What Is STARS21?

STARS21 is an intensive, full-year training program hosted by the University of Toronto’s Department of Radiation Oncology (UTDRO). Designed for early-career scientists and clinicians, it offers immersive learning in state-of-the-art radiation science while promoting innovation, leadership, and teamwork across disciplines.

Through interactive modules, workshops, and mentorship, participants gain the tools to advance radiation medicine—from oncology and biology to medical physics and healthcare delivery.

• Shortlisted Applicants Notified: July 14–18, 2025
• Full Application Deadline: August 11, 2025, by 5:00 PM ET
• Final Results: September 2025

Q1: Is this program open to international applicants?
Yes, international students and fellows affiliated with a Canadian institution are welcome to apply.

Q2: Do I need prior experience in radiation oncology to apply?
Not necessarily. The program values interdisciplinary perspectives, so applicants from related fields (biology, physics, engineering, etc.) with a strong interest in radiation science are encouraged to apply.

Q3: What kind of support is available for participants?
