Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) Plc is recruiting to fill the following positions:

1.) Graduate Technical Trainee
2.) Distribution Substation Operator
3.) Technical Supervisor

 

Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) Plc - Headquartered in Ibadan is responsible for electricity distribution within the south western zone (Oyo, Ogun, Osun and kwara as well as some parts of Kogi, Ekiti and Niger states).

1.) Graduate Technical Trainee

 

Loaction: Oyo, Ogun, Osun, Kwara, Kogi, Ekiti, Niger - Nigeria

Job Description

  • To work closely with various teams within the organisation and develop a full understanding of the business, giving room for an optional area of speciality in the power sector.

Responsibilities

  • Performs preliminary design and budgetary estimate for projects including planning and design for new lines, relocations, upgrades, etc.
  • Develops network material lists – outlines network structure framing details including specifying all parts, hardware, insulators and grounding details, etc.
  • Coordinates distribution network design process - ensures compliance with environmental and licensing processes and resolves issues
  • Conducts power flow, power reliability, and economic evaluation studies.
  • Designs and maintains databases of system loads
  • Supporting and developing energy management data review process
  • Monitoring of energy usage across the franchise and prepare various reports summarizing energy usage
  • Establish an improved data recording, collection and analysis system to keep track of energy consumption
  • Assists in the provision of information on actual energy usage on feeders to support conceptual project planning and design
  • Determine forecasts for energy demand and consumption and perform comparative load analysis
  • Maintains daily operating log on all operations both routine and emergencies.
  • Report all operations to the dispatch office.
  • Take and record all instructions on operations from B/H dispatch Office, O&M.

Requirements

  • Minimum Qualification: Bachelor's Degree
  • Required Experience: 1 - 3 years

2.) Distribution Substation Operator

 

Location: Oyo, Ogun, Osun, Kwara, Kogi, Ekiti, Niger - Nigeria
Specialization: Substation Operator

Job Description

  • Regulates flow of electricity through substation of electric power system and over distribution lines to consumers: Records readings of switchboard instruments to compile data concerning quantities of electric power used for substation operation and amounts distributed from station

Responsibilities

  • Inspecting, operating and maintaining substations and distribution apparatus consistent with safety regulation.
  • Controlling equipment such as Current converter, Voltage transformers and Circuit breakers to regulate the flow of electricity through substations and overhead distribution lines to customers
  • Reporting outages, load data to load dispatcher and receiving switching instructions
  • Observe switchboard instruments to detect indications of line disturbances, such as ground, shorted, or open circuit.
  • Issues protective tags through established safe clearance procedures for all equipment in the plant and substation.
  • Notes changes in load and makes routine adjustments to meet such changes without immediate supervision. Reports unusual situations to supervision.
  • Maintains daily operating log on all operations, both routine and emergency, and reports on line outages and weather conditions. Records hourly readings of indicating and integrating meters, and changes, marks and checks charts of recording instruments.
  • Switches and maintains substation equipment for proper operation.
  • Prepares the equipment for operation and starts, stops and controls the units, adjusting the load and voltage and accessory regulating equipment as required.
  • Performs switching operations in accordance with standard operating procedures.

Qualification and Experience

  • Minimum Qualification: OND
  • Required Experience: 0 - 1 year

Skills Requirements:

  • Technical knowledge of power distribution network
  • Technical knowledge in Switchgear Operation.

3.) Technical Supervisor

 

Location: Oyo, Ogun, Osun, Kwara, Kogi, Ekiti, Niger - Nigeria

Job Description

  • To supervise and ensure that all aspects of maintenance and repair of the electrical systems & network are executed in a timely manner, and to carry out services as directed and instructed by Technical Manager or the Divisional Chief.

Responsibilities

  • Identifying and eliminating hazards and potentially dangerous situations.
  • Ensuring that the maintenance plans and schedules, in accordance with the maintenance rules for High Tension (HT) and Low Tension (LT) lines are implemented.
  • Ensuring that all faults within the local network area are promptly attended to.
  • Ensure that all duties are completed in the time provided, and to a high standard.
  • Keep abreast of new trends and development in the fields of maintenance to ensure cost-effective   and efficient service is always delivered
  • Undertaking emergency call outs and standbys when required.
  • Complying with Internal and External HSE and Quality requirements.
  • Maintain good relationships with the clients
  • To report any concerns or issues to the line manager immediately for action e.g. broken equipment.
  • Maintain cleanliness and tidiness in the work area at all times other duties, as required.
  • Follow all published guidelines, standards, policies and procedures to ensure satisfactory completion of work.
  • Constantly maintain and develop competence level and technical skills to ensure service delivery to high standards.

Requirements

  • Minimum Qualification: Bachelor's degree
  • Required Experience 5 - 7 years

  • Proficient in the use of the computer (MS office application).Microsoft Office Skills.
