Eligibility Criteria

The program is open to all international graduates who exhibit a strong enthusiasm for research and hold an impressive academic record. It’s important to note that SINGA primarily caters to international students embarking on their first educational journey in Singapore.

Hence, Singaporeans, Singapore Permanent Residents, and international students who have previously studied or are currently studying in Singapore’s tertiary institutions are ineligible.

Essential requirements include:

  • Proficiency in English (both written and spoken)
  • Positive evaluations from academic referees

Financial Benefits

The SINGA award generously covers up to four years of Ph.D. studies, including:

  • Full tuition fee waiver
  • A monthly stipend of S$2,200, which increases to S$2,700 post the Qualifying Examination
  • A one-time airfare grant up to S$1,500
  • A one-time settling-in allowance of S$1,000

Estimated Living Expenses in Singapore

  • Food: University Canteens (S$250 – S$350), Meals outside Campus (S$450 – S$600)
  • Accommodation (single room): On-Campus* (S$400 – S$700)
  • Transport: Local (S$100 – S$150)
  • Miscellaneous (stationery, laundry, toiletries, recreation, etc.): (S$400 – S$500)
