Designed to support candidates from select nations who’ve opted for the IELTS as a gateway to global opportunities, this year’s award is presenting seven fortunate IELTS candidates from the listed countries with a £5,000 award to realize their academic aspirations.

The 2023 IELTS Prize is inviting entries from individuals residing in Bangladesh, Canada, Colombia, Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, and South Africa.

IELTS offers two exam types: IELTS Academic and IELTS General Training.

While the IELTS Academic is tailored for those eyeing higher education or professional credentials in English-speaking territories, the IELTS General Training is crafted for aspirants looking towards secondary education, job experience, or specific training schemes in English-speaking nations.

It also serves as a migration requisite for countries like Australia, Canada, New Zealand, and the UK. While the Listening and Speaking segments remain consistent for both versions, the Reading and Writing components vary.

Who’s Eligible?

To contend for the IELTS Prize Award 2023/24, candidates should:

Be at least 18 years of age.
Reside in the country they are applying from.
Have sat for the IELTS with the British Council between 1 April 2022 and 31 August 2023 and possess a legitimate IELTS score when applying.
Register for an IELTS exam.
Secure a minimum aggregate IELTS score of 5.5 or higher.
Apply to a global academic institution that mandates IELTS as an admission prerequisite.
Submit a university acceptance letter by October 2023.
Commence undergraduate or postgraduate courses between January 2023 to March 2024.
