The scholarship can be applied to all fields of study, and its worth covers up to 100% fee remission. The scholarship, valued up to $110,000, will be awarded to roughly 600 candidates.
The scholarship provides a living allowance of $34,400 per annum pro rata (based on the 2023 full-time study rate) for up to two years for students pursuing a Masters by Research degree or up to 3.5 years for doctoral students. The living allowance can be annually indexed and includes limited paid sick leave, maternity leave, and parental leave.
Eligibility Requirements
For eligibility for the Graduate Research Scholarships at the University of Melbourne, applicants need to fulfill the following criteria:
- Applicants must be domestic or international students who have shown academic excellence.
- Applicants must have applied for and satisfied the entrance requirements for a graduate research degree at the University of Melbourne, or currently be enrolled in a graduate research degree at the University of Melbourne.
Scholarship Advantages
Successful candidates for the Graduate Research Scholarships at the University of Melbourne will receive:
- Full fee offset for up to two years for students pursuing a Masters by Research degree or up to four years for doctoral students.
- A living allowance of $34,400 per year pro rata (based on the 2023 full-time study rate) for up to two years for students pursuing a Masters by Research degree or up to 3.5 years for doctoral students. The living allowance may be annually indexed and includes limited paid sick leave, maternity leave, and parental leave.
- A relocation grant of $2000 for students relocating from States or Territories other than Victoria, or $3000 for students moving from overseas.
- Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) Single Membership for international students requiring a student visa to study in Australia.
- Full fee offset scholarships for up to two years for students pursuing a Masters by Research degree or up to four years for doctoral students.
Application Procedures
All new students who apply for a graduate research course by the closing date for that course will automatically be considered for the Graduate Research Scholarships.
Those who have deferred commencement of a graduate research course to reconsider a scholarship must fill out an online application form by October 31 to be reconsidered for a scholarship the following year.
Students already enrolled in a graduate research course seeking a scholarship must also submit an online application form by October 31 to be considered for a scholarship the following year.
