🇨🇳 Fully Funded: ANSO-CAS-TWAS/UNESCO Scholarships for Developing Countries 2024

In a collaborative effort, the Alliance of International Science Organizations (ANSO), the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), and The World Academy of Sciences for the advancement of science in developing nations (TWAS/UNESCO) are offering a unique educational opportunity.

This initiative will sponsor up to 50 talented individuals from developing countries to pursue doctoral studies in China, spanning a period of up to four years.

The ANSO Scholarship for Young Talents, established in 2019, aims to nurture and develop young scientists from across the globe. Each year, this scholarship enables 200 Master’s and 300 PhD candidates to embark on postgraduate studies at the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC), the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences (UCAS), or various institutes within the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) across China.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible, applicants must:

  1. Not possess Chinese citizenship.
  2. Be citizens of eligible developing countries in the southern hemisphere (as listed in Developing Countries in the South | TWAS).
  3. Demonstrate proficiency in either English or Chinese.
  4. For PhD candidates: Must have been born on or after January 1st, 1989.
  5. Fulfill the international student admission requirements of USTC/UCAS.
  6. Refrain from engaging in any other assignments during the scholarship tenure.
  7. Not be currently enrolled in a doctoral program at any institution in China. Violation of this will lead to disqualification and notification to the current institution.
  8. Apply to only one of either USTC or UCAS for the ANSO Scholarship to avoid disqualification.

Scholarship Benefits

PhD Program:

  1. Complete tuition waiver.
  2. Monthly stipend: 6,000 or 7,000 CNY (based on qualification test outcome), for up to 48 months.
  3. Comprehensive health insurance.
  4. Waiver of the application fee.
  5. One-time international travel allowance from the awardee’s home country to China.
  6. Single-occasion visa fee coverage.
