What Is the You and Europe Scholarship?

The You and Europe Scholarship is designed to support students from European countries, including non-EU nations, who have exceptional academic achievements and a passion for European affairs.

The program fosters a community of socially engaged individuals dedicated to promoting tolerance, mutual respect, and cultural diversity throughout Europe.

Scholarship Benefits

The You and Europe Scholarship offers a wide range of benefits to ensure students thrive academically and socially during their time in Germany:

1. Financial Support

  • Monthly funding of €300 to €1,112 based on financial need, covering the standard duration of a master’s program (typically two years).
  • Additional support for health insurance and family allowances.

2. Networking Opportunities

  • Participation in two annual meetings centered on European topics, with all costs for accommodation, meals, and program fees covered.
  • Subsidized travel expenses for scholarship events.

3. Specialized Programs

  • Exclusive access to activities such as the Europe Academy, EU simulation games, and Europe-themed lecture series.

4. Digital Collaboration

  • Access to a digital platform for networking with like-minded peers and mentors.

5. Peer Support

  • A mentor from the Studienstiftung network to guide and support students in adjusting to academic life in Germany.

Who Can Apply?

The You and Europe Scholarship is open to students from the following countries:
Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Denmark, Estonia, France, Georgia, Italy, Kosovo, North Macedonia, Portugal, Romania, Serbia, Switzerland, Spain, and Turkey.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Academic Excellence: Applicants should belong to the top 10-15% of their class.
  • Study in Germany: Proof of admission to a German master’s program is required by the start of the funding period.
  • Open Disciplines: All academic fields are eligible except visual and performing arts, design, film, and music.
  • Language Requirements: English fluency is mandatory, but knowledge of German is not required.
  • New to Germany: Applicants who previously studied or earned a degree in Germany are ineligible, except for those already enrolled in a German master’s program.

Applicants with a demonstrated interest in European issues are especially encouraged to apply!
