Our app hosts thousands of educational video tutorials that combine quality lessons delivered by experts in education, with digital animations and illustrations to explain key concepts; thereby, providing students with a learning experience that is unprecedented in its richness, scope, interactivity, and effectiveness.
We currently provide students between the grades of 1 and 12 with access to high-quality, curriculum-relevant, animated video lessons. At the moment, our uLesson App has been downloaded over 2 million times and we’ve been featured by credible media houses like CNN, Venturebum, Techcrunch, Quartz and Business insider.

1.) Digital Illustrator
Location: Jabi, Abuja (FCT)
Employment Type: Contract
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare storyboards and rough drafts according to illustration/design requirements
- Combine hand-drawing and paintings with digital media to create complete illustrations.
- Design expressive images and video that are on-brand
- Manage multiple projects within design specifications and budget restrictions
- Refine existing illustrations.
- Undertake research to generate design ideas
- Use various colors, graphics and effects to better visualize each concept.
- Participate in design briefs with team members to identify their needs.
- Enhance uLesson brand illustration style and contribute to extending storytelling reach.
- Ensure that illustrations meet quality and brand standards.
- Ensure that illustrations meet technical requirements.
- Brainstorm with the design team to come up with new ideas.
- Collaborate with a cross-functional teams to create compelling illustrations.
- Stay current with latest standards, processes, trends, techniques and software in the illustration field.
- Contribute to best practice implementation throughout the design projects.

Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor's Degree in Graphic Arts, Design, Communications, or related field
- 3-4 years proven experience in graphics designing or similar role
- A high proficiency level in using illustration tools i.e. Illustrator, Photoshop, Procreate, and Affinity Designer
- Demonstrable portfolio that showcases aesthetic awareness, high-caliber drawing skills, and various illustration styles
- In-depth knowledge and experience using computer-aided design (CAD) software, Photoshop and Adobe illustrator.
- Drawing Skills: capable of generating hand-drawn and digital pen illustration concepts quickly and precisely with attention to detail
- Strong aesthetic and conceptual skills.
- Able to generate thoughtful and engaging illustration concepts that go beyond 1-to-1 representation
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to clearly explain creative decisions in words and writing
- Effective time management skills and the ability to meet deadlines.
Salary
N300,000 - N600,000 / month.

2.) Animator

Key Responsibilities
- Work with media and production teams to develop quality content that meets the needs of both high achieving learners and special needs.
- Collaborate with team members to determine how animation (including setting, actions, and other elements) will develop/enhance storyline.
- Adhere to voice and messaging specifications for animations
- Create concept sketches and models that assist with development and selection of final characters and scenes.
- Create digitally animated images based on concept, narrative, and character profiles.
- Manage multiple projects within design specifications
- Review content developed by fellow team members to ensure quality.
- Motion Design/Animation: use tools to create intriguing, engaging and comprehensible video lessons.
- Creates digitally animated images based on concept, narrative, and character profiles.
- Work with cinematographers and sound designers to produce interactive video lessons that meet the company’s internal standards.
- Ensure personal and team targets are completed within timelines

About the Role
We are looking for talented individuals who are passionate about media, technology, education, and the African continent, to join our team. The focus will be to build content based on the South African FET curriculum for Grades 10-12, to cover:
- English as a First Additional Language
- Mathematics/Mathematical Literacy
- Life Sciences
- Physical Sciences
- Accounting
- Economics
- Geography
Key Responsibilities
- Developing quality academic content that meets the needs of both high achieving learners and learners with special needs.
- Reviewing content developed by fellow team members to ensure quality.
- Co-planning, evaluating, and revising subject-based curricula, and methods of instruction.
- Ensuring that personal and team targets are not just met, but exceeded.
- Working based on either pre-existing or innovative systems to ensure the growth of the company’s library and content.
- Working alongside the company’s illustrators to ensure that produced contents are of the highest possible quality.
- Improving the quality of developed content as guided by learner and/or colleague feedback.
- Providing swift responses to questions and inquiries made by the company’s motion and sound designers, as well as the learners.
- Any special assignment or task assigned by the manager.
Qualification and Skills
- A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in a Humanities, Business, STEM related field.
- At least 2 years of teaching and/or lecturing experience: physical, virtual, one-to-one, one-to-many.
- Deep knowledge of the South African primary and secondary school curricula.
- Excellent writing, speaking, and presentation skills.
- Deep passion and ability for teaching.
- Experience in developing e-learning courses and/or lessons is a plus.
