1.) Insights Manager (Cross CE)

 

Locations: Abuja, Port Harcourt - Rivers, Damaturu - Yobe and Kano
Pay band: 7 / F
Contract type: Indefinite Contract

Role Purpose

  • The Insights Manager, Cultural Engagement will assess market insight needs for the relevant focus area within the Cultural Engagement (CE) Strategic Business Unit (SBU), providing expert advice to colleagues on insight and research requirements.
  • The role will support designing research needs, coordinating briefs and suppliers on specific insight projects, and providing detailed quality assurance from planning to dissemination.
  • The role will also help define and develop insight practices, processes, and frameworks as set by the Head of CE Marketing Innovation.

Main Accountabilities
Consultancy, analysis & problem-solving:

  • Applies advanced market insight and analytics expertise to provide advice to Cultural Engagement globally in the relevant area.
  • Applies analytical approaches to identify and assess current state of market insights and analytics infrastructure, processes, and systems, define opportunities for improvement and design, develop and implement agreed improvements, enabling global consistency.
  • Undertakes expert analysis on options for change, benchmarking contemporary best practice, to support recommendations for change and drive market insight and analytics process and system development.
  • Distils complex concepts and analysis into cogent and persuasive presentations, which convincingly influence decision-makers about the case for new market insights and analytics approaches, systems, processes, and tools.

Internal Customer Focus:

  • Builds an in-depth understanding of the particular operational context, opportunities and challenges for market insight and analytics activities within relevant CE area.
  • Makes appropriate linkages to issues across the broader organisation, to ensure that the development of market insights and analytics projects and initiatives is based on informed business insight and joined-up thinking.
  • Consults closely with internal customers and other stakeholder to understand current and future business needs for market insights and analytics.

Service Improvement:

  • Supports the designs, development and management of the global infrastructure for market insights and analytics, e.g., insight databases / systems within relevant CE area.
  • Leads the development of global processes, standards and best practice for market insights and analytics for CE.
  • Defines and develops key data collection standards, processes and templates for CE Insights in relevant area.
  • Ensures joined up planning and delivery of customer, competitor and market research, insight and analytics projects and initiatives.
  • Ensures consistent application of agreed data collection standards, templates and processes across CE marketing.
  • Reviews impact and effectiveness of projects and initiatives, and identifies opportunities for improvement.
  • Ensures identified improvements have measurable impacts on marketing performance.
  • Actively plans to ensure engagement, buy-in and compliance with changes that will be driven from CE Insights team.

Specialist Expertise:

  • Provides expert advice, support and challenge on market insights and analytics to internal customers and other stakeholders.
  • Proactively pursues an annual cycle of formally recognised Continuing Professional Development to maintain and deepen their professional expertise.

Commercial & Financial Management:

  • Using agreed corporate systems and processes, plans and manages the budget for agreed market insight and analytics projects and initiatives.
  • Conducts monthly and year-end reporting on progress against plan and deliverables, budget, and management of issues and risks.
  • Actively applies learning from this process to improve financial planning, management and performance within their area.

Relationship & Stakeholder Management:

  • Promotes and champions best market insights and analytics within regions and countries, and through the Marketing Community of Practice.
  • Develops peer/personal networks within and outside Marketing to enhance own knowledge and expertise.
  • Proactively builds and maintains excellent relationships with internal partners and stakeholders to ensure integrated, joined up and future-proofed approaches and solutions.

Leadership & Management:

  • Plans and prioritises own work activities to ensure effective delivery of diverse responsibilities and deliverables over a quarterly to annual time horizon.
  • Determines work plans and coordinates input from others (who may be outside the direct management line) to meet specific objectives

Role Specific Knowledge and Experience

  • Relevant degree e.g. business studies, marketing, or equivalent level of experience
  • Significant experience in managing and commissioning market insight and research projects and initiatives within a large and complex organisation from commissioning to dissemination of results.
  • Demonstrable experience in providing expert advice and guidance on market insights and analytics
  • Demonstrable experience in coaching managers to use market insights and analytics to improve business performance

2.) Content Marketing Manager, SSA

Job Description

  • Marketing and Communications at the British Council is a strategic function which drives awareness, understanding and engagement with us across our diverse audiences. We use insight, knowledge and analysis of our market and our customers to engage them with our work and our products and services in the most impactful and effective way.
  • We lead the development of our brand and use our expertise to tell inspiring stories to enhance our global reputation, build lifelong relationships, engage our staff and demonstrate our impact.
  • This role is a new role as part of Marketing and Communications Transformation programme. In line with the Global Recruitment policy, standard application and recruitment decisions will apply for this role.

Role Purpose

  • To develop content for the regional, cluster and country marketing teams that brings our brand to life and helps drive commercial growth objectives. This includes the adaptation, development and design of content for all stages of the customer journey and across all channels e.g., SEO, referral programmes, social media, campaigns etc.
  • The Regional Content Marketing Manager will work closely with the regional marketing and communications teams to understand and respond to their needs, ensuring all content drives engagement, traffic and leads that ultimately deliver sales and promote customer retention.

Main Accountabilities
Product, Programme and Service Development:

  • Adapts and develops content and campaigns across multiple platforms and formats for the regional marketing and comms teams that tells our story to drive sales, engagement, retention and leads.
  • Supports the localisation of content assets, working with Brand Management and Standards and the Content Localisation Officer to tailor content to ensure regional and cultural relevancy.
  • Creates campaign and content packs for regional, cluster and country marketing teams and shares these with teams for campaign delivery.
  • Makes recommendations to line manager on improvements to content going forward based on data and insights.
  • Iterates content as required based on regional and country specific needs.
  • Manages regional print content requirements, using existing templates and working with Brand Team to develop new templates if required and providing support.
  • Tests content to gauge effectiveness and implements improvements based on results.
  • Ensure content assets are uploaded to the Brand Hub as required to be shared cross-region.

Consultancy, analysis and problem solving:

  • Seeks feedback from cluster and country marketing teams on content and campaigns, making amendments based on this.
  • Creates content for region specific channels e.g. Weibo in the Asia Pacific region.
  • Promotes a standardised approach to content, taking the lead from the Senior Content Marketing Manager whilst still making sure content meets regional and local needs.
  • Ensures website content is up-to-date, relevant and reflects value propositions to customers.

Sector / subject expertise:

  • Provides advice to regional, cluster and country teams on content and campaign assets, making recommendations for improvements.
  • Ensures all content is on brand, consistent in terms of style, quality and tone of voice and optimised for search and user experience for all channels.
  • Keeps up to date on the latest trends and best practices in content.
  • Builds an in-depth understanding of the context, opportunities and challenges for content in region, to ensure that content planning, management and delivery is based on insight and joined-up thinking and aligned to cross-region.
  • Manages regional social media channels and develops organic social media activity to drive engagement.

Relationship and stakeholder management:

  • Works closely with the regional SBU marketing leads and teams, understanding their needs around content, making recommendations and managing expectations.
  • Collaborates with the content teams in the global SBU marketing teams to define, measure and improve content approach and with the Brand Team to drive brand excellence and creative efficiencies.
  • Builds collaborative relationships with counterparts in other regional marketing hubs to reduce duplication and ensure alignment.

Commercial and finance management:

  • Where needed on occasion, supports the management of agencies related to content creation, ensuring all content delivered is on brand and to time.

About You
Essential requirements for the role:

  • Degree or professional qualification in Marketing, Communications or Business or demonstrable level of equivalent experience
  • Experience of creating marketing content within a large and complex organisation
  • Stakeholder engagement
  • Experience in optimisation of content and landing pages
  • Experience using conversion rate optimisation tools
  • Demonstrable experience of managing SEO/SEM, search engine marketing, digital display campaigns, email channels and social media marketing

Desirable requirements for the role:

  • Postgraduate Degree in a relevant field, e.g., Marketing and Communications and Business Studies or demonstrable level of equivalent experience
  • Experience of marketing technologies, data and lead generation marketing
  • Experience within a global organisation.
