Job Description

  • As the Environmental Health and Safety Officer at our furniture manufacturing company, you will ensure compliance with national health, safety, and environmental regulations to safeguard the well-being of employees and the environment.
  • Your role will focus on implementing effective safety policies, conducting regular inspections, and fostering a safety-first culture to reduce accidents and hazards in the workplace.
  • You will also be instrumental in training staff and managing emergency response initiatives in alignment with regulations, including the National Policy on Occupational Safety and health, Factories Act and other relevant health and safety laws.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement safety policies: Design and update safety protocols in line with Nigerian legislation on health and safety and industry best practices to mitigate workplace hazards.
  • Conduct regular inspections: Perform safety audits, hazard assessments, and inspections of the factory’s work environment to ensure compliance with safety standards.
  • Safety training: Organize and deliver regular safety training for all employees, focusing on proper equipment handling, emergency procedures, and accident prevention.
  • Incident investigation: Lead investigations into workplace accidents and incidents, analyse causes, and recommend corrective measures to prevent future occurrences.
  • Emergency preparedness: Develop, maintain, and periodically review emergency response plans and procedures, including fire drills, first aid, and evacuation protocols.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance: Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Nigerian health, safety, and environmental laws and regulations, ensuring the company complies with all local and national requirements.
  • Risk assessments: Identify potential hazards related to the production process, equipment, and chemicals used in manufacturing, providing recommendations for mitigation.
  • Waste management oversight: Ensure proper waste disposal, hazardous material management, and environmental conservation practices within the factory premises.
  • Reporting and documentation: Prepare and submit safety performance reports, incident logs, and regulatory compliance documents to the relevant authorities.
  • Promote safety culture: Foster a proactive safety culture where all employees are encouraged to take responsibility for their health and safety and that of others.

Requirements

  • A minimum of B.Sc / HND in Engineering and Sciences.
  • 3 - 5 years of experience in a health and safety role, preferably in the manufacturing sector.
  • Must possess membership of ISPON (Institute of Safety Professionals of Nigeria) certificate or in-View
  • Certification in Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) levels I, II, and III.
  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of Nigerian safety regulations, including the National Policy on Occupational Safety and health, Factories Act and other relevant health and safety laws
  • Proven experience in conducting risk assessments, safety audits, and accident investigations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to train and engage employees at all levels.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage safety programs.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and safety management software.
  • Ability to respond to emergencies calmly and effectively

6.) AutoCAD Designer

Job Title: AutoCAD Designer

Location: Mowe, Ogun
Employment Type: Full-time

Job Summary

  • AutoCAD designers use computer software to create technical drawings based on the work of architects and engineers.
  • You are to work on different types of drawings to meet with the production standard of the company, have an artistic eye with outstanding technical and computer skills.

Responsibilities

  • Work together with internal management and 3rd party vendors to achieve best practices and standardization across the brands
  • Manage the company’s corporate prototype designs ensuring design standards are met with an overall focus on reducing production costs
  • Track assigned tasks and prioritize completion of tasks accordingly
  • Create schematic layouts and elevations in CAD for new products, remodels and renovations
  • Read and analyse existing blueprints, construction drawings, and plans
  • Work with external partners including but not limited to Architects, Engineers, Sign Manufactures and Installers, Fixture Contractors and other applicable vendors to bid projects and assess project costs
  • Support the Planning team and Project Directors with timelines, scheduling, budgeting, project documentation and project delivery
  • Generate reports and checklists as directed
  • Site visits for as-built measurements and field verification as required
  • Carry outs task assigned by superiors.

Requirements

  • Degree in Architecture, Engineering, Design, Project / Construction Management, or a related field
  • 3 to 6 years’ experience with the production of furniture/engineering drawings
  • Strong ability to work in CAD software required
  • 3-D modelling software and/or Adobe Creative Suite experience a plus
  • Proficiency in Ms Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and MS Project
