ contract and local hiring conditions.
• Oversee immigration process (invitation and introductory letters) and advise employees on immigration issues to maintain compliance with all applicable immigration rules and regulations.
• Formulate/update human resource policies and procedures for management approval, update the employee handbook to reflect any changes in consultation with company lawyer and ensure all HR policies are duly implemented and adhered to
• Ensure that payroll functions smoothly.
• Coordinate learning and development programmes and ensure that employees identified training and developmental needs are met within agreed periods by developing periodical training plans and training calendars to meet training needs identified.
• Resolve and effectively advise team leaders and employees in dealing with employee relations issues and maintaining good relations.
• Perform any other duties that may be assigned from time to time.

Qualification Required & Experience

Your Profile

• Minimum of a Bachelors’ Degree in HR Management or a related field with a relevant HR professional certification e.g. CIPD, IHRMP, PHRi or SHRM
• At least 5 years’ professional experience in the same or comparable position
• Experience with HRIS/Applicant Tracking databases is a plus.
• Knowledge of HR software and MS Suite are essential and good presentation skills.
• Familiar with HR systems, processes, and procedures and advisory on HR Issues
• Good Knowledge of Industrial Relations/ National labour and social law
• Impressive track record in a service provider and governance role
• Awareness of how to handle HR issues appropriately (confidentiality, data protection)

3.) Technical Advisor (PSED)

 

Job Role: Technical Advisor
Project: Programme Sustainable Economic Development (PSED)
Reports To: Senior Project Manager
Contract Duration: Until 30.09.2022
Location: Accra

Project Brief:

• The Programme for Sustainable Economic Development (PSED) aims at improving the conditions for the creation of decent and productive employment. Since 2012 the programme has been implementing the Ghana Skills Development Initiative (GSDI) to support the reform of technical vocational education and training (TVET).

Scope of the Role:

• The Technical Advisor is responsible for all aspects of monitoring and evaluation including quality assurance and programme improvement. This includes data collection, data analysis and interpretation, and reporting of data.

Your Tasks

• Develop/revise measurement tools and data collection procedures with the support of the management.
• Review the quality of existing data in the project subject areas, the methods of collecting it, and the degree to which it will provide good baseline statistics for impact evaluation.
• Maintain projects logical frameworks/impact matrices, ensuring indicator achievements are updated on a regular basis and shared with the management.
• Ensure timely and adequate implementation of the M&E strategy. Assist in the development and/or finalization of the component’s operational plan and keep it updated in accordance with project activities and timeframes as relevant. • Collect data on a regular basis to measure achievement against the performance indicators.
• Analyse monitoring data to provide timely project feedback to the management. Coordinate and support project progress reporting, project mid-term review and final reporting/evaluation.
• Produce reports on M&E findings and prepare presentations based on M&E data as required.
• Perform other duties as may be assigned by the management.

Qualification Required & Experience

Your Profile

• First level university degree in statistics, demographics, public policy, international development, economics, or related field.
• Minimum of three (3) years of professional experience in an M&E position responsible for implementing M&E activities of international development projects.
• Experience in designing, implementing, and operating project M&E systems from project initiation to closeout stages.
• Strong analytical skills and knowledge in quantitative/qualitative analysis, experience with statistics and digital tools, ability to analyse datasets to produce structured reports.
• Excellent presentation and communication skills, proven skills in research and report writing.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
• Experience with working in multicultural environment, with good interpersonal relationship.
Strong knowledge of ICT technologies and computer applications (e.g. Microsoft Office especially Excel, plus any other database programme).
• Willingness to update skills as required by the tasks to be performed.
