The Obama Foundation has officially opened applications for the 2025-2027 Voyager Scholarship, also known as the Obama-Chesky Scholarship for Public Service.

   

Funded by Airbnb CEO Brian Cheskyโ€™s generous $100 million contribution, this prestigious program is designed to empower 100 college students pursuing careers in public service.

The scholarship provides financial support, travel opportunities, and access to a global network of leaders, creating a strong foundation for future public service professionals.

Benefits of the Voyager Scholarship

This program offers selected students a comprehensive package of transformative opportunities and financial assistance, including:

1. Financial Aid

  • Recipients will receive up to $50,000 in โ€œlast dollarโ€ financial aid, split as $25,000 per year for their junior and senior years of college.
  • This funding helps reduce student debt, allowing scholars to focus on building impactful careers in public service.

2. Summer Voyage

  • Between their junior and senior years, scholars embark on a Summer Voyage designed to expand their horizons and deepen expertise in their chosen fields.
  • Participants receive a $10,000 stipend and free housing via Airbnb listings for this work-travel experience, enabling them to explore new communities.

3. 10-Year Travel Stipend

  • After graduation, recipients are awarded a $2,000 annual travel credit from Airbnb for ten years, totaling $20,000 in travel support.
  • This stipend facilitates networking, skill-building, and exposure to global communities.

4. Mentorship and Leadership Programming

  • Scholars engage in monthly virtual sessions that include speaker series, mentorship roundtables, and workshops, fostering continuous development.

5. Fall Summit

  • During their junior year, participants attend an in-person summit, where they partake in leadership activities, network with fellow scholars, and learn from experienced public service leaders.

6. Global Network

  • The scholarship connects students to a robust global network of leaders, including fellow Voyagers, Obama Leadership Network alumni, and experienced mentors.
  • Graduates join the Obama Foundationโ€™s global community, gaining lifelong access to invaluable support and resources.

Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for the Voyager Scholarship, applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Be a college junior in the United States or its territories during the 2025-2026 academic year.
