Types of Scholarships and Benefits

Shenzhen University offers several scholarship options for international students pursuing full-time PhD programs in fields such as Liberal Arts, Science, Engineering, Medicine, and Arts. Program durations vary from 3 to 5 years.

1. Liyuan International Scholarship 2025

  • First-Class Honor: Full tuition waiver plus CNY 6,000/month living allowance.
  • Second-Class Honor: Full tuition waiver plus CNY 5,000/month living allowance.
  • Third-Class Honor: Full tuition waiver plus CNY 4,000/month living allowance.

2. Provincial Scholarship: Guangdong Government Outstanding International Student Scholarship

  • Funding amount: CNY 30,000 per year for outstanding international students.

3. Municipal Scholarship: Shenzhen Universiade Scholarship

  • Funding amount: CNY 40,000 per year for eligible students.

4. Supervisor Grants

  • Supervisors provide at least CNY 12,000 annually to support academic or research-related activities.

Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for the Shenzhen University scholarships, applicants must meet the following requirements:

1. Nationality

  • Must be a non-Chinese citizen with a valid foreign passport.
  • Should be in good physical and mental health and follow Chinese laws and university regulations.

2. Academic Qualifications

  • Must hold a Master’s degree or higher.
  • Applicants in their final year of study can submit a pre-graduation certificate but must present their official diploma before enrollment.

3. Age Limit

  • Applicants must be under 40 years old.

4. Language Proficiency

For Chinese-taught programs:

  • Science & Engineering: Minimum HSK 4 score of 180.
  • Liberal Arts, Medicine, and Arts: Minimum HSK 5 score of 180.

For English-taught programs:

  • Proof of English proficiency is required, except for native speakers.
