Apply: China’s Ministry of Education/State Oceanic Administration 2022-2023 Marine Scholarships for International Students

The State Oceanic Administration (SOA) and China’s Ministry of Education jointly initiate the Marine Scholarship of China for the purpose of providing ?nancial support to outstanding students from the coastal countries or regions around the South China Sea, the Paci?c and the Indian Oceans and African, American developing countries to study in China for a master’s or doctoral degree in oceanography or other related specialties, cultivating advanced professionals of the related fields for developing countries, enhancing international marine cooperation and exchange, and promoting the harmonious ocean development in the region and around the world. China Scholarship Council (CSC) is in charge of the admissions and routine management of the Scholarship.





The scholarship aims to enhance international marine cooperation, exchange and also promote harmonious ocean development around the world.

About Chinese Government

Chinese Government Scholarship—Chinese University Program is a scholarship established by Ministry of Education (MOE) to support Chinese universities in specific provinces or autonomous regions to recruit outstanding international students for graduate studies in China. MOE authorized USTC to recruit full-time master and doctoral students under the Chinese Government Scholarship since 2008.




Aim and Benefits of China’s Ministry of Education/State Oceanic Administration Postgraduate Scholarship

  • Tuition fees
  • On-campus accommodation fee or off-campus accommodation monetary subsidy (RMB 700/month for master’s programs; RMB 1000/month for doctoral programs.
  • Living allowance (RMB 3,000/month for master’s programs; RMB 3,500/month for doctoral programs).
  • Comprehensive medical insurance.




Requirements for China’s Ministry of Education/State Oceanic Administration Postgraduate Scholarship Qualification

To be considered for the 2022/23 Marine Scholarships for International Students, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Be non-Chinese citizens in good health.
  • Must apply for the postgraduate degree program of ocean-related specialties. Applicants will be given priority if they are currently engaged in oceanographic and relevant sectors.
  • Master’s degree applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree or above and be under the age of 40.
  • Doctoral applicants must hold a master’s degree or above and be under the age of 45.




Interview date, Process and Venue for China’s Ministry of Education/State Oceanic Administration Postgraduate Scholarship

A comprehensive review will be conducted on applicant’s professional background, academic record, work experience, language proficiency, overall merits, research achievements and their prospective supervisor’s comments. The shortlisted candidates will be submitted to China’s Ministry of Natural Resources and China Scholarship Council for final approval.

The final results will be published at https://admissions.xmu.edu.cn in August.

Interested and qualified? Go to Chinese Governmeent on studyinchina.csc.edu.cn to apply

Application for the Scholarships will be considered only after the applicant has been admitted to Xiamen University.

  • Applicants shall complete online application at https://studyinchina.csc.edu.cn   (Program Category: Type B; Agency No. of XMU: 10384) and print out the Application Form for Chinese Government Scholarships. The Scholarships Application Form should be completed in Chinese or English and signed by the applicant.
  • Applicants shall complete another online application at http://application.xmu.edu.cn and upload the scan copy of Application Form for Chinese Government Scholarships. There is no need to mail paper application materials.
