1.) Tailings Manager

 

ROLE PURPOSE AND CONTEXT

• The Tailings Manager will on behalf of the Processing Department offer technical support to the mine by leading his/her team to ensure the mine is compliant with the approved industry standard for TSF operations, maintenance and using monitoring tools to forecast the conditions and behaviour of the facilities. The incumbent will also be the liaison between the mine and other external stakeholders especially auditors and regulatory bodies supported by the necessary documentations.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• Assess risks for all tasks and ensure they are controlled before and task execution.
• Report all incidents and ensure they have been investigated and corrective actions completed on time.
• Act on all corrective actions assigned to you or under your jurisdiction and ensure timely completion.
• Ensure 100% Compliance to set OHS KPIs and ensure your direct reports also comply with same.
• Contribute to the Processing Department target to achieve zero reportable environmental incidents, zero breaches and no events requiring public disclosure (DOS).
• Utilise Analyse and Improve’ tools to investigate the dam’s structural behaviour.
• Reduce energy usage by running the plant energy consumption per unit produced at the optimal rate with sphere of influence (DO).
• Contribute to the Processing Department’s objective to eliminate hydrocarbon and hyper saline water spills.
• Support with the preparation and execution of training and development plans.
• Communicate policies and procedures to stakeholders in a manner to achieve full understanding and compliance.
• Manage the activities of the TSF in compliance with AGA TSF management framework and GISTM.
• Maintain Tailings Storage Facility (TSF) key performance indicators (KPI’s) including freeboard, pool distances and pool depth and adherence to the standard operating procedure (SOP) at the TSF.
• Produce reports based on interpretation of daily, weekly and monthly monitoring information.
• Monitor the performance of the TSF, observe and report on effectiveness of maintenance of all TSFs
• Inspect TSF infrastructures and provide feedback to the relevant stakeholders.
• Manage TSF operations and construction activities of contractors.
• Maintain discipline and performance management among the members of the TSF crew.
• Investigate all appropriate equipment related safety and environmental status and take prompt and appropriate corrective action.
• Control and manage operational and construction budget.
• Manage the construction of the tailings deposition systems including its operation within life of mine depositional requirements in line with legislative instrument (LI 2182).
• Be familiar with Legal Instruments (LI’s) and Codes as laid down by the Republic of Ghana and ensure compliance by his team.
• Coordinate the execution of, and verify that, all Processing activities are executed in accordance with the conditions of State and Federal approvals, Public Environmental Review commitments, Mining Proposals, the Mines Safety and Inspection Act, Dangerous Goods Act and other statutory obligations including those identified in the Obligations Register which is developed and maintained by the Sustainability Department (DOS).
• Provide appropriate training, coaching, and monitoring so that all contractors and consultants are aware of the relevant statutory requirement are adhered to during project execution.
• Contribute to the annual Processing Department budget by preparing costed justifications for authorised brainstorming initiatives and integrate into the annual budget for the Metallurgy Department by September each year (DOS).
• Develop and review and train his operating team on Standard Operating Procedures to execute all production task.
• Conduct Risk Assessment task that may require them, properly explain each RA to his team before task is done and where SLAM is needed by his team, he/she must ensure that it is facilitated per the right protocols.
• Oversee the Requests for Information (RFI) and Technical Query (TQ) process, review and approve appropriate technical and non-technical documentation.
• Ensure all document processed during the shift are submitted to the appropriate repository for easy future reference.
• Maintain meeting records, agreed actions, and follow up to ensure actions are completed.
• Participate in formal cost and schedule reviews to support accurate and timely reporting.
• Participate in all internal and external audits as required.
• Coordinate the process related All TSFs pre-operational testing activities including functional testing, line tests, hydro testing, and wet commissioning.
• Work with the contractors and vendors to ensure all tests and remedial works are satisfactorily completed and that the TSFs operates in accordance with the functional requirements.
• Provide input into the preparation of ‘as built’ mark-ups for P&ID drawings (if altered during pre-operations and commissioning). Co-ordinate all ‘as built’ mark-up drawings for handover to AGAG document control team.
• Inspect all refurbishment works to ensure works are delivered in accordance with applicable designs, specifications, and expectations.
• Conduct oversight checks on all mechanical refurbishment works and testing regime to ensure quality and or performance is in line with obligations and expectations.
• Proactively identify and manage change to avoid potential cost, schedule and quality issues.

Qualification Required & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Geotechnical/Geological Engineering or its equivalent.
• Certified Engineer or Professional Engineer with Ghana Institution of Engineers

Experience

• A minimum of 5 years’ experience in operations, construction and management of Tailings Storage Facility.
• Preferably 5 – 8 years in a management/ senior supervisory role
• TSF Commissioning Experience.
• Experience and good understanding of total mining cycle.
• Proven experience in collaborating with the government and international regulators.

Technical Competencies

• Knowledge in Management of plant performance and efficiency
• Knowledge in Budgeting and Production scheduling
• Stock management and control.
• In depth understanding of Metallurgical Accounting
• Demonstrable knowledge of metallurgical processes such as, but not limited to, size reduction, flotation, leaching, desorption, tailings disposal and processing chemicals.

2.) HR Information Systems (HRIS) Officer

 

ROLE PURPOSE AND CONTEXT

• The HRIS Officer role is accountable for providing direct output support services to the HRIS Superintendent, within the context of data validation, data integrity, monitoring and continually working together to add value to the use of human resource information systems and processes, to support the department within this context to achieve its operational and strategic objectives.
• The role is accountable for making sure that all data that is captured within the HRIS pass laid down data integrity tests.
• Within the context of personal data protection, the role will monitor compliance with provisions in the Data Protection Act 2012 Act 843 pertaining to data privacy and data integrity working closely with HR Officers and other HR Staff.
• The role will provide application support services to the department extracting data from Legacy systems upon request, designing ad-hoc reports from Legacy and HRIS, maintaining the department’s intranet site etc.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

HR Data Integrity:

• Verify and validate all input data on the HRIS in line with the HRIS Data Integrity Plan

HR Business Systems Analysis:

• Prepare business/user requirements, analyse business requirements and develop alternative solutions

Report Authoring/Application Support Services:

• Provide support to HR staff using approved tools and systems to extract data and design ad-hoc report from HR legacy systems (ICON, Educos etc) and ERP applications.

• Maintain the HR Intranet site with updates as and when they become available

Capacity Building:

• Assist in the training of HR Staff in HRIS applications

• Educate and provide support to HR staff on all matters that relate to personal data protection including data security and data integrity

Qualification Required & Experience

ROLE PURPOSE AND CONTEXT

• The Shiftboss role is a regulatory mandated role that leads the Quality Assurance and Control and ensures compliance to the mining and other related legislation. The incumbent will also manage risk of all underground mining ore extraction activities to the required standards.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• Establish the necessary production processes and practices for the redevelopment of the Obuasi Mine
• Maintain good working knowledge of the following relevant provisions applicable to the mine:
O Mineral and Mining (Health and Safety and Technical) Regulations 2012(L.I 282)

• Proficient in the use of Mining Software

Legal Requirement

• Underground Shiftboss Certificate of Competency or equivalent, as required by the Minerals Commission (Chief Inspector of Mines)

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the supervision of construction works executed by contractors to ensure Department’s assigned projects are constructed in accordance with the approved Scope of Work, engineering design, QHSE standards & specifications

  • Check, inspect and test completed project work and/or arrange appropriate pre-commissioning inspections and tests.

  • Ensure and follow up completion and clearance of all punch list items.
  • Review and endorse red marked up and “as built” drawings.
  • Participate in hand-over and acceptance, review commissioning procedures and participate in the commissioning of facilities.

  • B.Sc in an Engineering discipline from a recognized University or Diploma in relevant engineering Discipline with extensive construction related experience.

9.) Instrument Supervisor

 

Location: Kwale – Site, Delta
Functionally reports to: Deputy Construction Manager
Supervises: Instrumentation Site Work crew

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Supervise the execution of instrumentation works, both performed by subcontractors or in direct hiring, verifying that works are correctly carried out in accordance with project documentation and in the planned time frame.
  • Support the instrumentation subcontractors or the direct hiring personnel ensuring the feasibility (availability of drawings and materials) of the works
  • Promote safe works practices and environmental protection, ensuring that safety standards are respected

1.) Senior Planning Engineer – LT

 

ROLE PURPOSE AND CONTEXT

• To give confidence in the Mining Plan by reviewing and interrogating existing data from the life of mine process and produce realistic designs that enable plans and schedules to be produced at the required standard for short-term planning and production systems.






KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• Assess risks for all tasks and ensure they are controlled before and during task execution.
• Report all incidents and ensure they have been investigated and corrective actions completed on time.
• Define mine planning activities and schedules for tracking of mining operational readiness tasks
• Generate a 12 month mine schedule with respect to geotechnically re-sequenced stopes to include diamond drilling activities
• Provide unequivocal Mine Planning data to enable the quarterly updates of the rolling 18-month plan to be produced on time.
• Develop quarterly, rolling forecast plans with sufficient details for implementation by the mining contractor
• Ensure mine quarterly forecast is aligned with annual budget to meet the general strategic intent; mine design, infrastructure specifications, diamond drilling requirements, production schedules, unit costs, identified risks and issues.
• Deliver the work of the Mine Planning function within approved budget targets and specified timeframes, costs and related KPIs
• Demonstrate Safety Leadership and improve the Culture across the Production Engineering department regarding Safety, Health, Environmental and Sustainable Development
Provide the resources and expertise to develop the team to capably and consistently deliver the annual budget, according to their role and level of authority
• Rigorously drive implementation of projects and nurture and sustain a culture of Accountability and Continuous Improvement within the Mine Planning team
• Develop and maintain constructive relationships with Internal Stakeholders (Corporate, Group Planning & Technical, sister mines, etc.) and external Stakeholders (Regulatory Agencies and Authorities, Minerals Commission) to establish existing and changing societal and regulatory expectations and requirements

Qualification Required & Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mining Engineering or equivalent
• A post Degree would be considered a strong asset

Experience

• A minimum of eight (8) years’ proven experience in mine planning in an underground mining environment of which at least five (5) years at senior supervisory level within a planning/technical department
• Proficient with Mine Planning Software
• Knowledge of a variety of mining methods applicable to the site.
• Excellent Communication Skills

• Blasting certificate
• Mine Rescue certificate (preferred)
• Shift boss certificate (preferred)

• Understands advanced principles of mine design and scheduling to achieve Business outcomes.
• Ability to generate and act as competent person for annual mine reserves statements.
• Understands the contract, the key deliverables, and the processes that are aligned to managing it successfully.

ROLE PURPOSE AND CONTEXT

The incumbent will design, develop, and manage the accounting features of the gold processing plant and ensure raw materials for processing are accurate for safe sustainable plant throughput and gold recovery at a minimum cost. He/she will act as a continuous improvement champion and facilitate projects that delivers and promotes a culture of sustainable continuous improvements within the department.

• Reduce energy usage by running the plant energy consumption per unit produced at the optimal rate with sphere of influence.
• Contribute to the Processing Department’s objective to eliminate hydrocarbon and hyper saline water spills to zero within the Metallurgy Department.
• Ensure the organization structure is capable of delivering the metallurgical efficiency strategy
• Develop and set-up process automation, control systems and on-stream Metallurgical Monitoring for accurate and consistent data.
• Develop first fill and operational regents and consumables procurement plan and track delivery.
• Identify and maintain required inventory of critical spares and consumables
• Conduct the drafting, review, adjudicating and managing of all service contracts of the processing plant.
• Develop BIOX bacteria inoculum build up program and facilitate its implementation.
• Provide input into the process team readiness, recruitment, training and development of standard operating procedures, policies, etc.
• Where practicable, identify manual sampling protocols for plant data
• Investigate operational bottlenecks in the plant and make recommendations to prevent recurrence.
• Identify opportunities to improve efficiencies, product quality, and reduce costs, as part of the Full Potential program.
• Model the process flowsheet and conduct integrative online mass balancing and simulation for troubleshooting and optimisation works
• Model the Sulphide Treatment Plant metallurgical accounting system with the modelling tools for steady state or dynamic plant model development for various applications

Qualification Required & Experience

• Recognized tertiary qualification in Metallurgy, Mineral or Chemical Engineering
• Certificate of competence from MINCOM as per LI 2182 would be an advantage

Experience

• Minimum of 5 years of post-tertiary practice on a recognized process plant

ROLE PURPOSE AND CONTEXT

• The Metallurgical Superintendent is generally responsible for everything QA/QC that the department is involved with including data management, efficiencies, and researching into opportunities for the future.
• The incumbent with directives from the Plant Manager -Technical, should always be armed with sound reasons behind the good, the bad and the ugly of what is happening on the plant and give technical guidance to the operations team and as well be involved with setting up robust metallurgical data management system and inform plant management and any stakeholders with timely and meaningful technical reports in support of the department operations.

• Manage AFE’s for capital expenditure that will improve throughput, reduce cost or improve efficiencies.
• Develop the risk and risk mitigation plans and activities for all work scopes and changes relating to the processing plant operations and infrastructure.
• Develop a plan to ensure metallurgical equipment maintenance/ replacement is achieved in line with the Obuasi Operations expected life of mine.
• Ensure the SAP asset maintenance management system is fully utilized for maintenance activities and that all team members are competent in the utilization of the SAP.
• Develop and maintain the Metallurgical Management Plan, as a key Project Execution sub plan for the area of accountability
• Arrange input and support into establishing and maintaining Work Breakdown Structure (WBS), budget, schedule, and construction work packs for refurbishment activities.
• Oversee the Requests for Information (RFI) and Technical Query (TQ) process, review, and appropriate technical and non-technical documentation for approval.
• Drive the International Cyanide Management Code (ICMI) recertification for Obuasi Mine.
• Maintain meeting records, agreed actions, and follow up to ensure actions are completed.
• Maintain a regular SAP asset maintenance management system operational readiness interface and hand over meeting.
• Participate in formal cost and schedule reviews to support accurate and timely reporting.
• Produce accurate and timely weekly, monthly, and quarterly reporting that can clearly convey the status of safety, cost, schedule and quality for the construction, refurbishment, and operational works.
• Lead process quality assurance audits and drive corrective/improvement measures
• Inspect plant refurbishments and plant modifications to ensure works are delivered in accordance with applicable designs, specifications, and expectations
• Perform audits on metallurgical practices, correct and implement sustainable actions.
• Continuously identify and collate opportunities to improve cost, schedule, quality and safety outcomes to all engineering, production, refurbishment, and construction activities undertaken in accountability.
• Provide technical knowledge, “metallurgical” input into the development and execution of the commissioning plan.

Qualification Required & Experience

• Bachelors in Metallurgy, Mineral, Material or Chemical Engineering from an accredited institution.

Experience

• At least 8 – 10 years’ experience in a processing plant; preferably 5 – 8 years at a middle management role.
• Experience and understanding of total mining cycle.
• Proven experience in collaborating with plant operations maintenance department

  • Support the achievement of company operational targets with the strict minimum number of security incidents.

  • Strictly abide to the highest standards in Security Management, in full compliance with:
    • IFC Performance Standards 4 guidelines:
    • Handbook on the Use of Security Forces in Private Sector Projects

  • We are looking to recruit a full-time Scheduler (M / F / X) for the major “Abuja Kano Road” Project in Nigeria.
  • A four-lane motorway between the capital city of Abuja and the northern metropolis of Kano, measuring around 380 kilometres in length is to be refurbished with large sections being newly constructed.

ROLE PURPOSE AND CONTEXT

• The core purpose of this role is to implement and deliver an end to end Enterprise Resource Program (ERP) supportive solution to PM focusing on systems design, user acceptance and enablement to facilitate, support and enhance optimum business processes and decision making.

• Act on all employee environmental complaints and suggestions.
• Adhere to the site’s environmental management plan.
• Manage the electrical construction teams on a daily base, maximizing the productivity and ensuring the team compliance to the safety regulations.
• Manage the installation of cables, terminations and supporting structures to various Motor control centers and MV Panels.
• Manage the installation of Electrical panels according to OEM specifications and standards Planning and quality control of installations.
• Provide technical input regarding installation techniques and any unforeseen technical queries that may arise

Qualification Required & Experience

• Engineering Degree in Electrical or Minimum of technical diploma N4 Electrical

Experience

• Minimum of 10 years’ experience in electrical construction.
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in Underground Environment electrical construction.
• Experience in assembly and wiring of Motor control centers.
• Experience in assembly and wiring of 11kv switchgear.
• Experience with MV terminations and joints, minimum of 50 terminations and 20 joints.
• Must be competent to read and interpret schematics, SLD and PLC termination schedules.
• Must have experience in leading and managing multiple teams.
• Experience to do Quality control and the importance of proper documentation.
• Experience with testing and certifying MV cables and installations.
• Experience with cold commissioning and the managing of process control changes.
• Experience with Fault finding and problem solving with control circuits

ROLE PURPOSE AND CONTEXT

• The Shaft & Winders Superintendent is accountable for monitoring and control of the winding equipment to ensure the operation is always compliant, safe, in accordance with operational and Engineering policies, standards, systems and procedures to maximise plant (winder) availability in a compliant, safe, sustainable, cost-effective manner and minimize operational risks in order to meet the business’ strategic objective.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• Proactively control the training and qualifications process to avoid potential project cost and schedule overruns, whilst maintaining safety, budget, schedule and quality targets.
• Communicate accurate and timely maintenance schedule delivery, progress, cost and quality information in the area of accountability.
• Design and put in place reporting structure to provide major inputs to Engineering Manager – UG to allow reporting of Operational Readiness for the winding operations.
• Monitor the compliant completion of the winding aspects of the Operational Readiness plan for the mining teams including localisation plan.
• Engage and develop appropriately skilled, capable and experienced personnel in the area of accountability.
• Use the systems for the winding section to provide effective planning of work, efficient and safe work practices, monitoring of performance and promote continuous improvement.





• Identify sub-standard work practices, identify root cause and eliminate by corrective action.
• Task subordinates in line with achieving the agreed production plan
• Work with the team of Specialists to specify, design, analyze and verify new components and systems.

• Develop and maintain the maintenance training portion of the Winding Engineering Management Plan, as a key Project Execution Plan sub plan for the area of accountability
• Arrange input and support into establishing and maintaining Work Breakdown Structure (WBS), budget, schedule, and construction work packs for refurbishment activities.
• Oversee the Requests for Information (RFI) and Technical Query (TQ) process, review and approve appropriate technical and non-technical documentation.
• Review and input into relevant plans such as Health, Safety, Quality and Commissioning

• The Engineering Manager – Underground, is accountable for the development and implementation of Underground Fixed Infrastructure maintenance, including the Winding, Mine Services, and Mine Dewatering through the application of operational engineering policies, standards, systems and procedures to maximise plant availability in a sustainable, cost-effective manner and minimise operational risks to meet the business’ strategic objective.

• Manage refurbishment installation contractor and an AGAG maintenance workforce to deliver works that meet cost, schedule and quality expectations consistent with the scope and quality contained in the Feasibility Study within area of accountability.
• Implement the approved organisational structure required to deliver the project targets and future operational requirements.
• Engage and develop appropriately skilled, capable and experienced personnel in accountability.
• Support the development and implementation of systems for the Engineering and Mining departments to provide effective planning of work, efficient and safe work practices, monitoring of performance and promote continuous improvement.
• Ensure the work carried out by the maintenance team is of a standard that supports the operational requirements of the equipment and is at optimum cost
• Identify sub-standard work practices and take action to eliminate them and identify the root cause of these poor work practices.

About This Role

Mine Planning

  • Prepare, review and evaluate mine design, mine plans, ore control, project feasibility and productivity studies

Job Description

• Take delivery of all incoming materials and reconcile with purchase orders
• Track, document and resolve any discrepancies on received orders

  • Summarize project cost and generate baselines and valuation models; Construct and maintain the pricing models; Project cost management and optimization; Lead initiatives aimed at improving cost, quality, schedule, and consistency.
  • Manage the work of external architectural/civil/structural design consultants.
  • Provide support for: Project management, including sub-contractor selection & management, supply chain, procurement, process management and acceptance.
  • Provide general and project support and guidance to all local project teams in the region to develop their delivery skills; Formulate delivery construction solution standards and guides; Formulate project acceptance criteria;

Academic Requirements, Technical Knowledge & Skills

  • Degree in Engineering (Structural and Civil) non-negotiable.
  • Professional registration is required.
  • IT/ICT or any business related qualification will be an advantage.
  • Minimum 10 years structural/civil engineering experience, involving medium to large scale and complex projects (experience with data centre, mission critical and industrial projects).
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in consulting engineering firm.
  • Minimum 2 large scale (no less than 1 megawatts) Data Center projects design or build experience.
  • In-depth knowledge of structural and civil engineering components for the construction of buildings (including drainage systems).
  • Fundamental understanding of M&E systems / building services requirements, including generators, fuel storage, UPS system, HVAC system, Medium and Low Voltage systems etc.
  • Possess a strong awareness of current and emerging industry standards including Uptime Institute, TIA 942 and local standard as well as vendors and technologies as that relate to the Data Center facilities.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, MS Office, Revit and industry standard structural modelling software.
  • Working experience with MEP engineering consultants.
  • Vendor and consultant management skills.
  • Ability and willingness to think outside of the box to find innovative solutions prior to and during the construction process to reduce costs without negative impacts on quality or reliability.
  • Proficiency in building codes, regulations, and standards across the Nigeria and Africa region. International project and program experience.
  • Excellent communication skills capability, attention to detail, and high quality standards.
  • Ability to effectively communicate design standards to internal and external project partners.
  • Ability to manage multiple fast paced projects simultaneously and good project management capability.
  • Ability to travel internationally.

Salary
N500,000 – N700,000 monthly
