About the Scholarships

The AURS and RTPS are fully funded research scholarships available to both international and domestic students. They include:

  • Full tuition fee coverage for the entire degree duration
  • Living stipends to support day-to-day expenses
  • Relocation allowances and Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) for international students
  • Special allowances for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples

Scholarship Rounds

1. Merit Round

3. Cohort Round (Defence & National Security)

Dedicated to PhD, MPhil, and MRes candidates focusing on strategic areas such as defence innovation, cybersecurity, and national resilience. Students join collaborative cohorts for accelerated learning.

  • Open: 1 September 2025
  • Close: 21 September 2025
  • Results: February 2026
  • Start: February–November 2026

Eligibility includes domestic students and international applicants from allied nations (US, UK, Canada).

  3. If shortlisted, complete the full research degree application by 12 December 2025

Cohort Round: Express interest in the advertised theme area before the closing date.
