1.) Senior Project Officer - Nutrition

 

Location: Maiduguri, Borno

Job Summary

  • The Senior Nutrition Project Officer is responsible for the overall management and technical direction of Ceton Rayuka nutrition program (CMAM and MIYCN- E) activities, targeting vulnerable IDPs and host communities. Reporting to the Nutrition Program Manager with accountability to the CRS and partner's Nutrition Officers, and Nutrition Community Mobilizers, MiYCN counsellors. Ceton Rayuka Program is implemented in Gubio, Kaga and Magumeri LGAs. The Nutrition SPO will undertake the following responsibilities related to project cycle management, technical direction, and program development:

Roles and Key Responsibilities
Technical/Administrative, Program Quality and Implementation:

  • Ensure quality and timely field level implementation of the Nutrition program against set objectives, targets, and work plans
  • Advise and assist CRS nutrition team in developing project specific strategies, tools, systems, and plans.
  • Develop activity workplans for the Nutrition programme and ensure proposed activities are developed in coordination with other sectors-internally and externally with other implementing partners.
  • Ensure that nutrition programs utilize international best practices, policies, and guidelines, in line with Ministry of Health and WHO/UNICEF
  • Oversee the collection and timely reporting of data and statistics for all nutrition programs in line with CRS guidelines and according to donor requirements.
  • Actively monitor programs/projects through field visits, surveys and/or exchange of information with partners to assess progress, identify bottlenecks and take timely decisions to resolve issues and/or refer to relevant officials for timely resolution.
  • With support from the line supervisor, and MEAL department and nutrition team, lead the development of routine monitoring tools for tracking project progress, as well as necessary IEC materials to strengthen MIYCN-E and SBCC activities advocacies in the community.

Program Development and Strategic Planning

  • Contribute to and support in carrying out the situation analysis for the nutrition sector to ensure timely and current data on maternal and child nutrition are available for the designing, development, and management of nutrition projects.
  • Identify opportunities for program and proposal development in line with the CRS's and donor guidelines.
  • Work in coordination with Procurement and Admin units to track Nutrition programme procurements, delivery and distribution at the field level.
  • Participate in proposal writing and budget development processes for nutrition program
  • Lead technical assessments as a basis for nutrition program development when necessary to monitor evolving needs of the target communities and adjust the programmatic priorities as necessary.

Capacity Building and Supervision

  • Ensure the capacity building of CRS nutrition team and partner staff through on-the-job training, technical guidance and coaching sessions while ensuring staff performance evaluation plans are developed
  • Ensure appropriate support to the nutrition team by regular field visits and provide targeted technical feedback
  • Develop capacity building plans and strategies and identify relevant training opportunities for CRS and partner staff to advance knowledge and skills in nutrition.
  • Monitor staffing needs and assist the recruitment of local staff and support staff development through mentoring to enhance the capacity of project and partner staff
  • Develop a process for ensuring quality and safety of nutrition related activities and products

Coordination and Representation

  • Represent CRS at nutrition sector working group meetings and coordination forums UN, international and national NGOs for nutrition coordination as needed at the LGA and state level
  • Ensure good coordination with other CRS partners staff, nutrition field teams and provide frequent feedback and updates
  • Develop new and manage existing relationships with key stakeholders and potential collaborators for nutrition programs.
  • Good understanding of Nutrition sector reporting requirements, templates and timelines.
  • Review and highlight opportunities for Protection, safeguarding and Gender mainstreaming in the proposed Nutrition activities; And follow up to ensure, nutrition team integrate the protection principles during activity design and implementation.

Reporting:

  • Support the development of field-based reports to CRS, Nutrition sector and/or external donors, as necessary.
  • Develop reporting templates for supervisees to aid in tracking progress of programme activities and key indicators
  • Conduct any other programming responsibility delegated by the supervisor.

Basic Qualifications

  • B.Sc in Nutrition / Public Health / BSc or equivalent required. Master’s preferred.
  • 6 to 8 years of work experience in community development, mobilization and management of CMAM and MIYCN-E projects in emergencies, preferably Northeast, Borno state.
  • Experience in conducting nutrition assessments and an understanding of nutritional surveillance and information systems
  • Excellent communication skills and a willingness to be respectful, kind, sensitive and empathize with all beneficiaries
  • Willingness and capacity to be flexible and accommodating when faced with difficult and frustrating working conditions
  • Demonstrable ability at report writing, budget review and concept note development.
  • Experience in participatory action planning and community engagement.

2.) Project Assistant, Feedback

 

Location: Maiduguri, Borno

Project Background

  • The humanitarian crisis in the NE Nigerian states of Borno, Adamawa and Yobe (BAY) remains acute with many humanitarian indicators nearly as poor as were reported at the peak of the crisis. Vulnerable people continue to suffer from acute humanitarian needs, displacement, and violence which has been further exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic.
  • In this emergency context, IDP households are among the worst affected populations as displacement has resulted in the loss and destruction of key assets, the interruption of livelihoods and extensive trauma. In order to effectively respond to the crisis, CRS Borno’s emergency and early recovery programs are focused on food, NFIs, WASH and shelter for both IDPs and host families.
  • Where possible, CRS will seek to maximize project impact, efficiency and effectiveness by adopting market-based approaches – through e-vouchers and the RedRose, OneSytem platform – privileging integrated programming and empowering targeted communities through participatory approaches.

Job Summary

  • As a member of the Emergency project team, the Project Assistant Feedback will provide service in the day-to-day delivery of responsive, effective and efficient project administrative activities in support of CRS’s mission to serve the poor and vulnerable.
  • You will provide consistent and high-quality service and contribute to the proper stewardship of project resources to help ensure high-quality programming.
  • The role of the Feedback Desk Assistant is to ensure that all the calls, messages and in person visitors related to feedback are timely and formally attended to, logged and reported.
  • The position will assist the Feedback Desk Officer by providing necessary information and reports on feedback received and action taken. The position will keep proper notes, records and use predefined templates as provided by the MEAL unit for the purpose.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Serve as an assistant custodian of the feedback hotline and email.
  • Assist in maintaining proper and accurate feedback records and call register.
  • Strictly adhere to the standard operating procedures for handling sensitive and non-sensitive feedback and complaints.
  • Submit records and registers regularly and on time.
  • Assist Feedback Desk Officer in communications with complainant/feedback providers on follow-up, further inquiries and responses in the relevant local languages.
  • Assist in follow-up with programs on the actioning and resolution of feedback and complaints and ensure that the feedback loop is closed.
  • Assist documentation process for incoming and outgoing calls/SMS through hotline and support formalities required for billing process.
  • Assist in managing a central database to consolidate records and log-sheets on feedback and complaints received from the field in a timely and regular manner.
  • Support in providing all technical support to the project accountability focal points relating to the receipt and actioning of feedback and/or the response to feedback provider.

Basic Qualifications
Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma required. First Degree / Higher National Diploma in Social or Management Sciences a plus.
  • Experience working in an office environment in a clerical or administrative role. Experience with a local or international NGO a plus.
  • Strong administrative experience, including typing/word processing, data entry into online databases and forms, and working with various office equipment.
  • Experience in MS Office Package (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and information management systems. Proficient in Word.

3.) Project Assistant Accountability

 

Location: Maiduguri, Borno

Job Summary

  • The Accountability Assistant will work with the Feedback Assistant, the Accountability Officer, project teams and community mobilizers to ensure strong Feedback and Response Mechanisms (FRM) are maintained and strengthened for Ceton Rayuka II Program. Ceton Ryauka is a multisectoral program implemented in Gubio, Kaga and Magumeri LGAs.
  • S/he will be responsible for managing and monitoring beneficiary feedback on a daily basis and will prepare analysis reports presenting general trends to be shared with project teams.

Roles and Key Responsibilities

  • Assign a categorize to the feedbacks received from the hotline and through community-based mechanism (staff, community meetings, suggestion boxes, etc…)
  • Assign a ticket number to each feedback and enter feedbacks in the database
  • Regularly transmit feedbacks to the adequate teams
  • Prepare weekly and monthly reports presenting the learnings from the feedback received, per project
  • Participate in teams’ meeting to share the trends and learning from the feedbacks
  • Follow up regularly with the teams on the advancement of feedback responses
  • Regularly update the database by adding the response implemented and close feedbacks when an adequate response has been given
  • Ensure all feedback collected from beneficiaries are kept confidential and timely/accurate response is given back to them
  • Support CRS and partner to document and respond to all community feedback received
  • Support the MEAL-Accountability Officer to facilitate orientation, training and awareness sessions on beneficiary feedback mechanism to CRS and partner staffs as required.

4.) Head of Human Resources

Job Summary

  • The Head of HR will provide overall strategic HR direction and will assist the Country Program’ (CP) efforts in strategic workforce planning, recruitment, talent development, employee relations, retention, and orientation/onboarding in support of high-quality programs serving the poor and vulnerable.
  • This position will technically supervise and work with all in country HR staff to strengthen the HR management capacity throughout the CP and will institute the use of CRS GPR management standards and good HR industry systems, processes, and practices.

Roles and Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic guidance and coaching to guide country leadership and senior management, HR professionals, and supervisors to mitigate risk on complex HR issues, in identifying, understanding, and implementing county-program policies and practices related to workforce planning, REDI, safeguarding, performance, discipline, positive employee relations and related topics.
  • Advise CP’s Leadership Team, project leads and HR department on organization and staffing structures, organization effectiveness and change management, inclusion, diversity, HR Reports and Workforce Analytics.
  • Lead the development of CRS/Nigeria HR strategies by identifying and researching human resources issues; contributing information, analysis, and recommendations to organization strategic thinking and direction; establishing human resources objectives in line with CP objectives.
  • Consult with CP leadership on the Performance Management process, understand and leverage Talent Management, coach employees and managers on employee relations, performance management workplace practice and policy issues.
  • Monitor, review, and analyze the impact and effectiveness of HR management programs, processes, and services throughout the CP including all sub-offices and provide expert guidance, advice, coaching, and technical support in the implementation of sustainable improvement solutions.
  • Understand CRS’ compensation practices and policies and improve compensation policy understanding across the country program. Lead on assessing professional development needs of HR staff and ensure focused plans for mentoring and capacity building to strengthen HR service quality and career development.
  • Lead CP management efforts in ensuring culture alignment with CRS mission and guiding principles, where dignity, diversity, community and rights and responsibilities of all staff are valued.
  • Act as the CP liaison with the region and a key point of contact on all HR-related matters. Provide analytical reports on HR data, metrics, and trends. Contribute to the agency’s Human Resources Community of Practice and CRS global HR agenda.
  • Consult with managers and employees regarding employee relations issues to develop and sustain optimal solutions. Develop efficient and effective wellbeing strategies/initiatives to ensure maximum staff care.
  • Perform HR audits to ensure HR systems, policies, processes, and practices meet agency, donor, and local legal requirements and standards and support operational excellence.

Basic Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in HR Management, Business Administration or Organizational Development strongly preferred, or equivalent relevant experience and bachelor’s degree.
  • Minimum of seven years’ work experience in HR including emergency responses, with at least three in a senior management role with an international organization, with strong knowledge of HR best practices and standards.
  • Experience with and demonstrated ability to analyze, interpret and advice on employment laws, regulations, policies, principles, concepts, and practices for various countries.
  • Proven experience in presenting, facilitating, coaching, and capacity building on HR topics.
  • Proven experience in developing talent management strategies and work plans.
  • International NGO and/or experience outside of Nigeria strongly desired.
  • Required Language–English Language
  • Travel - Must be willing and able to travel up to 25%.

  • Experience in project management and change management (HR projects).

Job Summary

  • The Drivers will be responsible for ensuring that the minimum maintenance standard of the CRS/Nigeria’s fleet is the vehicle manufacturer’s specification.
  • She/He will also follow up and ensure that routine preventative maintenance schedules for the vehicles are strictly adhered to in a manner that will assure reliable transportation of of CRS staff, assets and other goods.

Roles and Key Responsibilities

  • Make recommendations and implement measures that will safeguard the CRS Nigeria vehicles and vehicle equipment to enhance efficiency and reduce the possibility of theft or damage.
  • Ensure that daily checks are performed on assigned vehicle before it is driven in the morning.
  • Completes the Daily Vehicle Reports and submits to the Head driver each day
  • Check and ensure that all journeys and trips (no matter how short) are recorded using the Vehicle Logbook provided in each vehicle.
  • Notifies the Head driver immediately in accident situations, after checking that all persons involved are safe and follows the procedure for what to do in case of an accident.
  • Ensures that fuel does not fall below half a tank in any of the vehicles.
  • Responsible for ensuring that CRS vehicles are always clean
  • Be familiar with, and ensure adherence to the policies and guidelines in the Vehicle Usage and Maintenance Manuals.
  • Ensure that all travel planning procedures are followed by staff traveling in CRS vehicles and that all the relevant forms are completed.
  • Maintain a file for all vehicle request and all travel related forms.
  • Complete the Motor vehicle Monthly reports /Fuel Usage report and motor vehicle monthly Maintenance report by the 5th of each month.

  • Valid Nigerian driver’s license and good knowledge of Borno State roads - knowledge of other Northeastern Nigerian, Northwestern Nigerian and Abuja Roads is an added advantage.
  • Ability to communicate in English Language is essential.
