1.) Protection and Security Advisor

About You

The suitable candidates must have an extensive experience of security analysis and security management in Africa especially in Nigeria; knowledge of case management, physical and digital security risks, information security risks, risk analysis, and the ability to advise on potential mitigation measures; strong understanding of an organization's duty of care requirements and how this will integrate with other good security practices, health and safety legislation and organizational needs in the local context.

Main Responsibilities
- Advise on all safety, protection and security related issues in Nigeria.
- Reviewing the organisation’s existing security policies and procedures
- Providing operational advice and support as required to managers and staff on the preparation and execution of high-risk travel, including direct security support during deployments in high-risk areas
- Identifying and scoring the prevalent security threats including terrorism, workplace violence, civil unrest, cyberattack, armed conflict, organized and violent crime, and political violence.
- In collaboration with the Director, designing and implementing fit-for purpose, practical security plans and reviewing them on a regular basis.
- Providing professional security risk assessment advice and support to management.
- Assessing potential security threats or breaches and creating contingency plans for when breaches occur.
- Contribute to the identification, selection and management of outsourced security services and contractors.
- Developing and implementing crisis management procedures and contribute to the team’s response during a crisis or unexpected work
- Develop and ensure the effective functioning of emergency response protocols
- Overseeing security incident response and ensure effective security incident reporting in Nigeria
- Developing, coordinating, and delivering all security-related training for staff, partners, and supporters.
- Training staff to recognize and defend against security breaches and risks
- Developing and maintaining a case-management system for activists and individuals at risk
- Capturing and analysing political, social, economic, environmental, trends, and best practices to continuously improve the organisation and staff safety and security profiles
- Coordinating, producing, updating, and presenting reports on security situation in Nigeria
- Remaining up to date with the latest security systems, tools, trends, and technology.
- Promote a common understanding within Nigeria of security and risk management as an essential element underpinning Amnesty’s work

Qualifications, Skills and Experience

- A Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant discipline or professional training in Security Management or a related field, or comparable work experience/certification
- At least 5 years work experience. Non-profit/NGO sector experience, is desirable
- Extensive experience of security analysis and security management in Africa especially in Nigeria
- Knowledge of case-management, physical and digital security risks, information security risks, risk analysis, and ability to advise on potential mitigation measures
- Strong understanding of an organisation’s duty of care requirements and how this will integrate with other good security practices, health and safety legislation and organisational needs in the local context

Main Responsibilities
- Design and implement a Human Rights Education (HRE) strategy and plan for AI Nigeria.
- Identify and conceptualize human rights education work with potential for successful fundraising, provide and present human rights education work in a way that helps to attract donors.
- Support the development and implementation of human rights education initiatives in Nigeria, including problem identification, project design and planning, implementation, budget management, evaluation and reporting to relevant bodies within and outside the Amnesty International movement to ensure that projects are effectively managed within the context of the Global Human Rights Education Strategy and other international, regional and national strategies and policies.
- Support improved human rights education capacity of staff in the Nigeria national office, as well as partners, activists, supporters and other participants by:
- Analysing HRE capacity building needs and facilitating capacity building initiatives for these target groups.
- Identifying, adapting and developing HRE resources relevant to the needs of the country.
- Ensuring high quality, transparency and accountability of key processes in human rights education work in the country, including: the selection of partners; recruitment of participants; project design, development, and budgeting; project approval process; financial management and reporting; support system for partners and participants.

- Promote the right to human rights education and advocate for access to human rights education in Nigeria.

Job Summary
- To develop, facilitate and implement Amnesty International’s activism and growth strategies, plans and projects nationally. To produce content and coordinate activities and communication outputs designed to grow, engage, retain, and mobilise activists, supporters, and members in Nigeria and the general public.
- To enable active participation of rights holders in campaigning; to increase the participation, engagement, and leadership of young people for human rights impact and to implement Amnesty Nigeria’s Youth strategy and action plan.

About The Role
- The Activism and Growth officer will develop, facilitate, and implement Amnesty International Nigeria's activism and growth strategies through the production of content, coordinate activities and communicate outputs designed to grow, engage, retain, and mobilise activists, supporters, and members in Nigeria and the public.
About You
- The suitable candidates must have excellent knowledge of youth activism best practices and tools, engagement patterns and scales, training methodologies and participative approaches.
- Must have strong experience writing and producing engaging human rights content; manage or support the delivery of innovative online activities and identify and collaborate with community groups, partners to organize projects to increase the participation, engagement and leadership of young people and rights holders as a contribution to growth in the constituency for human rights impact.
Main Responsibilities
- Develop and coordinate an effective growth and retention plan for Nigeria aligned to global strategies.
- Implement Amnesty International Nigeria’s Youth Strategy and Action Plan.
- Identify and collaborate with community groups, partners to organize projects to increase the participation, engagement and leadership of young people and rights holders as a contribution to growth in constituency for human rights impact.
- Monitor and document Amnesty International Nigeria’s supporters’ engagements and growth including contributing to acquisition and retention activities aimed at increasing participation of women and youth.
- Work with various teams, to design strategies to grow new online audiences and increase their engagement
- Coordinate the delivery of global supporter journeys for Nigerian audiences, on a range of campaigns, activism, and fundraising opportunities.
- Write and produce engaging human rights content primarily for supporter emails, but also for other content types (e.g. adverts, surveys, videos, animations, blogs etc)
- Set up email campaigns, templates and automated emails series that provide supporters and activists with relevant content and activities and optimise the success of email content.
- Project manage or support delivery of innovative online activities, designed to develop supporter’s skills– e.g. online learning, micro-tasking etc.
- Manage the implementation of new digital technologies and practices around email marketing.
- Contribute to the development of knowledge products (research, training tools, etc.)
- Monitor and evaluate main activities and results and report accordingly using relevant tools.
- Capturing and analysing political, civil society developments and trends, metrics, insights and best practices to continuously improve our activism techniques, and then act with a data-driven approach
- Contribute to the development of programme-wide strategies and plans while integrating gender and youth perspectives in AI’s projects and policies to increase the effectiveness of AI’s human rights work
- Contribute to the team’s response during a crisis or unexpected work

Skills and Experience
- A Bachelor’s Degree in the Arts, Social Sciences, International Relations, Law, Marketing, Development Studies or related disciplines or related disciplines
- A Master’s Degree is an advantage.
- At least 3 years work experience.
- Demonstrated commitment to human rights, e.g. through previous work, membership of a network etc
- Experience in the non-profit/NGO sector, campaigning, is desirable
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to draft and proof-read research, communication and campaign materials tailored to the appropriate audience including through digital channels
- Ability to analyse complex sets of information and reveal trends
- Strong interpersonal skills, a helpful and personable attitude;
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English; other relevant local languages or additional foreign languages desirable;
- Excellent knowledge of youth activism best practices and tools, engagement patterns and scales, training methodologies and participative approaches.
- Good knowledge in data analysis and reporting and comfortable analysing and reporting on digital marketing KPIs including conversion and cost metrics.
- Experience of digital marketing with expertise in email marketing desirable
