Eligibility Criteria

To be considered for the Mastercard Foundation Graduate Scholarship at Makerere University, applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Admission Requirements: Must be eligible for admission to Makerere University’s main campus for a Master’s degree program. Applicants must apply and be admitted to Makerere University.
  • Educational Background: Must have completed a Bachelor’s Degree in an African country.
  • Economic Need: Must demonstrate significant financial hardship.
  • Leadership and Community Service: Must show potential for leadership and have a track record of community service.
  • Scholarship Restrictions: Must not be a recipient of any other scholarship, nor have enrolled in or completed another Master’s program.
  • Age Limit: Must be under 35 years old by the application deadline. Refugees and students with disabilities have an age limit of 40 years.
  • Additional Requirement for Refugees: Refugee applicants must provide proof of their status (refugee attestation).

How to Apply:

Prospective scholars are encouraged to apply by visiting the Mastercard Foundation Graduate Scholarship application portal at Makerere University. Alternatively, applicants can download the application form in PDF format, complete it, and submit a hard copy to the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program offices at Makerere University, located at Plot 144, Pool Road.
