1.) Technical Advisor (Climate Action Programme for the Chemical Industry (CAPCI)

 

Project Brief

• The Climate Action Programme for the Chemical Industry (CAPCI) is financed by the German Federal Ministry for the Environment (BMUV) in the framework of the International Climate Initiative. It provides knowledge and capacity building in climate protection options in the chemical industry with a focus on practical application and concrete measures. Ghana is on of the focus countries of CAPCI (together with Argentina and Thailand).

Scope of the role

• The Technical Advisor will identify opportunities for the chemical industry in Ghana to reduce its Greenhouse Gas emissions, inform and train it accordingly and assist networking and communication efforts on the topic.




Tasks

The Technical Advisor will perform the following tasks:

• Technical advice in the areas of chemicals management and climate change, particularly the identification of priorities for training measures
and climate action in the private sector of Ghana.
• Support of the project management; close coordination and cooperation with the CAPCI team in headquarters in Germany
• Planning and implementation of training, advisory and other activities related to climate change mitigation in and with the chemical sector in
Ghana
• Networking and cooperation with relevant partners, such as the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Association of Ghana Industries (AGI), including its Energy Service Centre (ESC), as much as individual companies from the chemical sector; organization
of stakeholder dialogues and exchange with different stakeholders
• Assist the project leader in monitoring and reporting.
• Formulation of learning experiences and best practices
• Contributions to publications and knowledge sharing
• Support logistic and organizational tasks, including travel arrangements for CAPCI events etc.; representation of the CAPCI project in Ghana
in defined occasions and meetings

Qualification Required & Experience

• University degree (master or equivalent) in chemistry, engineering, or relevant natural sciences or economic disciplines
• At least 5 years of experience in relevant areas such as chemical engineering, energy, circular economy or environmental management and climate change
• Broad knowledge and overview of the chemical industry (specifically of Ghana) / sustainable chemistry, industrial development, climate policies, environment, circular economy etc.
• Experiences in project management and international cooperation, including - if possible - public-private cooperation and stakeholder dialogues
Willingness to travel abroad and to project sites across the country
• Team worker with excellent communicative skills
• Very good English language skills, both written and spoken

2.) Technical Advisor (Invest for Jobs)

 

Project Brief

• Invest for Jobs aims to lower investment barriers through advice on framework conditions and partners up with European and Ghanaian private sector to develop capacities and create jobs.

Scope of the role

• The Technical Advisor is responsible for cluster development and network facilitation as well as implementation of activities with our partners.
• The role will be to act as liaison and on-the-ground support to coordinate and drive activities with the aim to develop favorable framework conditions for investors and businesses and design and manage own activities related to that topic

Tasks

• Manage and implement activities related to enhance the business ecosystem, especially for the agri-processing and automotive sector in Ghana but also demand-driven for textile, BDO etc.
• Special Focus will be on Industrial Park and Special Economic Zones development in a wider sense, including Workshop Facilitation, organising Study Trips etc. as well as implementing daily operational workplans.
• Responsible for creation and facilitation among business networks to address their demands on framework and policy level.
Maintaining of a good flow of communication and information between all involved institutions and counterparts and GIZ.
• Support cooperation, regular contact and dialogue with partners, assists with PR work and cooperates with local communities, relevant organizations, private sector, non-governmental agencies and individuals in the programme environment and with other projects to improve and maintain good working relationships.
• Prepare reports and presentation documents, including monitoring & evaluation, success stories and best practice examples.
• Develop, coordinate and manage relevant project activities/interventions at local level in consultation with the manager and in cooperation with the
partners.

Qualification Required & Experience

• University degree in business development, project management or related field, master’s degree preferred.
• Certified Workshop Facilitator preferred.
• At least 5 years’ professional experience in a comparable position, e.g., project management withing the international development cooperation
required.
• Experience in working with the private sector, especially in cluster development is desirable. Professional experience in planning, implementation, monitoring, evaluation and reporting.
• Very good working knowledge of ICT technologies (related software, phone, fax, email, the internet) and computer applications (e.g., MS Office).
• Strong managerial, organisational, and social competence.
• Proficient in spoken and written English; a working knowledge of German is an asset.
• Strong interpersonal skills, work experience in an intercultural environment is an asset.
• Stakeholder engagement and communication skills to develop and maintain sound relationships are important.

3.) Technical Advisor (Programme Migration & Diaspora (PMD)

 

Project Brief

• The Programme Migration & Diaspora (PMD) harnesses the positive impact of regular migration and diaspora engagement to drive forward social and economic development in partner countries.
• PMD in Ghana contributes towards implementing the Global Compact for Migration (GCM) and works in 5 priority areas - Development-oriented return; Regular labour migration & mobility; Social engagement by diasporas; Financial and economic contributions of the diaspora; Advice on migration policy.

Scope of the role

• Responsible for managing and promoting programme and team agreements.
• Work in the PMD migration governance component at the operational level to support pro-development migration policy advisory in partner country, Ghana. Work closely with the relevant PMD colleagues, internal and external partners in implementing diaspora strategies, improving conditions for regular migration and increasing coherence with other policy areas, contributing towards the implementation of the Global Compact for Migration (GCM).

Tasks

• Assists and coordinates project activities and carries out other activities required by PMD Ghana Migration Governance component.
• Monitor the development and implementation of programme activities in consultation with counterparts. Supports M & E
• Responsible for the design, preparation and implementation of workshops, seminars and other events on issues connected with the programme’s area of activity.
• Support cooperation, regular contact and dialogue with partners, assists with PR work and cooperates with local communities, relevant organizations, private sector, non-governmental agencies and individuals in the programme environment and with other projects to improve and maintain good working relationships.
• Prepare appropriate input for various programme reports including annual reports and contributes to the other programme/component
related reports.
• Coordinate relevant project activities/interventions at local level in consultation with the manager and in cooperation with the partners regarding implementation and organizational aspects.
• Works in close tandem with Project Manager in PMD Headquarters and handle other tasks on behalf of GIZ.

Qualification Required & Experience

• Master’s degree in Migration Studies, Political Sciences, International Relations and Diplomacy, Development Studies, or any other related field
with minimum 5 years relevant professional experience.
• Professional experience in planning, implementation, monitoring, evaluation and reporting.
• Very good working knowledge of ICT technologies (related software, phone, fax, email, the internet) and computer applications (e.g. MS Office)
• Ability to work under pressure to meet pressing deadlines and should be able to adapt and manage change
• Diligent, goal oriented, open minded and innovative, team player and ability to perform task without supervision.
• Proficient in spoken and written English; working knowledge of German is an asset.
• Strong interpersonal skills, work experience in an intercultural environment is an asset; with strong managerial, organisational, social competence skills and ability to easily adapt and manage change
• Very strong communication skills and ability to engage stakeholders and facilitate networking.
• Willingness to upskill as required by the tasks to be performed – corresponding measures are agreed with management
