🇮🇹 Announcing the Fully Funded MAECI Scholarships 2025–2026 by Italian Government

The Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI) has opened applications for its fully funded 2025–2026 MAECI Scholarships. These scholarships are designed for international students and Italian citizens living abroad (IRE) who wish to pursue higher education, research, or Italian language and culture studies at public or accredited institutions in Italy.

This initiative supports Italy’s global vision of strengthening ties in education, science, and culture while promoting the Italian language and values such as sustainability and innovation.

What the MAECI Scholarships Cover

Successful applicants can receive up to €9,000 in funding for degree programs such as:

  • Master’s Degrees
  • PhDs
  • AFAM (Arts, Music, and Dance programs)
  • Research projects
  • Select Bachelor’s degrees

Additionally, students enrolling in 3-month Italian language and culture courses may receive €3,000 in financial support.

Other Benefits Include:

  • Health and medical insurance
  • Possible tuition fee waivers
  • Stipend paid in three installments, based on:
    • Enrollment confirmation
    • Physical presence in Italy
    • Academic performance and progress

  • WikiAfrica Education
  • Attanasio Grants (for students from Morocco, Nigeria, and the Democratic Republic of Congo)

Who Can Apply for the MAECI Scholarships?

Nationality:

  • Foreign citizens residing outside Italy
  • Italian citizens living abroad (IRE) – limited to specific countries

Academic Requirements:

  • A suitable diploma or academic degree based on the chosen program level (Bachelor’s, Master’s, PhD, AFAM, or language course)

Age Limits:

  • Bachelor’s or Single Cycle Degree: Maximum age 23
  • Master’s, AFAM, or Language Courses: Maximum age 28
  • PhD Programs: Maximum age 30
  • Research Projects: Maximum age 40

Language Requirements:

  • Most programs require a minimum B2 level in either Italian or English (based on the language of instruction)
  • Italian language and culture courses require a minimum A2 level
  • Applicants from English-speaking countries or Italian schools abroad may be exempt from language certifications
